Doing a kitchen in 32 hours with that many changes was ridiculous. Much as I didn't mind seeing Donna or Teran leave, Temple really should have been held more accountable for the team failure.

this kind of reminded me of when they have re-dos on The Apprentice
but, they are given money to hire help ie a contractor the host said HGTV had to come in a finish the mess would have loved the time between when they left and when the kitchen was finished |

Re: HGTV's Design Star | ||
Quote: I agree 100%! It would have been easy enough to boot Donna the next week. That kitchen was awful! The floor is absolutely fugly and looks cheap, the countertop is cheap and wasn't even installed yet. The cabinets were plain (I really liked the idea of staining the edges a darker color, it would have looked nice!) the wall color in the kitchen was too dark. Temple absolutely over-promised (like Clive said, the reason why she was probably picked was because she offered more than anyone else! That should have been a clue to the homeowners that something wasn't right), underdelivered and was a horrible leader. The pep-talk letters were sweet, but that time would have been better spent trying to prepare for the next work day. Also? Teran must never cook. The first rule in designing kitchens is that the refrigerator is in convenient reach of both the counters where you do prep-work and the stove. He justly got the boot, IMHO. |

yes, I was kind of confused by the Donna boot except her just shopping and not really helping but, that's the team leader's problem
liked how the 3 women left the 2 guys to do the major work and, Temple taking credit for the mess; like she was proud of it she's out next 2 guys will be final 2 |

Very disappointed with that kitchen and no doubt the home owners will be too once they live with it for awhile.
That floor is terrible and Alice is right that it will be a nightmare to keep clean. If she was going to use wood planks, she needed to use some kind of polyurethane over it to seal it all up. I like the tile backsplash and hope the crew also sealed that grout up during the final work. I agree that 32 hours was not enough time to do a good job in that room. Remind me never to enter a HGTV Home Improvement contest. |

They need to just stop the show now, give the "crown" to David, and stop pussy-footing around. No one is even close to being of his caliber.

I just have a feeling Temple will win. She is hot and has a memerable name.

Quote: If they do, then they shouldn't even bother having a second season--the show will have lost all credibility in my eyes, and I bet a lot of other viewers as well. She's horribly inexperienced and last night painfully showed that. |

Don't we vote for the winner?

This is David's to lose. He's been the frontrunner on just about everything, seems to have a good head on his shoulders and has abs.
Temple should be the next to go. |

Re: HGTV's Design Star | ||

I actually was totally fine with Donna leaving. She really has contributed nothing to the tasks.
Ample (as a friend calls her) may not be the best one there, and her execution of the design wasn't all that good, BUT the couple was happy and for that alone should have kept her in the competition this week. For the time period they had, and for all they needed to get done, it wasn't all that bad I felt. It may not have been Ample's total vision promised, but it was enough that the couple seemed pretty happy with it. I think right now it's a 2 person race btwn Alice & David, but David definitely has the winners edit. I'm rooting for Alice. |

Re: HGTV's Design Star | ||
Quote: But how happy was the couple really? The old kitchen sucked so bad that they probably would have squealed just getting the new appliances. They didn't have any time to really take it in (and notice things like plastic laminate counters, or the fucked up floor) and besides, the judges pretty much knew that Ample (I do like that nickname) overpromised, and underdelivered on a boring as hell room where nothing quite meshed. I still think she should have gotten the boot. |

I really cannot stand Temple. She looks like a man in drag to me. The whole pep note thing was "high school," and that's really how she comes across to me. Yup, an immature man in drag.
Donna was a waste. All she did was shop! I also chose David, a couple eppies back, as the front runner. I like his attitude, smile and taste - hope he wins. |

Re: HGTV's Design Star | ||
Quote: OA, I agree with you. I think they were most excited by the new refrigerator. I guess I meant it wasn't a total bust and they did like the asthetic of it all. I think with a more reasonable (and realistic!) time frame, it could have been really great. But I guess the same could be said of any of them. Even though she was a basket case, it seemed Alice & David don't mind Ample all that much. Cumulatively, Donna was the least productive and had the least vision of the five, so I think that's why they canned her ass. And I'm not really rooting for Ample or anything, I just thought Donna was worse. :) |
