I loved the Mama Cherry ep. I wanted to go last time I was there but Brighton was too far away.

Oh cool...next time I'm across the pond, I'll see if my friend will take me. Although she's moving to Bristol, so maybe not.
The one I watched last night was La Riviera in Inverness. Obnoxious chef! |

It still seems a little weird for a white British chef telling a black American woman how to cook soul food. I guess you can't argue with the results. Soul-in-a-Bowl.

Well he never had a problem with the food just how she was
running the place/advertising it. He basically helped her show off the great food in a better way. And it worked well. |

Quote: They actually apply to be on the show. I'm sure that they sign all sorts of waivers, too, so I'm guessing that the guy from the Indian restaurant isn't going to win his lawsuit. |

So, did anyone watch the new one this week on BBC. God what a fucktard. DOG SHIT on the terrace. I wouldn't care how good his cooking is after seeing that. Noone should ever eat in that pit ever again.

Quote: I didn't watch it yet, so I am commenting without seeing it, and certainly dog feces are unacceptable ... BUT, we should remember that Europeans are often more liberal with pets in restaurants than we are. I remember dining in a little country bistro in the Netherlands where the owner's dog freely roamed the dining room, expecting hugs (or even table scraps!) from the adoring guests (he was a really cute dog). It threw me for a loop at first (even though I love dogs), but I got used to it. One of the things I'm looking forward to with the US version of RKN is seeing restaurants in a context I'm familiar with. Sometimes I just don't "get" the context of the restaurants I see on the BBC show. |

Dogs should always be allowed to roam restaurants freely. Paris (and Warsaw and Krakow, for that matter) are paradises in this respect. Screaming children, OTOH, should be left at home with a responsible sitter.

I don't care about the dogs but you can clean up occasionally. It looked like the shit had been there at least a week.

The dog shit was just the beginning of their problem and cleanliness did you get look at how dirty the kitchen was that along with the raw or burned meat I surprised they made it as long as they did can't wait for the US version should be great!

I'll be curious to see what kinds of restaurants GR picks for the US version of KN. I'm not sure that GR will necessarily appreciate the demands of US diners (for example, we eat a lot faster than Europeans, esp. when we aren't in a very upscale place), and I hope he ventures into different parts of country, and not just NYC and LA.

Do the restaurants have to apply, or could a customer nominate one? There's a decent Thai place in my 'hood that is always empty, although they seem to do an OK carryout business.

I loved it when he used the gravy to fill-in the pothole.

I hope it is the Gordon Ramsey from his Kitchen Nightmares and not from Hell's Kitchen. In the first you can tell that he loves restaurants (more than the food), in the second he is an obnoxious twat.
