I don't recall a character called Anglo on the show, but apparently he was a Pinkerton and JC hisself was an Earp.
Not to mention none other than that creepy Wolcott will make an appearance. |

I watched the second episode last nite. It was a little better than the first one. WTF are they all whining about anyway? And can the acting be any worse?

Jim Beaver(Ellsworth), Garret Dillahunt(Wolcott, McCall), Dayton Callie(Charlie Utter), Trixie (Paula Malcomson) and Keone Young (MrWu) have all confirmed either guest or recurring appearances so far.
And the guy that plays John was Wyatt Earp's little brother last season in one episode. Also, Joanie(Kim Dickens) and Johnny(Sean Bridges) are starring in HBO's 12 miles of Bad Road. From Deadwood. |

Deadwood drew less than that 1st episode with Sopranos lead in and it's the best show ever!!!
You really can't go by the first showing anymore with ONDemand and it being replayed all week. |

Second episode will be the test, but it will probably get less than 3 million viewers without a strong lead-in.
P.S. -- For Canookians, the Movie Network On Demand has episode 2 up already (they put it up on Tuesday). I haven't watched it yet, though. Actually I haven't watched episode 1 yet either. I'll probably watch them both in the next day or so. |

Deadwood's ratings picked up significantly after the first episode maybe even doubling but that first eppy had everything: a guy shot in the head, pigs eating people, cocksuckers, pussy on sale for 1/2 price not to mention all the amazing performances. I can't imagine anyone who watched that first episode who didn't talk about it to several people afterwards. But this one was just blah. John's repeating was annoying and none of the actors really stood out at all and the story was just a kind of wait and see and maybe it will make sense eventually. I'd say it will be down to 1.5 million viewers by week 3.

Sorry to put this thread back on page one.
I love TV. Even some bad TV. This show was just awful. I had to delete this after 40 minutes. Is there anyone out there that can explain why this show is good ? Maybe I am missing something ? |

I think this will be the biggest flop in the history of HBO--one line that I did like though, was Charlie Udder saying "I've done more acid than you've eaten Cheerios" or some shit like that. Otherwise it was unwatchable.
