I liked this show but IF there is another season it would be during the Summer b/c of the ratings not being that good.
I'd watch if there was a TH2. |

When I first heard about the show I went to the website to see what the application process entailed and they were already casting for a second season...so I think it all depends on whether NBC wants to air it.

The second season application was there as a backup measure....there obviously won't be another or else it would have been green lighted by now and we would have heard so. Dismal ratings and high production costs (payouts to the big name producers involved) means there won't be a second season........and really, that's not a shame. The only installment was painfully dull at times, with a poorly planned game ("let's wait for the more intelligent teams to solve the riddle, then we'll copy their method")

Not to mention the ridiculous $3 million grand prize. One million for the team to share would have been much more reasonable IMO.

On paper, the race route and tasks were cool as hell. The casting dropped the bomb big time by casting idiots who couldn't put 1 plus 1 together, and another bomb dropped when somehow teams were allowed to just piggyback another team's puzzle-solving effort all the time to the end of a leg.
This show could have been better than TAR, especially with the current TAR's dumbed down spoonfed transportation and barely any interaction of the teams with locals, but alas, it just wasn't. |

Oh, the Mullets are one thing. They're fun to watch, I agree. I'm thinking more of the boring idiots though, like the ex-CIAs, the Southies, etc. I'm glad the Genie-asses won even though I'd love to smack that bossy pipsqueak leader of theirs because this is one team that at least tried to solve things on their own instead of making dumb guesses (Southies) or piggybacking on some teams (ex-CIAs).
The Mullet adults are so retarded, they are a special case altogether and therefore A-OK as trainwreck material. |

I actually did like the show but yeah, most of the casting was lame. With NBC's shitty state, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought it back (I'm sure that with the sponsors being mentioned every 30 seconds, NBC isn't putting that much money into it). To be honest, I still kind of hope they release it on DVD.

I'm glad to see this thread bumped, b/c I wound up watching the bulk of the season long after it was over (backed up on tape & ur-Tivo) and although I liked it, it didn't have the same panache of TAR.
TAR gets my pulse racing. This thing simply lumbered along -- interesting enough, but maybe better suited for a cable network. Even putting to one side my bias b/c I thought it was a TAR rip-off, it simply wasn't gripping television the way the top shelf RTV shows are. |

Re: re: treasure hunters
Quote: Although TAR should up the prize money since there are 2 winners who have to split the million rather than one winner like on most shows but if suddenly in season ..what is it 10? they doubled the cash prize that would really be unfair to all the past winners that went through the same thing and got half the winnings. As for Treasure Hunters- forget the taxes, fact is that for a basic reality show a million a person is way too much especially for an underperforming show. I could see Survivor, a popular show do that if say they did a team version or something of that nature but Treasure Hunters? Please. |

Re: re: treasure hunters

The only thing that saved the finale of this show was a handsome payout. A million dollars to be split among three people would be horribly anticlimatic, and wouldn't even justify the product placement that was crammed down our throats all season.

not sure if this is true or not, but somebody on here i think claimed they saw little writing at the bottom at the end of the show saying the 3M would be paid out over 20 years.

Three's a crowd...Chinese fire drill atmosphere...grainy and second-rate production values...a few good ideas...
needs to be revamped.. I'd watch the second version. |

Re: re: treasure hunters

I'd prob. watch regardless since I'm a reality TV buff and the premise alone was enough to hook me but TH seriously needs to be revamped if they do another season.
There needs to be an advantage to coming in 1st, no sharing clues, etc.. something of that nature b/c if not the show would kind of suck again unless they cast all teams like Air Force that were likeable yet also COMPETATIVE which many teams lacked in season 1. Quote:I think it was one of the options - lump sum was prob. also an option. Anyone have the finale on their TIVO? |

I just watched TAR1, and I have to say it reminded me a LOT of Treasure Hunters except with likable people
Stuff that has changed from TAR for the worse IMO that Treasure Hunters took off on. How you had to solve a clue to find out your next destination More of a slower pace and more interaction with locals, it almost felt like a documentary for a minute Except again I hated almost everyone, if NBC could find good people and smart people we might have something. Personally I just want TAR to go back to it's roots more than I want a TH2. |

Since this show aired I've heard the host's voice on so many shows. The latest was a Discovery Channel show on the Aztecs. I can never take him seriously after the cheesy, over-dramatic delivery of his lines on TH
