I'm partial to Audrey interogating poor Emory Battis...
"Well, I'm Audrey Horne, and I get what I want!" "Once upon a time there was a sweet little girl named Red that's me, and there was a bad old wolf -that's you. Well, Red kicked the crap outta this wolf and she told her daddy all about it!" and of course the line that sums up Twin Peaks - "God, I love this music. Isn't it too dreamy?" |

LOL LOved Audrey & Emory together :)
I just got my Twin Peaks card set in the mail. Ordered it of eBay. Very sweet! Odd that some characters like Dick got a card but others like Jacques Renault or the Little Man didn't. Also found 2 incorrect facts on it. Can't remember the 1st but they said that Windom Earle was coming to town soon to help Coop with the DEA investigation. Yeah, that was clearly wrong. Othewisie a great collectible. |

don't get me started on Dick Tremaine -remember the fantastic Nicky,Dick,Andy story? Good lord.
coconut, do you have any Wrapped in Plastic mags. You can get most back issues -some are fluff, but some of tomes of great production info especially commenting on the disjointed second season and the snag that happened once the Audrey/Cooper main plotline got nixed by Maclachlan -writers were said to be scrambling because the main thread was now gone. I actually love the second season until the body of Maddie is found -then it goes majorly South for me (including the finding of BOB in Leland). I think Peaks would have done better if it was presented in small miniseries each year -like the first season and how HBO eventually went on to do. Another great point -mainly the first season -is how fresh it still remains -I think it's attributed to the timelessness/1950's look. |

I did my Masters Degree thesis on Twin Peaks.
I know, I'm sad. |

Really? I did a few papers in University on it as well but nothing as extensive as a Masters thesis. What was your topic?

I never saw the series during its original run. I rented the first season to watch just this fall from NetFlix. Just as I became good and hooked on it, just when my curiosity was overwhelmingly piqued, I returned to add season two to my queue only to find that season two ISN'T on DVD.
It's horrible. I've found them on Ebay but they seem to very quickly fly right out of my price range, so for now....I'm still left hanging at the end of season one. |

did you see the Pilot also?
You can get that as an import -the quality isn't as good. And you can get season two on video -it was released in the early ninties -poor quality. I still have all my original video tapes -with interviews and everything and promos. I still remember getting pysched for the second season premeire and how we were all screaming every time the old waiter kept coming back into the room. Are you guys really going to have a TP episode by episode discussion? |

Yeah, I think everyone has through tonight or tomorrow to rewatch the pilot and then we can all start chatting...
I think that's how it works, right? |

1st episode | ||

Gonna watch it tonight since there's shit on TV. Sad thing is my whole first tape has tracking problems because I've watched it so many times. The worst is when it gets all stretched out and slows down when Audrey's dancing to the jukebox. Can't tell you how much that pisses me off...
Looks like I need to invest in the DVDs. |

Log Lady intros?? | ||

Congrats on getting the 2nd season Bonna -- I had bid on eBay for a while on TP sets, but damn those fans are rabid, I never won a single one!
As for the Log Lady intros... were they in character and all cryptic or actually from the actress? (and I've never seen the pilot - is it worth it after watching the series?) |

This thread motivated me to go dig out the boxed VHS set of the first season that someone gave me as a gift many years ago. Three of the seven tapes had never been opened. Don't know why I never watched them.
Anyway, just finished watching them all and they were absolutely sublime. Even better than I remembered them. The scene that really got me was right after Waldo got shot while they were listening to the tape of what Waldo had said. The humour of the table laden with doughnuts, the gore of Waldo's blood splattered everywhere and the horror of what must have happened as Waldo repeated what he had heard that night. Now I've put cherry pie on the menu for Thanksgiving. Going to serve it with some damn fine coffee. |

Re: Re: TV as high art | ||
Quote: the intros were filmed when Twin Peaks was rebroadcast on Bravo (I believe in '96/'97) -they were down by Catherine Coulson -honestly, I've never watched them more than once since I had seen TP a million time by then, and they are on the DVDs. You've never seen the pilot? ouch -you just jumped into it beginning with Coop at the Great Northern and meeting Audrey. |

no pilot | ||
|
Yep, I saw the whole series with no pilot. After seeing a few episodes, I liked the idea of not knowing who killed Laura until actually seeing it when it was revealed in the series.
It was a peculiar beginning to watching the show. I was out visiting a friend in Tucson when someone a floor down from her apartment invited us to watch it with him. One strange bastard he was, his living room was empty except a couch, tv set, an upsidedown flag and a naked mannequin. But I gotta say, it really helped set the mood for some Peaks. |

Re: no pilot | ||
Quote: are you confusing the pilot with the movie? we didn't learn who killed Laura until it was revealed in the second season. The movie came out a year and a few months after the series finale. |

Re: no pilot | ||

Actually, the only way the pilot was ever released in the United States was the European Version with the extended ending which does kind of ruin the killer for you.
The only way the original pilot has ever been available (to my knowledge) is on the HK R0 DVD. |
