It was an okay show but not good enough for a season premiere, but I will STILL follow this show religiously. I don't get the food fight - that was
stupid. Only kids in elementary could think of something like that.

Will, I feel your pain. I too spent several hours trying to get the stupid player to work. Seems like every season, and sometimes mid-season, they have to trot
out the latest and not-so-greatest player. I finally found success by uninstalling the player plugin (using Firefox 3.0.2) and going through this link:

I'd like to say things went smoothly from that point, but they didn't. I had to manually drag the progress bar to get the player to restart after each commercial break, but I did (eventually) get to see the entire episode. And I liked it. Though it wasn't one of the best UB episodes, it was a solid foundation for the new season. I quit watching the show: I lost interest in it. If the writers were good enough, they wouldn't have to move the show to New York.

What a letdown.
They should cut the crap and use some convenient plot device to get Betty back to Mode STAT. The Mode stuff was always way better than the family stuff, and it sucks that it's now divided not only into Mode vs. family, but also Mode vs. Player vs. family. The only good parts of last night were the Willie/Mark/Amanda bits. I hope Betty gets back on track next week. The Daniel and his kid subplot is horrendous. I hope the kid dies. |

The premiere episode was a bit of a miss in my opinion. Player? come on.... And that damn french kid is annoying as hell. I want my Mode back!

Send him back to France (although I totally thought he was speaking Portuguese for the first few scenes he spoke.)

really, i thought this was easily the worst.episode.ever of UB. it's really the first time i truly felt the writers have ever let me down. it just seemed
like they were off their game and doing a parody of an ugly betty episode, but without any of the wit or humor. there was maybe one time i laughed. the
storylines were generally dull, or seemed like a pale version of something they've done before on the show, for some reason. and the way betty jumped ship
so quickly after everything wilhemina did to her and the meades seemed totally uncharacteristic. even the usually glorious mark/amanda scenes were lacking. it
was as if they had totally different people trucked in to write this script. i really hope it picks up again next week. earlier today i was telling someone i
work with how much they would love this show, but i feel like if he was to watch it for the first time tonight i would be embarrassed for recommending it.

Awesome, awesome episode which I almost missed because the TIVO and online listings were wrong. (It aired here at 9, not the announced 10).
I complained about the show last week. I take it back. Tonight was very strong. ETA: Woah! Just read Kitty's take. I guess it was a divisive eppy. :) |

I just don't get why dream sequence Betty still has those ugly braces. For fuck's sake, would we not be able to identify her without the braces? I
thought the Christina stuff was very rushed. One very quick fight with her guy (name?) and then she's down the staircase. Cannot see any of the
principles pushing her down there and he is too obvious a choice so who does that leave?
