That theme song needs to go why not have a song referring to smoke instead of that "oh the suburbs are so bad" shit.

I thought it was about a woman whose stupid ass husband died without any insurance so she has to sell weed to make ends meet. Regardless the song is shitty

I hate the theme song, too. I would rather hear Weeds by Victoria Williams.

The theme song is just showing how the neighborhood can look picturesque from the outside, but you have all the internal problems and secrets. Kinda like a David Lynch comedy in that sense, too bad there's no dancing midget, but I'm not giving up hope yet.
I liked the part where she tells him "Ur uncle was smoother" gotta be an ego killer.... |

Quote: Okay, but what successful man with a wife and kids doesn't have life insurance? It doesn't even cost much. I don't know what his job was, but didn't his employer have life insurance and a 401K? Stupid ass is right. Secondly, why would she just get a job? Apparently, she is some sort of master chef and her kids aren't babies and she has a maid to watch over them while she is working. And she suddenly decides to commit a felony? She must be stupid. On top of that, she never seems to have any money. |

Quote: I love the theme song. It's a badass protest song from the 60's and it perfectly portrays the moral decay of today's suburban society. |

Re: Weeds on Showtime | ||

Not the moral decay IMO, but the soullessness of it. I think it's perfect for this show, because what's unique about this show isn't the fact that people sell or smoke weed, but that the sellers and buyers are WASP-types in an affluent neighborhood, and that's what the theme song brilliantly alludes to. It's also a bit ironic, because when one thinks of the cookie-cutter sameness of modern affluent suburbs, you think about the perfectly manufacutred lawns, the McMansions, the soccer moms, the PTAs, the trophy wives, the country clubs, the sameness of it all -- not the fact that one of the WASPS has a business of selling drugs to people in the neighborhood, which contradicts the idea of those people being "all made out of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same."

Episode 5 is floating around. No explanation for the cola cargo drop so I have no idea what the point of that was.
The older son is boring but the younger one is great. That bitchass white boy is hilarious. Kevin Nealon reminds me of himself on Fat Actress. Needs more hooker code. |

Nice to see Brooke Langton again. Last I saw her was playing Samantha Reilly on MELROSE PLACE.
@ the son pretending to be an Islamic terrorist this week.

That other kid's dad was also in Saved! with Nancy. They hooked up there too. Good movie.

You know...as sharp and dark as this show is, it is very, very disturbing.
Excellent finale and what a plot twist at the end there, huh. Looking forward to Season 2. It's gonna take me a year to recover, though, from Season 1...especially since I did a marathon on Saturday watching 4 episodes to catch up for the finale. |

Great finale. One thing, that plant did not look real. Looked like a damn chili pepper plant.

I thought he'd be a cop or something setting her up, but shiiiiiiit.
And I do agree the last couple of episodes were really dark...and what was up with that Bush tirade? Seemed so...forced. Any word on when it's coming back? |

That plant was pretty dirt-laden for supposedly being product of hydroponics (grown in water).
Other than that, good episode. The DEA boyfriend twist at the end was awesome.I think I might be developing a crush on the brother-in-law. I'm so ashamed. Hope they're not just teasing us and it's back for next season. |

Re: Nancy | ||

The brother-in-law is my favorite character on the show.
Here's the deal. The only character who has any redeeming social values is Conrad, and of course, Conrad is a dealer for the supplier. Every other character has no value whatsoever. The whole show is so fucked up, it's great. |

If you really love the bro-in-law, Justin Kirk, rent Angels in America. He was Prior Walter and blew everyone out of the water, including Pacino with his acting.
I suspect it is because Mary worked with him in that is why he was cast and I hope this will only further increase attention on this great actor. |
