I checked the index, and there's no Buffy thread noted in there, so this is a completely valid thread. My favourite episodes are "Once More With Feeling," "The Body," and then "Hush," as cliched as those three sound right now (even to me). I never really had a favourite character on Buffy (as opposed to ANGEL, where I loved me some Fred), because I just loved the inner circle of Buffy/Xander/Willow/Giles so much. I suspect that if Tara had stuck around for the seventh season, she would have most likely become my favourite, but her death was too quick for me to tell, I guess. I never liked Dawn, ever, and some of the regulars we gained or lost along the way (Riley, Spike, Faith, Joyce) just never made it to that coveted spot where I loved each of their lines, though I appreciate Spike now more than ever, from his time on ANGEL. Loved Cordy while she was on... and I just loved the show itself! I miss it, despite it's terrible final season. :(

I think Season 7 receives too much flack, its really not that bad. Rewatching them on DVD, I have a new appreciation for that season. "Storyteller" may be one of my top 10 episodes. Season 5 on the other hand is my least favorite. Riley became so obviously useless in the first half that it was painful seeing what kind of stories they had to come up with for him. Fortunately they wrote him out of the series, never a big fan of him and his lack of a personality. Also, was never a fan of "The Body," it just never did anything for me, and I always found it boring. IfI had to list my favorites right now, they would probably include "OMWF," "Hush" (yup, I'm being cliche too!) "Earshot," "Storyteller," "Doppelgangland," and "Selfless." As for characters, I always loved Anya. Her chracter was treading Riley territory (useless) towards the end there, but was always a big fan.

Its final season had a great start but then it threw so many new characters in and plot holes it just got messed up, the last five episodes had some redemption for the horrible episodes we had to endure mid season.
My favorite episode is probably "The Gift". Favorite character was Anya. Sucks that their are no more shows in the buffyverse. |

This is possibly my favorite show of all time. I even took a class about two years ago in college called "Deconstructing Buffy." It's one show that I'm a slightly psycho fan about.
My favorite character will always be Xander. I loved the sarcasm and just the character overall. I also really liked what little we saw of Kendra in season 2. I definitely think that was my favorite season. I seemed to enjoy the first three (the high school years) more. There were definitely great episodes in every season, but they were my favorite. I think that season 7 was pretty good. I think that when you are a fan of a show, there's always going to be things you think they could've done better. If you have the 7th season on dvd, watch the last episode with Joss's commentary. He tries to explain some things. I think he said the budget was one reason they couldn't do more and they wanted to bring in so many people (as the First), but those people could never make it. I think there are definitely some unanswered questions, but I enjoyed the run of the show and the finale. |

My favorite episode, written by my favorite Buffy scribe- Jane Espenson was from season 5: "I Was Meant To Love You." It was the episode about the robotic girl-April who was trying to find her inventor/boyfriend who had run out on her. Funny and touching, it was an important show for a lot of reasons.
1) It introduced Warren who would be important the following season. 2) It began showing Spike's obsession with Buffy which would remain until the series' end. 3) It introducted the Buffy-bot. Which would also be important in future episodes. And the girl that played April was cute as well, although I had read this rumor that Britney Spears has been up for the part. Yikes! |

Warren was only used in S6 because they didn't want to put in more than one unfamiliar face (Andrew), but Warren would never have been brought back had that guy that played Tucker in "The Prom" elected to come back. Instead we would have seen Tucker/Jonathan/Newbie, still most likely played by Tom Lenk. :)

One of my all time favorite shows! Almost all of the characters were fully realized and I think this show was shafted big time by the Emmys. And speaking of Angel I've always wanted to know what happened next...........

You and the rest of us that made ANGEL the WB's second highest watched program... |

I think there was definitely one episode that deserved accolades when it came to Emmy Awards. "The Body" in season 5, where Buffy's mom died, was incredible. There were no "bad guys," no music, and all of the characters were amazing. I thought all of the reactions were great, especially Buffy's, when she started thinking had she gotten home sooner, she could've done more, how to react to everything, etc. It's so disturbing, yet really well done.

Why did buffy move to UPN? I know buffy and Roswell moved at the same time, I don't remember why though.

Buffy was always torn between being a smart show & catering to dim, romantic, teenage girls. Season 3 was the peak - there was never another villian close to the Mayor. After that, the soap opera stuff just got too much, athough Willow, Anya & Andrew could still sometimes produce something worth watching.

Still sad the "Anya & Andrew" roadtrip adventure spin-off series was never even considered. (Okay, so I only proposed it on this board.) They could have brought her back to life! And god knows Tom Lenk needs a job!

Quote: At the risk of being hated by most of you, I actually HATE "The Body," and also can do without "Once More With Feeling," and you can throw in the season finale I think for season 3 where they all had dreams and the cheese man made an appearance. As much as I love Joss Whedon and think he is an incredible talent and look forward to Serenity...blah, blah, blah... I don't like it when he tries to stretch. Buffy is a great series because he reinvents within the confines of the genre. The Body just bored me to tears. No music IS felt as well as no monsters, etc. I'm sorry him mom died in real life, I'm sorry Buffy's mom died, but it makes for boring tv. As for the musical, nice try, but the songs and voices were weak. When he's in the zone, is when we are full into the Buffy Universe- Fighting Evil Angel, or anytime Faith showed up was a good time for me. |

My favorites were the episodes that can stand alone, no continuing plot needed, the big monsters got tiring. Lots in the first season were like that.
Hush was great, and the one where the adults eat the chocolate bars that make them act like teens and Buffys Mom and Giles hook up. |
