While I agree that these guys should be at least locked away;
from a pure numbers stand point aren't teens more at risk to being harmed and injured through unsafe driving than trollers in @#%$.com ? |

----------------------------------------------------------- I don't think its enough for parents and their children to just watch this show. The lawmakers need to prohibit these perverts from ever owning or using a computer and internet (it should be part of their probation so their probation officer can keep track of them, and the librariers and internet cafes should have a do not allow posters so they can prevent pervs from using their internet service). ---------------------------------------------------------- There's the insanity, the pervs have rights too. I literally busted my ex, who was making moves and filming his new flames teen daughter. I was involved in the entire process, right up to testifying in court and he decided to take a plea. After a year in jail, he's since moved to a new state. He's registered as a sex offender, but he's not on parole, it's time served. He's supposed to have NO CONTACT with children under 18, including his own. His niece is living with them, and I keep hitting a brick wall because he's not breaking actual laws and not on parole to be supervised. I've been with perverted justice for years and he knew it. Yet he found it a challenge to go up against me LOL. |

Quote: LOL! Yeah, welcome to America, where everyone has rights, even people we don't like. Don't get me wrong, I can't in any way, shape or form defend child molestation (nor would I try.) However, it does bug me when people are so quick to want to strip these people of their rights. Once we start doing that, where do we stop? If the justice system is soft on pedos, we need to change the justice system, not strip people of their legal rights. And yet most people are too busy playing armchair quarterback and passing out judgments and wagging their fingers than to get socially active and institute real change. Sorry for the tangent, just a pet peeve. |

My son begged for a my space account too..."all my friends have one". So I said sure, you can have one BUT on one condition-I get password and I can access it anytime I want.
I have checked his emails every once in a while; not much except a bunch of idiotic kids. His profile is "private" so it is invite only, but believe me, I check everything and pop up behind him every once in a while. I also make him aware of every incident involving my space. Hopefully, I am instilling SOME common sense into him and keeping communication open with him remembering I am his mother, not his friend and there will be consequences for any stupid shit. what is with this site....you cant put my space together or it gets ^&@# like it is a bad word....I dont get it |

any bets to when Dateline will spin this off into it's own show?
I just dont understand these guys, have they not seen the 4 other shows they have done on this? You would think the TIVO would have picked this one up based on their viewing habits. |

I just dont understand these guys, have they not seen the 4 other shows they have done on this? You would think the TIVO would have picked this one up based on their viewing habits. --------------------------------------------------------- As mentioned before, I've worked with this group. I think the pervs are feeling safe because they don't realize it's not just happening (each show) in one city. Dateline has been kind enough to do it mostly in the NE, but various states. I've tried my best to get police involved locally, and unfortunately it's going to take media attention to get the attention it deserves in this area. There are rules of engagement (you never IM them first, they approach you, amongst many) and have your log on, set up a profile for a stupid young teen and go in any chatroom and you won't be able to keep up with the IMs. You don't even have to say a word. And like most criminals, they figure they're smarter than the average pedo. There's a whole community that promotes legalizing younger age sex. They ALWAYS ask if you're a cop, with the a)misunderstanding that if you are, you have to admit it. b) you aren't one :-) I think it would make a great show, but it would have to be like Cops. Different cities and different decoys. It can keep you up nights reading PJ, it's just too rampant. If anyone is interested in how you can help, I am bursting with ideas and info. |

Man. It's like sexual predators suddenly appeared on the scene with My Space.
You know what? If you teach your kids common sense and how to use their head in a situation, you don't NEED to be a spy and violate their privacy (which, like it or not, is REALLY important for kids to have, to an extent.) When I was 11, I was approached at the mall by a man who exposed himself and asked me to come to his car with him. I immediately went to the cashier and reported him and then took off. It was scary, but I knew it was wrong and had the sense to take action because my parents taught me that. Now, if your kids aren't particularly careful or otherwise untrustworthy, then I can totally see reading their email or violating their privacy. Trust is earned. But if not, if your kids have proven that they have common sense in other situations (like not using drugs, not smoking, not drinking, not sleeping around) then it's a pretty safe bet that they'll use that same common sense if approached by a predator. It's just possible that they may someday come to resent you for not giving them some credit, assuming they have earned it. |

That said, I do think you all are being good parents by monitoring your kids' internet usage and asking them questions. I want to make that clear. An active parent is a good parent; just try not to cross the line from concerned, active parent to obsessed, intrusive parent.

This didn't just start with My Space. I have AOL & those chat rooms they have are crawling with itty bitty kids who scream out that they are kids by their language, typing skills & screennames. Pervs don't have to look hard at all.
If I were the parent of a pre-teen or teen I'd make damn sure their screenname wasn't something like CutiePie92 (which would infer that she was female & born in 1992) or Duderawks14 (inferring it's a 14 year old boy). Then I'd keep them out of gamerooms like Pogo. I used to play Bingo there & it was mostly older adults with the occ kid coming in just to feel evil & type "fuck" to mess with us. If there were pervs there all they'd have to do was IM that kid to get something going. It's rediculous that lots of parents think that the kid is safe in a game room. Sooo not true. |

Re: Dateline: Pervs on Parade! | ||

exactly, my son has earned his privacy by acting responsibly. Really, the only time I have "invaded" his emails was when he started going on a hunger strike, which I found out was because some girl rejected him. Once I knew the reason why, I was able to tell him how I felt when I was that age and that happened to me and he started eating again. Active, yes.....intrusive, only when I need to be.
Too many parents nowadays are too eager to be buddies to their children...I am not here to be his buddy; he is my child and I am here to raise my child and guide him to grow up and be a strong, feeling, responsible man. We can be buddies when he is 18 and on his own. |

looks like they are having some court room scenes in new one
so, in SoCal, this young girl was chatting with some perv and invited him to her school when he arrived at the school, he told the security that he was her uncle there to pick her up trouble was he didn't know her name; had it written on a piece of paper Security turned him in |

The midget last night was gross looking. No telling what he has growing on his dick.
Next week there in Florida. A perv brings his little kid with him. And how about the sister that is waiting in the car with her screaming kid while her perv brother goes into the house to get off! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON! |

I watched last nite, too.
Mr. HIO and I were wondering how they can logistically (and legally) arrest them for something they haven't done...yet. It's very Minority Report-ish. I've wondered the same thing for awhile with the cop busts for solicitation of prostitutes. They're luring them in and prcatically BEGGING them to do something. Don't get me wrong, I think that these are the absolute most VILE people on the face of the earth, and I'm glad that they're being punished, but it just seems off to me--almost scary like anyone can be arrested for anything at anytime if they even THINK about doing something wrong. I'll be watching next week, too. This is almost like a warped version of Candid Camera. |
