Quote: Errr... I don't think that's the case. I'm pretty sure Alias returns the first week of January 2005. Even if Desperate Housewives runs without reruns from now until the end of December, they couldn't possibly squeeze 22 episodes in that short amount of time! The show has probably only received a standard 13-episode order (like Lost) so far with a chance at a midseason return if it's successful (and the replacements--Grey's Anatomy, Eyes, Blind Justice--tank). Then again, Boston Legal and/or Life as We Know could wind up being ratings flops. Who knows? I just hope the show got good ratings tonight! Can't wait to find out tomorrow morning. ABC is the best of the 6 networks right now. If only Once & Again and The Practice were still on, too. |

Anybody else think that it had an American Beauty look and feel? That is one of my all time favorite movies. Even the street looked similar.

I totally get the American Beauty feel. It has the hook of a dead narrator, a sardonic look at suburbia and a cast of quirky characters.
I hate to sound like a broken record - but I am scared. Twin Peaks, Homefront, Young Indy, Young Riders, China Beach, Thirtysomething and many more dramas debuted on ABC to critical acclaim and huge opening numbers. None of them saw a second or third season. I am scared ABC is going to screw up Desperate Housewives and Lost similarly. T.G.It's not F.riday should be their new slogan! |

Quote: BEST SHOW EVER! SI how old are you? That show was from 92 or summat. I always pictured you as a youngin for some reason. I hope DH does only get 12 episodes this season. I think one of the reasons American shows tend to get sucky so fast is that they have too many episodes and they run out of stories. I like British shows for just that reason. They are like 6 to 8 episodes a season and then they end before they have a chance to suck. I would rather that. |

Great show!
I got that American Beauty vibe and it was confirmed when they were at the table and the kids were telling the mom she was far too "perfect" and she asked the hubby to "Say something" and he says "Pass the salt". ABC has def. got it going on. Lost, DW, Boston Legal...I'm pretty happy with TV for a change. Now, just like all my other shows they will be cancelled. |

Quote: Fortunately for us, ABC desperately needs a hit. Between that and the new president (as already mentioned), these two might just have a fighting chance to get into second seasons. |

Re: Desperate Housewives | ||
Quote: Watching this from the perspective that it's a pilot, this is TOTALLY an angle that we'll see evolve during the season. Also, another plot point will be how or why Felicity Huffman had a miscarriage....she's got a baby and triplets yet she mentioned that she had been pregnant 3 times in 5 years or something like that. We'll also learn more about Teri Hatcher and why the divorce, and more about why the other one whose name I can't think of hooked up with the 17 year old. What I like about this is that because this is all done from Brenda Strong's viewpoint, prospective plots aren't as important...we know where we are, and thus with a dead narrator, they can develop past plots to get us to where we are in the present. Very interesting perspective. |

Were they triplets? I thought it was twins plus one.

what happened in the last 10 minutes? I missed it. But this was a great show. I agree, it's just like American Beauty. Is the dead woman going to nararate through the entire series I wonder?

last ten minutes:
Terri Hatcher found out that Edi (the blonde slutty one) was having a"Male caller" for the night so she went to her house under the premise to borrow some sugar. She knocked and didn't get an answers so, like all of us would do.. NOT, she walked in to see candles burning, Barry White playing on the stereo and Edi's clothes all over the floor. She then hears Edi having sex upstairs and gives in to the fact that Edi got the plumber in bed. She tosses Edi's bra backwards, takes a chocolate out of the bowl on the table and then sees a fire has started where she tossed the bra. She tries to out the fire with a glass of champagne, realizes she can't and runs out of the house. We see the house in flames! The women are all watching it burn and find out the man she had with her was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Terri Hatcher is stood there by the police line and the plumber walks up. It was not him with Edi having sex. We then see the women packing up the dead womans stuff for the husband and a letter falls out, they read it it says something like "I know what you did, It was horrible, I am going to tell" postmarked the day she committed suicide. Now they have to find out what the gal did. Previews show plumber man with a gun and on the phone saying he is "close" to something. He's now a bad guy with a guy, or a cop. My guess. Bad guy with a gun. Bad synopsis but you get the drift! *LOL* Oh yes, terri hatcher dropped her measuring cup in Edi's house, will that come back to haunt her? |

I'll recheck my ReplayTV. I assumed that they were triplets because they were all dressed alike, but if you say it's twins plus one, then OK...I'll buy that.
Damn...there goes a plot twist for me.... |

That's why it was so good! Ten minutes, you miss a lot! I actually saw it at 7 pm and 9 pm (how DESPERATE WAS I) Good thing too, I missed a lot of great lines and small moments that were 'not so small'. Like American Beauty, you have to absorb every 'look' , 'comment', 'interaction'...watching television has now become a monstrous challenge (I need Cole's Notes)

Wow, loved this show.
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. What a range for this one. Sexy and psychotic in MP and prim and psychotic in DH. It was campy, trampy and vampy. Loved that Pleasantville look with the neighborhood, the Twin Peak's tinge with the characters and a dash of First Wives Club. Narration by a dead woman was just an added bonus. Hopefully this won't go the way from subtle to over the top where it ends up ridiculous. Definitely a thumbs up |
