It looks like mythology-driven dramas are going to become like reality tv shows a few years ago.

It's not surprising that with the success of LOST many shows will try to use a similar format. It just depends if they do it in a way that will have people watch instead of shunning it for being like LOST.

They already have an X-Men knockoff. I forgot the name. It sucks.
And Invasion is a LOST knockoff. Plus there is a really stupid kid's version of LOST on Saturday morning. |

Andromeda, Tarzan, Beast Master, Hercules, Mutant X...those shows are B-TV. Hereos will at least have a budget, half decent stars, a timeslot and the potential to be good. I think this show will be more like Unbreakable with more people. It will be about them figuring out what they can do, why they can do it and what to do with it now that they've got it. It won't be like X-men where they team up to fight evil....at least I hope not. |

They have a first look preview at this show on NBC:
Sneak Preview at Heroes X-Men clone or not, I think this show looks amazing. Definitely has a feature film feel to it. And very gritty. |

Maybe Heroes can turn the NBC ship around, like Lost and Desperate Housewives did for ABC.

It looks really weird. The cheerleader is still my favorite, but the artist who can paint the future ends up dying? And the Japanese teleportation dude is kinda lame.

It looks like it should be pretty damn good.
Everything is a "knock-off" of something else. But the term knockoff is "An unauthorized copy or imitation" and is associtated with being negative. I wouldn't consider it a knockoff of the X-men unless they are "mutants" that team up together to fight bad/evil "mutants" and/or protect or meddle in the lives of normal people. Xmen are not considered "heroes" amongst society, nor do they get recognition as such. If the plot takes them down the road (something along the lines) of being mutants and they team up after becoming outcasts, then some of them split off, become evil and take revenge on the human population, then the "good" mutants fight the evil ones to protect mutant reputation and to save humans, THEN I would consider this a knockoff of the Xmen. I doubt that will happen. I don't believe they're a knock off of the 4400 either, unless the plot line takes them down the road (something along the lines of) being abducted by humans from the future, given these special powers, and then are sent back to use their powers to prevent some catastrophe from happening... (KILL ISABELL - for those that watch lol) We should wait until we actually see a few episodes and see how the plot develops before we refuse to watch or criticize the show because "we think" its a knock off of xmen, 4400, justice league, comic book superheroes, etc. Superheroes are VERY popular right now... with the success of The Incredibles, Sky high, Batman, Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Superman and coming movies, (Iron Man, Spiderman3, and others) its only natural for TV networks to CA$H in on it by taking bits and pieces of current, popular tv/movie/books, changing a little or a LOT, and come up with something new and/or different. I can hardly wait to see this show! I hope this show isn't a knockoff and I hope NBC doesn't fuck it up by turning it into one, especially if its a hit. We all know that if a show with this many cast members becomes a hit, people will have to die in order to keep the budget down lol. I will definitely check it out. |
