Re: Will NBC's "Heroes" be the new "Lost?& | ||

I hate how they put an Asian in the cast just because Asians watch LOST and want Asians in the cast. That's the only reason for it. This whole show is pandering and just trying to make $ off whatever is popular right now, and it'll end up just being a dull mixture of various superior elements.

It's quite possible this could be one of the only tv acting shows that I may watch in years. I watch War at Home mostly because it falls in between Simpsons and Family Guy, other then that, I haven't watched ANY tv acting shows since STNG came to an end. How long ago was that!?!
Mind you I watch Sopranos, Band of Brothers, etc but I never really considered that 'tv acting'. |

I wish there were a racist "asian Omarosa" pic so I could post it but no such thing exists
C'mon Asians start getting indignant! Call people out on racism in outragerous ways! White people need to defend something. |

Ok, maybe I'm generalizing, but here in San Francisco, LOST has a TON of Asian fans. I just figured that Heroes was purposely putting in an Asian for both that reason and the fact that they figure Asian Americans are into anime/sci-fi. It just doesn't make sense to have a show where all the superheroes happen to be American and one is from Asia......what about the rest of the world?
I'm not overly offended by it. I just think it shows that the networks care more about demographics than anything else, and maybe that shouldn't surprise me. |

Maybe the show just wants a diverse cast?
Anyway, I WILL be watching this show. I like the curly-haired black(?) woman. She's niiiiiice. |

Re: !!! | ||
Quote: If they were goign for that demographic--why not add an ASIAN AMERICAN character? Chances are they just want a diverse cast in general and the actor who tried out for the role had an accent so they changed his backstory. Similar to what happened in LOST. Take a look at all the new shows, diverse casts are in. |

^ That is true.
And I'll give this show a chance if the critics start yapping about how great it is. But to be honest, it totally reminds me of last season when everyone was trying to get on the LOST bandwagon by putting out a million science fiction series. Luckily, LOST's ratings have been disintegrating (don't get me wrong, I like the show), so the networks shouldn't keep introducing us to similarly themed sci-fi shows in order to try to take a piece of the cake. |

I think the whole cast asians so asians will watch thing is hooey. I'm a caucasian and I too have watched movies solely due to there being asians in them: Smooth as Silk, Anal Asian 2: The Won-ton Woman, and anything with Mimi Miyagi.

I think the NBC's ads for this are pathetic, even laughable. So, I was hoping to see something better from the preview. Couldn't get it to load. I may still take a look at the first eppy, though.

That's Hayden Panettiere. She was the eldest daughter in Raising Helen and played Coach Yoast's daughter in Remember the Titans.

The show has the token black guy because if there isn't any blacks the show's racist. Dear god. I guess I'm happy for the Middle Eastern and Asian characters for "diversity".
