The ones who make money are the ones who get labor for free or incredibly cheap- like picking up Julios at the corner and paying them five cash an hour.
The ones who contract out everything get crucified. |

I thought that Flip That House (or This House, I always get them mixed up) was pulled off the air when it was determined that Sam from Atlanta was actually a
con artist, and he alleged that the production crew knew about it. TLC, or whatever network was running it, wanted no part of him anymore, and the show was
canceled because of the negative publicity the show was getting. Maybe they are rerunning the shows again, but not the ones that featured him.

flip that house. flip the other house. whatever. i guess i could have started another thread. (but then you has to do all of that begging to p'ha and what not. i'm not up to that tonight.) because what i really want to talk about is this "holmes on holmes" show. anybody seen this? this holmes mutherfucker is the man. he comes in after a contractor sez "i can do that for $10,000", after the unsuspecting homeowner sez "hell yes!" and of course, the contractor fucks it up. then holmes comes in. and immediately dispatches like a thousand workers to the site. and they super code all repairs to deliver a fix to the homeowner that would have cost them at least 1000x of the original estimate. but somehow money is never mentioned. does mike deliver? hell yes! could anyone ever afford this pompous ass? hell no! blow me mike holmes. i'm sure it would be great to build a great home with like 10,000 of your workers and all. but aside from tv... no one can afford that... |

CRIME 'Flip This House' star indicted in Travis CountyArmando Montelongo accused of failing to pay real estate appraiser.
A San Antonio-based real estate developer featured on the cable television show "Flip This House" has been indicted by a Travis County grand jury on a theft of service charge. Armando Montelongo Jr., 36, faces up to two years in state jail if convicted. The indictment, handed up Wednesday, charges that from January 2006 through February 2007 Montelongo failed to pay home appraisal fees in Travis County. According to an arrest affidavit, Montelongo hired Reliance Appraisal Services of Austin to perform several appraisals but never paid. The cost of those appraisals was $4,125, the affidavit said. Montelongo is due in court March 3. He has no lawyer listed in court files and could not be reached for comment. The show's Web site says he is one of three real estate developers who attempt to fix up old, run down houses and sell them for a profit on "Flip This House," which airs on A&E. Montelongo heads Montelongo House Buyers, the Web site said, and "is a hard-driving entrepreneur flipping over 300 houses a year." skreytak@statesman.com; 912-2946 |

So what was the outcome? I used to love watching these shows until I saw what was happening around the country with others thinking they could do the same get
rich quick schemes. Also, Remember Jeffery on Flipping Out? Is that show gone also?

four grand is chump change to Montelago.
Fun to watch those shows now. Saw some black guy in Pasadena try to flip a house- he thought he was going to make a cool 150 thousand, but the last sentence on the screen for episode said he lost 60 grand on it. sixty grand! |

Cool! I wonder if Ginger and the rest of the crew are still the same?
I'm a RE agent in SC and I showed one of their flips to a buyer a few years ago. It was the one where the dumpster rolled down the driveway and crushed the car.

Didn't the Armondo guy get sued by someone when he said the home was worth more than it was? I swear I read something like that somewhere. I hate those
flip shows with the groups doing it. I prefer the ones with random people who try to get rich quick.

Anyone else watching this show?
I'm a little pissed off. The CT Homes guys (Than, Paul, JP) moved their operation to San Diego. WTF is that about. While I like this group of guys, I loved the New England charm they found in renovating old clapboard houses. Now they are going stucco just like so many of the other California based flipping shows. Another bunch of fame media whores and their wives now who abandoned poor old Conn. |
