>> Finally, figured out the template for this show...it's not "Friends". It's "Frasier". <<
I caught about twenty minutes of this tonight and that's the first thing that struck me but Niles was a much better character on Frasier than Sheldon was on this, IMO. I thought the laugh track was the absolute worst part of the show and killed it for me. And as much as I like Sara Gilbert something is missing. Maybe she's too subdued. I'm sorry that I missed last week's episode - I think it must have been the peak of the series. But I might give it another try since everyone here seems to think it's so good. |

I'm still enjoying this show. I'm starting to watch it before some of my other faves even. Sara Gilbert's character is funny to me. She's like
deadpan. Too funny when she told Leonard she's good till New Year's. Sheldon cracks me up with all his deadpan remarks too.

Last night was hysterical! I'm sure since I love it they'll can it.
Maybe it's just for me that I watch SO many dramas, this show is the perfect opposite. I LMAO at everything Sheldon says. |

Hmmm, you're right. A rather absurd statement on my part. I'm still sorry I missed the episode everyone is talking about. Hopefully I'll catch it on a rerun. |

Sugarsmummy.....did you catch it this week?
Again, and maybe it's because I'm such a nerd myself, this makes me laugh out loud time after time. I wonder if the humor, especially some of the bigger words, goes over the heads of the average viewer and that is why the laugh track is so obnoxious. |

Already a kiss between Penny and Leonard! I like the way Leonard played it.
But I find the Leonard-Penny storyline easily the most tiresome of the show. It's not funny, it's pathetic. Not because Leonard doesn't deserve a hot chick like Penny or necessarily that Penny is out of his league, it's that the two don't have any chemistry and there's no reason to believe they would be a good couple. So it's just Leonard pining after an unattainable woman that's not even a good match for him and it's pitiful. If they insist on continuing the Leonard has a crush on Penny plot at least give us reason to care about the two coming together so Leonard doesn't look like an idiot consistently. It seems to me Penny's role should be more as a friend who exposes the gang to the non-geek world. And now I get off my soapbox. It was a funny episode and loved Rajh getting laid. |

This show would be so much better with a love interest who was more compatible with the guys. How can we feel bad for geeky men pining after beauties when the
geeks are just as shallow? Get some brainy goth girl or a horny D&D dungeonmistress in the mix.

I gave this show a few shots and I've ended up vomiting everytime. Moving on. You guys are lucky that Chuck Lorre is the exec. producer and that there
might be a writer's strike or else it would be cancelled.

my favorite parts are always when the geeks go into super geek talk with each other - i feel like part of a special nerdy club who's inside jokes most ppl
won't get. the love interest is totally bland forgettable. zero personality.
and that half naked guy = YUM |

Penny. I think she brings an intelligence and likability to her character that could easily be lost. But she and Leonard are better as friends. The show is
forcing the old sitcom cliche of "will-they-or-won't-they" couple.

Here's the thing about this show. You HAVE to be a dork to get it & love it. This show makes me laugh hysterically each & every week. I get the
jokes & find them hilarious. I made my hubby watch it last night & he, um, just didn't get it. Now he's a dork too, but in a completely
different way. All the comic book stuff & LOTR stuff had me in stitches & Sheldon doing his Doppler effect had me just dying with laughter in large
part because I happen to be related to a person very much like Sheldon (which mostly just made my husband uncomfortable, as it did everyone at the party). You
have to actually like these people- which means you kind of have to be one of them.
I'm afraid this show is playing to a small crowd. Granted, a small but ADORING crowd, but these are some seriously specific jokes. They are going to have to broaden if they want to get & keep an audience. But Raj with the girl in the end- oh my gosh... that was better than "this is how we roll in the shire!" |

See i don't buy the Leonard - Penny relationship not because he's a geek, but because he's ugly. I know he's ugly because he's supposed to
be, but funny geeks can be a little more normal looking like that and make the romance angle a little more attainable in the belief separtment, but still be a
struggle.
Sheldon on the other hand just looks geeky weird. |
