Samuel Jackson Ep | ||
|
Though every show is funny as hell, they all seem to have the same structure. He tries to get a speaking part. His friend tries to meet a man. They both say the wrong things and he winds up not getting speaking part.

I think last night's episode was the best so far, especially his female friend trying not to offend a black prospective boyfriend.

Quote: Watch the season finale. The structure is completely different in that one and I think it'll have a major effect on the route they take in season 2. |

I love this show. I love this kind of dry humor like that. I love when its back to back with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" because both of them make you laugh out loud. Ricky is so funny trying to get that speaking line. The Ben Stiller one was so funny. oh yea the guy with the big shoe, all of it is just stuff you don't laugh at, because it's not right, but the way its done, and the way its always ultimately making an ass of Ricky, its hilarious.

I loved Ricky's last line to Maggie: "It's been a great day being friends with you" or something like that.
In light of her being a complete tard and the last scene with Sam Jackson - we laughed forever over that one line. "Right up the drainpipe" was funny as well. |

Quote: There is also the recurring theme: "No new friends, for me, thankyouverymuch." E.g. the routine he has for getting out of parties/events he doesn't want to attend: "Oh what day is that"? My sister will be visiting then..." and in the last epi the detour into the cemetery to visit his "mother's grave" when the wannabe friend trails along--and then at the end pressured into going out to dinner, getting out of it by dropping his face into the soup -- several times---- so much is funny in context -- hard to excerpt -- Ricky: "... Rosa Parks..." Maggie: "I didn't know this took place in a park..." |

HBO's been showing some past episodes. My god, Kate Winslet was absolutely hilarious. "Like we need another Holocaust movie. Yes we get it. It was grim." "Schindler's bloody List. The Pianist. Oscars comin' outta their ass."
"I've never been touched by a priest. Touched by God. Oh, not in that way...." |

This brings back great memories.
The Les Dennis episode was classic. How come no one mentioned the ridiculously OTT gay father and the inappropriate musical interlude he had with his emotionally suffocated daughter at her "birthday party"? It was wrong on soooo many levels. The fake cemetary scene. The awkward conversation with the priest. Kate Winslet in all her glorious un-PC finest. Patrick Stewart. The horrifically uncomfortable pub scene with Les Dennis. Great stuff. The second season should be coming up soon in the UK. |

Quote: No idea, I 'acquired' the Brit DVD and it's quite fantastic. Hilarious special features. I believe I read HBO is simply stating it will be out on DVD this year. Probably in the fall or maybe just before the 2nd season premieres. |

CH is gonna cut the episodes down to 20 minutes (from what? 25-26 minutes?) and they're gonna have to cut out all the profanity and nudity, too.
Glad I downloaded it as it aired. |

That was the first episode in the US IIRC.

Meh. I'm going to download it. I hate that they always chop up the British shows.

Wow, they're not bleeping the swearing. Could they have been stupid enough to acquire the rights without even watching it?
They can get in some serious trouble, being a basic cable broadcast network and all (and on at 8:30). Didn't watch enough of it to see how they chopped it up for time, though. |

WOW, look at the lineup for next season!! -- Rock legend David Bowie is among an amazing galaxy of stars appearing in the new series of Ricky Gervaiss hit show Extras, The Sun can reveal. Hollywood A-list hunk Orlando Bloom, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe also have roles in the comedy. In one episode Ricky as TV and film extra Andy Millman even puckers up for a gay kiss with Da Vinci Code actor Sir Ian McKellen. Ricky, 44, had a host of celebrities begging for bit parts playing themselves in the second series of the show. Hunky Pirates of the Caribbean star Bloom, 29, plays a character desperate to date Extras unlucky-in-love Maggie (Ashley Jensen) but she spurns him. An insider said last night: Orlando demands she kiss him but she refuses and hes incensed. Hes not used to being treated like that. Its brilliant Orlando totally sends himself up. Ricky began filming on Monday in Hertfordshire with co-creator Stephen Merchant, who helped write The Office. The insider said: Ricky had dozens of people ask for a part. But the names hes got are fantastic and Rickys chuffed to bits. Orlando Bloom, Bowie and Chris Martin are amazing signings. |
