LeeLee being Necrolai's daughter is something I don't think anybody called. Good on the writers for pulling one on us.

I am probably the only person who thinks Lost Galaxy was the best season the show ever had. I hated Space.

No, Space SUCKED above ALL.
And don't try to claim that the ending with Zordon makes it the best because that doesn't count. |

Space was horrid.
Oh well, let's make a fucking ranking thread out of this thing: 1. Lost Galaxy - No season gave us this much character development (MMPR technically did, but they had three seasons to develop some people like Kimberly, and LG had to do it all at once). The special effects were impressive for such a low-budget show, the cast was great, and this season by far had the most amount of non-morphed footage. 2. S.P.D. - I long for more kids shows like this. Sure, some of the actors really suck (ahem...Sky), but each ranger was their own individual character, and nobody blended in with the background like in some of the lesser series. Special effects were perhaps at their 14-year best (it's gone down with MF, surprisingly). 3. MMPR - The classic. If it aired today the same way it was produced it would have failed miserably because kids today just don't go for that kind of stuff. It is what makes Power Rangers what it is today, though. By far the most memorable cast. 4. Ninja Storm - Starting with three rangers and gradually adding more allowed for better character development, and they picked actors who were charismatic enough to hold a series on their own. 5. Time Force - This one is ranked high on story alone. Wes and Jen were great standout rangers, but the other three lacked dramatically. However, the plot was so good that it saves this season from being further down the list. 6. Zeo - All it is is MMPR without the charm. Structurally, it's the same show. 7. Space - In theory it looked great. If it were done today it would be fantastic. In 98 it probably was fantastic. But their priorities were all wrong. 8.Turbo - Marked the end of the MMPR era with the departure of Tommy, Adam and Kat. It actually wasn't that terribly bad, but the actors were getting a bit too old. And let's not forget that ridiculously annoying Justin kid. Ugh. 9. Dino Thunder - Very, very meh. Not quite bad, but not quite good. I always hated Tommy so his return meant nothing to me. 10. Lightspeed Rescue - I don't think it would be possible for them to find a less charismatic cast if they tried. Carter was a tool, Joel was an arrogant prick, Dana was boring and catatonic, Kelsey was underused and Chad...was he even there? 11. Wild Force - The. Worst. Piece. Of. Crap. I've. Ever. Seen. "Never give up!"??? WHAT. THE. FLYING. FUCK? I didn't rank Mystic Force because it's a bit early. |

Re: Power Rangers: Mystic Force

roadie, we know that our taste > theirs. Let's leave it at that.
Some of my fave Space moments: - Astronema impersonating Yellow Ranger - Carlos injuring Cassie in battle - The Andros vs Astronema fights - The Psycho Ranger eps, esp. when Cassie was being tracked and needed to stay quiet - Countdown to Destruction - Big black woman (Adele?) declaring she's the Pink Ranger Only eps I disliked were Justin's return and the Ninja Turtles...I actually watched that TMNT show but that was so out of place. My personal rankings: ...even though I only watched periodically after Lost Galaxy 1) Space - I loved Astronema, Andros, Ashley, Cassie, the Psychos, and the concept of all the previous baddies getting together. 2) MMPR 1 - Looking back, this only ranks high because of the nostalgia. IMO it had the best morphing sequence...short, simple, but brilliant. None of the later fancier sequences have been as memorable. Yup, this would not hold up to kids' standards today. I showed some MMPR eps to my 7-10 year old cousins and they didn't like it. :( 3) MMPR 3 - Well, I like ninjas, and I was really into the Alien Rangers mini-series and the quest for the Zeo crystals. I was so disappointed when Aisha didn't come back. 4) Lost Galaxy - Great cast. Great character and story development. Great villain. I especially love the return of the Psychos and Karone, Kendrix's death, and the finale. 5) Mystic Force (so far) - I've already expressed my love for this cast minus Nick. I love the theme, the villains, the unconventional zords, even Clare...I usually hate the comic relief characters. 6) Time Force - Once again, great cast and story. I found them all distinctly interesting. Having a tough-as-nails pink ranger as leader was nice to see. But of course, Red was still always in the middle and got all the extra weapons/armor...go figure. I wish I had seen the whole season. 7) MMPR 2 - I didn't like Rocky, Adam, and Aisha at first. Se-be-too-tay-ga? Thanks for ruining it, Aisha. Zedd didn't measure up to Rita. 8) Zeo - Something seemed off with this. I missed the pre-morphed putty fights (or with whatever footsoldiers of the season). I did like how the new series per season was finally adapted. Saban could only milk the Zyuranger costumes for so long; I guess having to film their own fight scenes became tiring. 9) Ninja Storm - I thought I'd like the ninja theme, but the annoying yellow ranger dude, the hamster, and the evil bimbo nieces killed it for me. 10) Wild Force - I kinda liked Taylor and Alyssa, but this season had a really dumb red ranger, and the other two guys were just as bad. Yellow should have stayed leader. Too many zords. Princess Shayla was annoying. OMG, Toxica has got to be the cheesiest henchwoman, and that chant was the cheesiest monster growing ritual ever. 11) Turbo - Justin...'nuff said for the low ranking. However, I liked Divatox, and I wish the whole Dimitria was her sister thing was cleared up. 12) Lightspeed Rescue - Horrible cast who seemed like a much duller version of Lost Galaxy. The black cowboy dude was awful. As a fan of yellow rangers, Kelsey was the worst. This season turned me off from Power Rangers. I liked Vypra though. I can't really judge Dino Thunder and SPD since I only saw the season openers. I would have watched the rest, but I used to work Sat mornings. How were those seasons anyway? Dino Thunder seemed to have another generic boring red ranger, but the return of Tommy seemed cool. I thought SPD kinda looked promising. I liked Green. I liked Yellow's duplication powers and her fight with Pink. Oh, and I read about the A-Squad Rangers (Space Rangers ripoff) who turned evil and how they had a female red ranger. I'm behind with Mystic Force episodes here in Canookia :( or at least with the ABC channel where I watch it. I still haven't even seen Stranger Within Part 1. Quote: Machine Empire? It was just the Astralborgs and the Green Beetleborg. Gadf1y! I watched most of Bioman a while ago. You pinoys were lucky. Yellow 4 getting killed was tragic. With her bitchiness, she was a true pioneer...the first female yellow ranger, so she didn't have the 'gentle female' stereotype that was imposed on pink rangers. The special effects seemed advanced for the time. I liked the fight scenes much better than MMPR, since they put in super jumping and flying attacks...or whatever they were. I like dramatic ranger deaths. There should be more...like I wouldn't mind getting a new red ranger in Mystic Force. Too bad it might only happen if an actor leaves. Kendrix was killed off because she was diagnosed with some disease, I think. |

Re: Power Rangers: Mystic Force

Don't get me wrong, Space had some great moments (especially the Cassie-can't-speak episode and the one where they all turned into blue rangers to confuse the Psychos), but ultimately the story wasn't a satisfying enough conclusion to Zordon's saga. I believe Lost Galaxy did so much more effectively. That's what PRiS should've been.

Quote: Awesome! Have you had a chance to check out other '80s/early 90s sentai series (namely, Maskman, Liveman, and Jetman)? Quote: Indeed. What a tough cookie. Her one-on-one fight scenes with Faracat were great. Even Jun, who was pretty tough herself, never had fight scenes as intense as Casey's. Pity. Anyway, old school sentai > Saban's PR > current sentai > Disney's PR. I wish they'd release MMPR seasons 1-3 on DVD. PR Time Force, too. Couldn't really care less about the other editions--though the red ranger in Lost Galaxy and the green ranger in Mystic Force are HOT. So hot... :alien |

Re: Power Rangers: Mystic Force

Farrahcat has got to be the fiercest henchwoman I've seen. Loved how she was one of the last villains to die. Yeah, June was awesome too. My fave June fight was in the Bioman movie where she fought all those other Farrahcat girls. They actually got pierced by June's arrows...something I'm not used to seeing in PR. Farrah herself was fugly.
BTW, lol how your first pink ranger was named Kimberly too. Quote: I've seen some of Maskman and Liveman, and a lot of Jetman. Maskman - They had ranger earrings! It's not surprising that I liked Yellow Mask the best. She was the ninja and had the best powers with the duplication thing. Let me guess, all the Filipino kids imitated the hand guestures back then. The one that Black does looks painful. I've never seen this episode here. Can you explain what the hell happened to Pink Mask? Liveman - I can see how Ninja Storm took ideas from this. The red robot girl who helped them was weird, and all the villains looked rather stylish. The fact that the villains were former classmates was interesting. Jetman - I already mentioned how I think this is the best sentai series ever. It's so story driven and the most development of characters and relationships I've seen. For me, Maria ranks as one of the most intriguing villains ever. This was supposed to be the first Power Rangers season, but looking back it's probably good that it didn't pull through. Saban would have bastardized the intensity of this show. Billy and Trini would have swiched colors, and can you imagine the morphing sequence? Condor! Swan! Owl! Quote: Agreeance, but I think Disney is getting better. Wild Force and Ninja Storm sucked, but it's gradually improving. Quote: Ya, why hasn't there been any full season DVDs? Um, Leo didn't become hot until later. |

Re: Power Rangers: Mystic Force

Morphin - Duh.
Zeo - Great Series. I loved the Machine Empire and the Gold Ranger saga Lost Galaxy - Interesting story with nothing to take away from it. Plus Maya was hot. Turbo - This season could have been very good. The villian was interesting but the water villian + cars didn't make much since... plus Justin... plus ditching all the rangers because they were too old is probably what killed this season. Time Force - Better than Space Space - While Astronema is probably the second redeemable villian (FIRE THE STALASERS!!!) that plot was so cliche and I saw it coming in the very beginning. I couldn't care less about any of the other characters (since they were the big reason I didn't like the end of Turbo) while the ending was good....it pretty much brought back all the good villians from the past seasons and therefore can't considered a real part of Space. Then floating because I didn't watch enough of the series... Lightspeed - Horrible concept. Refused to watch. Wild Force - The zords concept reminded me too much of Lost Galaxy and they spent way too time on Merick for me to stay more than a few episodes. Ninja Storm - I wanted to like this... but I couldn't stand the "dueling rangers" concept. And the hamster. Dino Thunder - Interesting at first but I realized how bringing back an old ranger can drag a series. I was over the Green/White/Red/Red Ranger that is Tommy Oliver. Plus, why Dinosaurs again?! S.P.D. - I know next to nothing about this series. |

LOL. DesCha, we have the best taste in everything. That's all it matters.
Notice how PR stopped being campy and kid-friendly after Turbo? It completely eliminated the high-school teen element. No more bumbling villains. Less Bulk and Skull. I believe Space took the PR franchise to a darker (and much better) direction. Quote: Can you clarify this? I vaguely remember this episode. Gadf1y, where can I download old eps of Bioman? This Sentai talk is really bringing me back a lot of nostalgic memories. Farrahcat <3 And Yellow 4's death was indeed tragic. I personally liked Bioman, Maskman, Jetman and Turboman. Fiveman was waaaay too campy. |

Quote: Maskman was my fave as a kid. I preferred it over Bioman (which was more "my brother's show"). I had such a crush on Michael Joe/Red Mask... :alien Have you been following the last sentai series? I must say, it's better than the crap from the last couple of years. I'm loving it. And I kinda have a crush on BoukenRed--warped nose and all. Quote: Oddsentai had a huge torrent available a couple of months ago with all of the episodes + the movie. It's gone now, but the first three episodes are available for direct download here. I can upload some episodes, too, if you'd like. |
