That actually happened in the Lost Galaxy season. The original pink ranger, Kendrix, sacrificed herself in battle and was replaced by previous season's In Space villain, Astronema, who turned good, Karone.

That situation would most likely not happen again due to the fact that Disney took over the Power Rangers series.

Here's some short interesting facts about each season for the returning fans who want to know:

MMPR- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
-The American season that started it all
-A movie of this season was released in theaters called, A Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie.

MMAR- Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers
-The technically first male yellow ranger, Tidius
-The first season which contained a core team leader as a female, Delphine.

PRZ-Power Rangers Zeo
-The command center occupied by Zordon and Alpha was destroyed
-Original red ranger, Jason, returned in this season as the Gold Zeo ranger.

PRT- Power Rangers Turbo
-A movie was was made for this season called, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, in which told the story of how they got their Turbo powers.

-First season to have a person of African descent as their leader, T.J.
-The beginning pink ranger, Kat, green ranger, Adam, and red ranger, Tommy, gave up their ranger powers to 3 new teens.

PRIS- Power Rangers In Space

-First season to have romance ensue between ranger and villain.
6th ranger, Zhane, found romance with main villain Astronema.
-Leader of the In Space team is from another planet and in a shocking twist, was revealed to be the brother of the season's main villain, Astronema.
-6th ranger, Zhane, known as the Silver Space Ranger, was also from another planet.
-In, arguably, the most dramatic conclusion any series, when almost the entire planet was doomed under the control of villains of previous seasons, the legendary Zordon asked red Space ranger, Andros, to destroy him in order to release a power strong enough to conquer all that is evil.
-As the power of Zordon defeated evil, previous villains Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, and Divatox, all turned into human form becoming good.

PRLG-Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
-First season to have a ranger die.
-Pink ranger, Kendrix, sacrifices herself to defeat evil in battle and dies.
-She in replaced with none other than Karone, a now good character, who was previously known as Astronema, the villain of the In Space series.
-First season to consist of all adult rangers.
-Teamed up with the In Space rangers

PRLR- Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
-First season in which the people of the city knew the identities of the rangers.
-These rangers used their ranger powers and equipment to aid city disasters such as building fires.
-Only season to have an American-created ranger, Ryan, the Titanium Ranger
-Teamed up with the Lost Galaxy rangers

PRTF- Power Rangers Time Force
-Considered to be the darkest season of Power Rangers
-In premiere episode, the red Ranger, Alex, is killed in a fierce battle coincidentally to be replaced by Wes, who looks exactly as Alex did.
-The first season with an alien ranger; the green Time Force ranger, Trip
-Teamed up with the Lightspeed Rescue rangers

PRWF- Power Rangers Wild Force
-In an episode entitled, Forever Red, 10 red rangers, including all from past seasons, returned to fight an immense evil rooted back to Lord Zedd.
-Teamed up with the Time Force rangers

PRNS- Power Rangers Ninja Storm
-First season filmed outside the U.S., in New Zealand
-First season consisting of foreign-born actors, playing rangers.
-First season to have a consistent running of two core ranger teams.
-Previous to getting their ranger powers, each ranger had previous ninja training at their secret ninja training academies.
-The first team, consisting of good rangers, were known as the Wind Rangers.
-The second team, consisting of evil brother rangers, were known as the Thunder Rangers.
-The Wind and Thunder Rangers would eventually merge to become one team with a later addition of the Green Samurai Ranger.
-The first female blue ranger, Tori.
-The rangers' mentor was a Guinea pig, who was previously their Sensei who was transformed by the main villain, Lothor.
-Sensei and Lothor were actually brothers.
-Green samurai ranger, Cam, was actually the son of Sensei.
-Second season to have romance ensue between ranger and villain.
In one episode, Dustin, the yellow Wind Ranger, fell for one of Lothor's nieces, Marah. However, Marah's intent was to become close with one of the rangers in order to infiltrate their command headquarters. Dustin was betrayed by Marah in battle as she revealed her true evil identity. However, as the episode ended, it showed Marah feeling guilt for what she had done.
-Due to production moving in New Zealand, this was the first season to end the chain of consistent ranger team-ups as the Ninja Storm rangers did not team up with the Wild Force rangers.

PRDT- Power Rangers Dino Thunder
-This season saw the return of legendary ranger, Tommy, a now living scientist who teaches the 3 core Dino Thunder Rangers.
-Tommy becomes the black Dino Thunder Ranger.
-The main villain, Mesogog, is actually the mutated father of white Dino Thunder Ranger, Trent.
-This season restarted the trend of ranger season team-ups
-This season had a team-up episode with the Ninja Storm rangers, who were under evil control by returning villain, Lothor. The Dino Thunder Rangers fought against the Ninja Storm rangers but when the Ninja Storm rangers were free from evil control, they joined forces to foil Lothor and Mesogog's plans.
-When Lothor and Mesogog, failed at their attempt to destroy both ranger teams, Mesogog took out his anger on Lothor, permanently sealing the Ninja Storm villain into a bottled prison.

PRSPD- Power Rangers Space Patrol Delta
-This season contained the most rangers in any season in ranger history with a record total of 14.
