My Husband won a Ford Taurus on TPIR about 10 years ago! We sold it right away.
It was a lot of fun, but a VERY long day.
He was the very last contestant called to contestant's row, which meant he had the worst chance of getting up on stage. Everyone overbid the first time around, but then he won a camcorder after the second round of bidding.
The game he played was "One Away" and he guessed all the numbers right the first time.
He ended up getting a 32 inch stereo TV instead of the camcorder. We still have the TV to this day, and it works great!
It sucks, because they make you think that you get to drive home the cars you win when you see the show on TV, but we had to wait about 2 months to get it. We had to pay sales tax and income tax on the thing. Plus the dealership we picked it up from tried to give us a car with a several hundred miles on it. We wouldn't accept it. We said "No way! We won a NEW car." Plus it had scratches all over the bumper. There was more to the story, but I'll leave it at that.
Also, they made a mistake during the yodeling Mountain Climber game and had to reshoot the contestant's reaction to winning the game. It was pretty funny.
The hint to getting picked is to be VERY outgoing and friendly during your little 5 second "interview". We knew my husband would be picked, people were telling us all day that he would be. It was a fun experience.
