It's only one of the greatest cartoons ever. I recently started getting the DVDs and have the first 3 seasons so far. Great stuff. I watched all of Season 1, most of Season 3, and about half of Season 2. I forgot how great this show really was. "Mars University" "Fry and the Slurm Factory" and "Parasites Lost" are some of my personal favorites. This show is also one of the few where I don't find any characters annoying. All of them have their moments, even Scruffy... the janitor! Can't wait for season 4 to come out on DVD.

Lots of subtle humor that some might miss, but another brilliant work of Groening. For anyone who hasn't got the new Simpson's season 4 DVD set, there is now commentary for every episode which is GREAT!!!

Not only did Groening make tens of millions for that 'network', but The Simpsons was their first and longest running hit show. They should give him whatever he wants, fukkers!

The problem is that it was scheduled for 7pm Eastern and would get pre-empted by football every week. Of course that's going to cause terrible ratings and once football ends it doesn't have any audience. The same thing seems to be happening to Malcolm at 7:30 this year. So it's not a crime that they pulled the plug, but it's a shame that it's Fox's own damn fault the ratings weren't good enough. Also like how they treated Family Guy, with a new time slot every month. That's no way to get good ratings.

Its so creative, and there could be billions of ideas for episodes. I own all 4 DVD's and i think volume 2 is the funniest. Other than that the good episodes are scattered. Maybe a @#%$ could bring it back??

I think you can find the whole story over at www.aint-it-cool-news.com -- it's really, really, really sad because this was such a great show and it was killed by egotism and power plays. Groenig negotiated a substantial increase in ownership on Futurama, compared to Simpsons which is basically owned by Fox. Somewhere down the road he got into a pissing contest, I forget if it was a changing of the pissy executive guard or what, but apparently Groenig squared off with Fox execs who pretty much dumped it because it would never be a golden calf for them like Simpsons, and they ended up firing the writers - I think this was in Season 2 - and hording up all the episodes and releasing only a few a year to stretch the show into a couple more seasons. That way they didn't have to pay anymore and they still got to have Futurama in the Fox line-up. I think I'm almost getting it right. The real story is much more tragic. And it broke several months before the writers were fired... poor Al Gore's daughter. So at aint-it-cool we heard the mad whisperings of insane TV exec shenanigins, er shindingagains, er... which didn't seem possible on this god-given love thy neighbor planet and then the axe really fell on such a cosmically awesome show which shocked us all and was just HOLY CRAP A TRAVESTY.

Even though they don't directly criticize Fox, you can tell they thought little of the Fox execs. I stopped watching all Fox shows except for 24 after they cancelled this show.

And the dog was waiting outside his pizza store waiting for him for the whol twelve years until his death, oh wow, im starting to tear now thinking of it! I bualed like a little baby to that one!
