- Stars Andy Richter as a brand-new accountant who gets the mall office of a retired P.I. and winds up accidentally getting his cases, thus becoming a wacky accountant/P.I. Tony Hale (Buster Bluth on Arrested Development) plays his main sidekick, a video store clerk. He's great. Marshall Manesh plays Wally, the owner of a kabob place at the mall. Clea Lewis can be annoying but she isn't that bad here as Andy's wife and gets some good lines ("That Judging Amy we TiVo'd isn't gonna watch itself").
- If you haven't seen Lookwell, watch it! 1. It's awesome. 2. Then you can compare it to Andy Barker, P.I. Conan O'Brien and Robert Smigel co-wrote and produced the pilot in '91 starring Adam West as an actor who once played a cop and thinks this qualifies him to solve crimes.
- Andy Barker, P.I. starts on that old-fashioned T.V. box Thursday, March 15th, at 9:30 EST. It has a 6-episode run. (6 episodes? Gee, that's a lot of time to develop and gain an audience.) All 6 episodes are now at nbc.com. Plus, according to Wikipedia (not always reliable, I know), ep #5 "is planned to be a Web exclusive, as NBC intends to air only five of the episodes on NBC this season." (Apparently they'd rather repeat one of the other episodes during the 6-ep. run.)
NBC's descriptions of the 6 episodes:
Episode 1: Pilot
Fair Oaks, it's Andy Barker.
Episode 2: Dial M For Laptop
Andy gets caught up in a credit fraud case.
Episode 3: Three Days of the Chicken
Andy faces the barrel of a loaded gun.
Episode 4: Fairway, My Lady
Andy agrees to investigate a murder.
Episode 5: The Lady Varnishes
Andy's case takes an unexpected turn.
Episode 6: The Big No Sleep
*ETA - just watched Ep. 5 - Amy Sedaris guest-stars in it. Ed Asner too.*
