I watched the pilkot and i was impressed, of course i might be a little bias because i love football and live in Texas. I think this will definantly be on my
weekly schedule of shows i have to watch.

I'm not particularly fond of football or Texas, but I *AM* fond of Kyle Chandler so I'll give the first episode a shot.

I heard this was really good, but I just couldn't get passed the first couple of minutes - it's just not my cup of tea.

What! I missed another premiere. I've really got to stop watching my GG DVD's and start paying attention to the t.v. guide.

It was a very good book.....they movie didn't do the book any justice and I guessing the t.v. series will be an excuse for NBC to put untalented but hot looking twenty something people in their line-up.

local paper gave it a great review largely because of Kyle Chandler who they said was able to provide some depth to all of the story lines. ..

Is it still set in Odessa, or did they change it for the series?

Re: FNL | ||

I dont think it was called Odessa, i think it is a fictional town. Also for any Texas fans out there Mack Brown is in the first episode.

This is one of my top 3 most anticipated new series of the Fall season, along with Studio 60 and The Nine.

I don't know about the setting, but the pilot was filmed in Pflugerville, TX, right outside of Austin.

Ok, the fictional town is Dillon, TX.

But will people understand the title of the show (movie) and get confused when it airs on Tuesday?

Re: Friday Night Lights on NBC | ||

Possibly, but a Tuesday night timeslot is a lot better than a Friday night timeslot.

The reviews have been spectacular. In fact its metacritic.com ranking is higher than Ugly Betty and Studio 60. (Only Dexter and The Nine seem to be more highly reviewed.) I'm definitely watching it tonight. I thought the film was fantastic.

I never played high school football in Texas, but I did the next best thing: marching band, so I have some interest in seeing this.
