Twelve hours later, and only eight posts - one from someone who didn't even see it.
I guess no one's watching. |

:) I had every intention of watching.
This show needs to be moved to a different timeslot immediately. |

I agree. I had no idea it wasn't doing well in the ratings. I think it's one of the best new shows of the season. Hope the network keeps it around. |

After many years of watching TV dramas, I sense this show has begun a long slow steady decline until cancellation.
It may take a few months or it may take a few years. But all the intrigue and surprise were dished out in the first two episodes and there is now nowhere to go but down. Goodbye. I hope you all will save yourself the long goodbye and tune out sooner than later. |

I haven't watched the 2nd episode yet, but the star qb injury was soooo predictable. Straight out of Varsity Blues and the movie FNL. I kept saying, "the qb is going to get injured and then the 2nd string guy will come in, flub up some and then save the game."
Oh, and sofaking, I'm a chick who loves football. |

LOL it's like NBC they can win the football game in a blowout or easily and it doesn't always have to be the most dramatic circumstances ever.
That episode 2 stuff you were talking about made me laugh I missed it last night. |

Quote: where did those numbers come from, pf? zap2it says it was 7.1/11 (although 3rd for the time slot). i never know what to believe. and they should move this show, but knowing nbc they'll put it up against american idol when that starts up. Quote: marry me? edit: never mind, pf. i misread zap2it. the number i quoted was for the evening, not the time slot... |

7.1/11 was NBC's overall rating for the night.
4.1/6 was FNL's rating. FNL is bringing the class average down. I think it may need to go to summer school. |

I loved it. Both episodes. I think what throws the regular viewer off is Peter Berg's take. I like the slow reaction shots, the choppy camera.
I also think the story is good. That girl that plays Lila is great. I also loved Smash's mom last night. She was great. I hope they give this show enough time. It's up against Dancing with the Stars (I think...) once that's over - it will be good - they just need to let it go. People will find it later. |

since i am the only person in america watching this fine show, i'll have a conversation with myself...
sofa: damn, lyla is so cool. and she gets NO support from anyone. not her parents, not her friends, not even the fucked football guy she is so caring for. damn. sofa: no shit. a chick like lyla is the kind of chick every guy dreams of. loving, supportive, pretty... but then, she did say "fuck it" and sleep with that drunk piece-of-shit-supposedly-friend of the guy she wants to marry. sofa: oh, that's right, she did. so i guess she is just like every other chick. sofa: yeah. why is it girls do like that? they can't see red flags? or do they just love that edgy, dangerious shit more than love and relationship. sofa: i never figured that one out, dude. sofa: holla. i feel you, man... anyway, fnl is a great show. i'm sorry y'all are missing this... |

Hee hee.
I'll break my silence: I've been watching, despite my earlier concerns. This show doesn't suck as badly as I initially thought. I've not seen the last 15 minutes of the ep -- VM was on deck -- but I have a question for those of you that have lived in Texas. Would complete strangers REALLY threaten the high school coach in public because he dropped the game after he lost his cornerstone quarterback? Especially when a fumble on guaranteed touchdown cost them 6 and the game went down to the final second? If so, I now have more evidence to prove that Dallas Cowboys really are fucked in the head. |

I enjoyed the episode tonight. I'm interested in seeing how the new QB from New Orleans is portrayed. Hopefully he's a "likeable" character not another T.O. wannabe like Smash.
Lila is awesome. I noticed drunk guys older brother check her out when she dropped by. Actually her unannounced drop in visit loses her perfect chick points. Ladies...always call ahead. |

no shit. i grew up in michigan. that dude that "displayed" the ring and messed with the coach's daughter... i knew many of them "there was a time in my life" mutherfuckers along the way... i have not kept in touch with anyone from high school. but apparently they do.
i can't imagine texas. those fuckers are serious about this football shit... |

Quote: Was he a complete stranger? He looked like an alum who played football and was still holding on to his glory years and like everyone else in the town, had something to say about football as if he was an honorary member of the coaching staff. Very realistic in a small town (especially one where football games are grounds for closing early). |

After being disapointed with the pilot, I'm really starting to like this show now.
Which sucks since it looks like it'll wind up being cancelled. |

Quote: no shit. i felt sorry for voodoo. displaced, and him walking across that football field like he had to. no one knows him. apparently no one likes him either. he had a choice to make. bling vs. an opportunity to learn some shit. voodoo chose well. i hope y'all cut him some slack, even given that we know the other quarterback's life with his grandmoms and all. we know second string got some shit. voodoo got some shit too. this is why i love this show... |

I live in Texas and I'm not sure you would exactly see that scene, but you would see something close to it.
The town I used to live in lost a game recently to their hated rivals. The next week there was talk that the current coach was going to be relieved of his duties, and the former coach (who had a good coaching record but had major problems with off the field stuff) was going to be brought in. Didn't happen, but rumors were rampant everywhere. I think the feeling amongst a lot of people was that the book made people in Odessa realize how out of line their behavior concerning the football team really was, and they have significantly toned it down since. I don't think they have had nearly as successful seasons as they used to back in the day. But I'm not from there, so maybe someone else has a different viewpoint. |
