More FNL:
from CNN: LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- "Friday Night Lights" just may score another season.
Because of the writers strike, seven of the 22 episodes NBC ordered of "Friday Night Lights" weren't produced. Executive producer Jason Katims said he's "incredibly optimistic" about a third season for the drama, which has been in limbo since the writers strike ended. "There's no deal yet for the show," Katims said Wednesday at the William S. Paley Television Festival. "But we are being incredibly optimistic that's going to happen and happen soon." Although a critical hit, ratings were low for the show, which depicts small-town Texas life where high school football is king. When viewers last saw the Dillon Panthers, the team was gearing up for the playoffs. Because of the writers strike, which halted most TV production, seven of the 22 episodes NBC ordered for season two weren't produced. Fans have fought to keep the show on the air, launching www.SaveFridayNightLights.tv and asking viewers to send donations to fill NBC entertainment chief Ben Silverman's mailbox with miniature plastic footballs. "I think the answer is going to be pretty soon," Katims said. "I have a feeling we're two or three weeks away from knowing." Katims said a third season would likely pick up after the planned events of season two. However, the series would integrate unused story lines into the new season, which he said could begin filming as soon as July. |

I really hope it comes back. Not only is it a fantastic show, but I'm moving to Austin in the fall for grad school and maybe I'll be lucky enough to
see some of the cast out and about. My brother has seen many of them at the Apple store he works at.

Just found this wee diddy from Broadcasting and Cable.
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6545523.html?industryid=47171 Can I get a big YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAW! Texas Forever! WOOT! Kyle Chandler: Friday Night Lights Will Return for Season ThreeStar of NBC's Friday Night Lights Tells B&C's David Bianculli Season Three Is a GoBy Joel Topcik -- Broadcasting & Cable, 3/27/2008 1:47:00 PMKyle Chandler, star of NBC's Friday Night Lights, confirmed that the perennially on-the-bubble drama will return for a third season. In an interview taped Wednesday with B&C contributor David
Bianculli for National Public Radio's Fresh Air, Chandler said a deal was struck that will spread costs and allow the series to
continue.
According to a post on Bianculli's blog, TV Worth Watching, Chandler, who plays high-school football coach Eric Taylor, said all that was left to sew up the deal was to "dot the i's and cross the t's." He added that he was scheduled to report for shooting in Austin, Texas, where the show is set, in June. Although reports of the series' return have circulated for several weeks, with speculation of a deal involving satellite TV operator DirecTV, NBC has not commented on the show's fate. |

don't worry.
us directv peeps will use spoiler tags when we start watching the third season this fall... |

Hmm...looks like it will only be a 13 episode season as opposed to the usual 22.
Still a lot better than nothing, though. I guess the non-direcTV people can watch the episodes on torrents. |

yeah, the only problem with the nbc/directv deal is that it means there will be no fourth season. the rabid fans will catch the show in the fall one way or
another.
the ratings for the nbc broadcasts will probably be very, very low... |

Well, we've got until October to decide what we're going to do.
I know that the people with DirecTV and internet-savvy (ie. will download the episodes from the various sites and not wait until it airs on NBC) won't want to have to use spoiler tags for like 4 months until they air on NBC. I know that the people who, for whatever reason, will wait until Spring to watch FNL don't want to read this thread with all the "spoiled" people discussing the episodes before they air on NBC. So, do we make a new thread? Do the "spoiled" people just use spoiler tags? Or will the non-"spoiled" just have to deal with it? |
