The reporter notes that this is a safe bet "because FNL producers are reportedly close to a two-year extension with NBC and DirectTV." Sounds promising. On to last nights episode: That was so Mike Leach of Coach to go for it on 4th and 7. I'm glad that Matt is turning into the hot receiver. Is Tyra finally waking up and realizing that Landry is her ticket out of Dillon? Cowboy is such a douche. Yeah for Coach being the man and protecting Tyra from Cowboy without provoking him further. Lila and Tyra's sister was a hoot. Tyra's sister sees the red flags, but she took Tim's brother back. Those two are made for each other. Tim and SA State? I'm taking that it's something like a fictional Texas State. Wasn't he being courted by Oklahoma? Why settle for SAState?

I love FNLs and I am glad to hear Kyle and wifey are getting a house in Austin. Maybe the 2yr deal is for reals! I already watched all of this season and I am excited for all of the possibilities since the season finale.

I had no idea that Landry was supposed to be that smart - I really never saw all the previous seasons. I want to. I want to know how you can ace a class with such poor speaking skills - don't they make kids to speaches in school?? Aren't they graded? I love the Tyra character - it's just so damned real. Like it or not - way too many girls put themselves into that position for some idiot boy. She should know better but falls for it anyway. I also loved that principal Taylor does the right thing and comes to get her. Who gets into Vanderbelt from no-where's-ville Texas?? Seems like she's aiming a bit high. (Nothing wrong with trying - but expecting it's a done deal??) I'm also enjoying them making Matt the hero. If a player has consistently shown to be such a dependable player - small or not - wouldn't some school give him a full ride?

The "Friday Night Lights" star has been tapped as the lead of the CW's drama pilot "Body Politic." She is joined by an alum from another critically praised but low-rated series, "Veronica Mars' " Jason Dohring, who also been cast in the pilot. "Body Politic," from CBS Par, is a look at Washington politics through the eyes of optimistic up-and-coming staffers. Kelly will play Hope, an all-American girl who leaves her life in Michigan after the death of her mother and heads to D.C., where her long-lost dad, Sen. Webster (Tim Matheson), has just been appointed Attorney General, and takes a job on his staff. Dohring will play a reporter with the Washington Post. For the "FNL" fans whose hearts started racing, Kelly's new gig is not an sign that "FNL" is not coming back. Negotiations between NBC and DirecTV are still going on, and insiders are optimistic that the show will return for a fourth season. But given the fact that Kelly's character on the show, Lyla, graduated from high school this season and is off to college, she is not going to be a regular next season but will return for a multiepisode arc if "FNL" clinches a fourth-season pickup. The series' producers used a similar tactic for Gaius Charles and Scott Porter, regulars on the first two seasons, who were brought back for four episodes each this season to wrap up their characters' stories post-high school.

Totally bummed!!! I could have watched live - but assumed it was on TiVo. Urgh!!! I think this is the best made show I'm watching right now.

I saw Landry the other night at the Observe & Report premiere at South by Southwest. I went to the after-party hoping to asking him some FNL questions but they kept the "stars" away from us common folk.

My favorite scene of the night was Coach cleaning the grill while calmly discussing things with Matt. I'm glad that the band knocked some sense into Landry re: Tyra. JD's mom also seems to be having an ephiphany: hubby = controlling prick. Poor Buddy. This season has just been brutal to him. Re: Lila/Vanderbilt: Being from Nowheresville, TX, I can tell you that Nowheresville kids many times get recruited for the Rice/Vandy type of schools for diversity's sake, but it's usually the Landry good grades types of students. Lila's never struck me as being that smart--a hard worker, maybe, but not Landry smart.

I can't believe that his grandma expects him to not go to college and stay home with her until she dies. She doesn't strike me as being that selfish. She always seemed to be all about Matt succeeding in life, so what? Did she think he would be in high school for the rest of his life?

I just assumed that was the season finale. Looks like they only aired part of the season or my DVR was not picking it up ? Thanks to all of you I was able to catch up and will be recording the other episodes

Coach catching Matt and Julie was classic. Loved Landry walking out on Tyra. But really could the football refs get away with the out and out cheating of not throwing the flags? Loved that Riggins got the winning touchdown. Good going, my hottie.

From the new TV Guide, looks like we only have 3 episodes left this season, including tonight's. I am going to miss Tim Riggins!

I am very impressed with Janine Turner - few actresses would be willing to look so crappy in a close-up, but when she was talking to Mrs. Coach ('he hit my baby' - so sad!) she really looked like she'd spent a good twenty minutes crying her eyes out, witht the mascara all over the place, the swelling around the eyes, the bright red nose... props to her. We saw true anguish in here eyes. She's a great addition to the cast. And her hubbie... what an absolute creep. And I have to say, the new QB is a very good addition to the show. He's a decent young actor, and plays gawky kid with first crush quite nicely, and good of FNL to have this new kid an extremely sympathetic, good character. A lesser show would have had him an obvious and obnoxious jerk. I sure hope the rumors of a 2-year pickup are good, but I can see the initial story arc of this series coming to an end shortly. The producers seem to be doing a neat trick: Giving the viewers a decent "end" at the end of this season but also giving us the sense that Dillon is still there, somewhere, so if the series is picked up it will be like FNL 2.0. (the stuff about redistricting - so true. That sort of thing kills high school programs in sports, music, etc. faster than anything else.)

I was prepared to hate him for taking Saracen's spot but they're written the character really well. I've enjoyed his storyline a lot, and believe me it is not a stretch at all for a father to react like that. That was such a great sequence. I noted the same thing about Janine Turner. She was another one I was prepared to dislike but she's a great character. It's only the asshole dad who I have no sympathy for. Redistricting is a huge issue in Texas. The town I lived in has needed a second high school for many years but refuses to do it in part because of what it will do to the football team (which isn't even that good anyway). Instead they added a 9th grade campus to keep the population manageable. A lot of other districts have added the second school and honestly, it only affects football for about 2 seasons. By then, they're pretty much up to par with everyone else.

Some bridal tea, with all that drinking! JD's dad is such an asshole. IA with the above assessments of JD and Janine as his mother. So sad about Matt's grandma. As someone who went through Alzheimer's with my mom, I know she has to get worse and worse at some point, or it wouldn't be realistic. Tim is being very supportive of Lyla. What a sweetie he is!

I went to Rice and I remember going through the newcomer's guide (which basically is a booklet featuring photos, high schools and hometowns of all the new students - freshmen and transfers) and there were plenty students from small towns all over the nation. And the "hard workers" are often the ones who excel at college, especially over smart, but lazy people. A Lyla-type getting into Vanderbilt is almost cliché, especially since Dillon appears to be a 5A high school that probably has many extracurricular programs besides high school football. I also grew up in Texas and we had redistricting drama all throughout my school years, except the lines were usually drawn to get the best mix students, and not necessarily the atheletes. In fact, it's widely rumored that one of the high schools in our district (which opened in the mid 90's, after four other high schools were built) was strategically located to be a "diverse" group and to rival one high school in academics, one in athletics and another in strong extracurricular programs. Love this show, and glad to hear that it's geting 2 more seasons.
