Over the weekend, casting officially got underway for three new series regulars and one recurring guest star to fill the void being left by exiting MVPs Adrianne Palicki, Zach Gilford, and Minka Kelly. Condensed character descriptions are below. Vince: A charming yet dangerous East Dillon junior. He's African-American and, when we first meet him, he's running from the cops. Look for Coach Taylor to put his speed to better use as a member of the Lions. Series regular. Luke: Vince's classmate and arch nemesis. He's Caucasian, cocky, and charming. Reminds some of a young Paul Newman. Dillon's new geographical breakdown has him playing for the Lions, and he's not happy about it. Series regular. Wait, there's two more after the jump! Jess: The super-energetic daughter of a onetime NFL hopeful, she knows the game inside and out. When she's not busy coaching her younger brothers, this sophomore/junior is getting crushed on by every guy in Dillon, East and West. Series regular. Becky: A freshman beauty queen whose family is purebred trailer trash. Think Blair Waldorf with lousy genes. She finds Riggins in bed with her mother and reacts by trying to seduce him herself. My new favorite character is listed as recurring. Fuckin' a - that sounds good. Anyone know who the actors are? So, Rigs is back to fucking everything that moves? Man, that kid gets a lot of ass.... Boy, I'm going to miss Minka Kelly. Badly.

Recaps where we left things last year and has a few interviews with Landry, Julie and Mrs. C. God, can't wait for this show to start back up again - just a couple more days - woot! Last season, we just let things rip -- those of us with DirecTV yapped first and a few months later the NBC people repeated the process. Nobody seemed to bitch, realizing the reality of the situation, but if anyone has a better suggestion, now's the time to pipe up. It was too bad that way -- this thread which used to be thriving got reducted to a footnote.

I may go the bittorrent route this year though. I don't want to have to wait until the summer. The way things are going with NBC, I'm not even convinced they'll be around by the summer. lol

Posts: 302 (10/26/09 11:48 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I don't have direct tv, but I can't see how discussing a tv show that was aired anywhere in the US - network, cable, direct etc. could be considered wrong. Yeah, it might be nice to use the spoiler tags, but they really aren't spoilers except for the people who didn't see it on direct tv. it's not like spoilers for survivor or something where people want to tell you stuff that hasn't appeared on the show yet. I knew last year when I came to this thread during the show's cable/direct run that I'd read stuff that I wouldn't see on NBC til the spring. It was my choice to come here or not, because I can't see any reason why the lucky ones who will see it this week should refrain from talking about it. I envy you guys, and will probably stop by to read your thoughts. Heck, I did that last year, and the show was so strong that any hints/plot stuff I picked up here didn't hurt my enjoyment at all.

But not in a bad way. Hell, I was one of the "great unwashed" myself once. I didn't have DIRECTV for many years in my life. Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	On older DirecTV receivers, the promo is still showing up randomly on the menu, rotating with 3 or 4 other messages. On newer receivers, the promo isn't showing up any more. It was in tv mail last week. In the promo, the actor who plays Landy alluded to a change in the relationship between he and Julie after everyone else leaves town and it shows them swimming together near a pier. He also says that this is the first year the show has a true villain - QB1's dad. Not much news, but it was great to see he and Mrs. Coach again. This season has fabulous storyline potential. I just hope they hold with the subtle writing and storylines from years 1 and 3 and don't go for the big, slam you over the head with silly story like they did with Landry and Tyra during the interim year. While FNL is certainly worthy of the finest cigar and cognac, I am more of a cheetohs person myself. But I won't be able to tear my eyes away from the screen to wipe off all that orange powder, so I will probably pass. It is treat enough to be able to sit there and watch such a fine show with a grin on my face.

Judging by tonight's fast-moving, story-packed fourth-season premiere, fans can anticipate another strong season. Some notes: * 4.1, titled "East of Dillon," begins in late August. Its first shot is of a windmill in motion. * 4.1 begins as the pilot did, with a local radio broadcaster bringing us up to speed. Eric Taylor is now coaching the brand-new East Dillon Lions. Spoiler [+] * New grad Matt Saracen, still in town to continue looking after his dotty grandma (and continue dating young Julie Taylor), is now a deliveryman for something called Panther Pizza. His grandma still thinks he plays for the Panthers, and Matt gets to demonstrate some of his tackling skills this week. * Landry Clarke gets a letter informing him he'll be attending East Dillon for the 2009-2010 school year. He'll be the only familiar face on the East Dillon Lions. * Buddy Garrity is still a West Dillon booster, but seems marginalized and unhappy. * The East Dillion Lions HQ is a dump, covered inside and out with graffiti. * We meet a future East Dillon player as he makes an unsuccessful bid to elude the police. * As Coach Taylor weighs in his recruits, he discovers they all want to be QB1. * After the title credits (and I can't say what the title credits look like this season; the screener uses last season's, with former regulars Adrianne Palicki and Minka Kelly still in the mix), we advance three weeks into September. * We learn Dillon High principal Tami Taylor had a hand in redistricting the two Dillon high schools, and she is besieged by parents livid that their kids have been redistricted into the more ethnically diverse East Dillon High. This strife is exemplified by Julie's friend Devon, who finds herself caught between parents and school administrators. * The first time we see Tim Riggins, he's slipping out of class as a college instructor is lecturing on "The Odyssey" and the hero's journey. He's next seen on his own hero's journey, chucking his books and school supplies out the window of his fast-fleeing pick-up as he makes his way back to Dillon. I think Riggins' story may be my favorite this first week back. * Fans can also look forward tonight to Eric Taylor's staffing dilemmas, a decision from Julie that greatly concerns her parents, Matt's visit to the Dillon Tech art department, a hot mother-daughter team, a new look for Riggins' newlywed sister-in-law, the return of Panthers quarterback J.D. McCoy, and perhaps the lowest point in Eric Taylor's career. 9 p.m. Wednesday. DirecTV 101.
