I just downloaded & watched the first half hour and all in all I think it was an okay episode. I agree that ryan's return deserved its own episode (and
that it didn't make sense he would get hired back even as a temp.) since i'd missed part of the show last night I didn't get why Pam was standing
in the rain outside the convenience store, rather than IN the store when she was meeting with Jim... but of course, they had to do the cliched proposal.
i don't know why but I'm just not a big fan of the jim and pam relationship - i just don't care what happens with them. Andy and Angela-la-la-hey hey are more entertaining. "I've made nonrefundable deposits at four completely different venues!" My other favorite quotes were "Math is hard!" and Kelly talking about how she bought a size 2 bikini... "yaaay." Poor Meredith pretty much had nothing to do all episode yet again. I imagine the actress who plays her must be frustrated at how little they give her. |

I noticed Meredith's face too, but no explaination? Odd.
I also loved Ryan's list of people he will crush when he's back on top, and Kevin being first for fire-ed guy. The joke about Ryan burning down the office with a cheesy pita will never get old for me.

Proposing over dinner or during a sports game or pretty much anything would fit that bill. I don't know of too many people that have been proposed to in the rain at a gas station. That's just my view though. I guess I understand the rain aspect, but the only way the scene would have played without it being a cliche would have been to not show us it at all. Overall, I thought the episode was an awesome way to start the season. The set up was odd, but the series of vignettes was a nice change of pace. The whole cast was on fire. My favorite part was Phyllis returning after Dwight dumped her in an abandoned warehouse five miles away. It was hysterical watching her bust through the door. Holly realizing Kevin was not retarded was a good scene as well. |

people need to stop over-analyzing this show. I lol'd after Michael ripped up the tickets he bought from Holly ..."can i pay you tomorrow".. and Ryan being the new receptionist is really fucking stupid. |

Yeah, after thinking back, I'm enjoying it more and more. Some great stuff all around.
And Andy always has some brilliant lines. Like the one about getting married in a hurricane on a monsoon or whatever. Though my favorite will always be the one at the end of Chair Model: "I did this for the little guy. For Joe six-pack. The guy who wakes up every morning in his $400 dollar a month apartment; wonders how hes going to pay his mortgage; wonders how he's going to fill his car up with oil; wonders how am I going to pay my kids orphanage bills. That guy shouldn't have to wonder where he's going to park." |

I loved this episode also!
I loved it when Kelly biffed when they were getting weighed. I loved every scene with Holly. I loved the little Creed that we got. I am worried though about a few things: 1.) No Meredith....at all....really? 2.) The fat lard that is hanging around with Pam. Hopefully no obvious redux here... 3.) The awkward return of Ryan as receptionist. I have faith in the writing team, because they do an amazing job and know a lot more that I do about where characters should go. |

That's just my personal pet peeve. It's like in movies/TV they go out of their way to put people in the rain when it doesn't make sense for them to standing be there getting drenched. If anyone watches the Sarah Silverman Program, she did a pretty funny take on that in the episode where she becomes a lesbian. She's walking home with Tig, then they go inside and break up. Tig walks out and Sarah chases after her, and suddenly it's pouring. Anyway at the end of the day Andy's proposal > Jim's proposal. ETA Various supporting memebers of the cast (Oscar, Melora, Creed) were on the Adam Carolla show last week. Interesting fact about Creed, which I don't know if it was brought up here, is that he was in the band the Grass Roots, who had some hits in the 60's. Most people would know their hit Let's Live For Today. Full of surprises, just like his character.
