I didn't like the new ones, but the one episode I really like is I think called "Fights and Stuff". After Dan has his heart attack and comes home from the hospital and is supposed to be eating right and exercising and lies to Roseanne about it, she finds out through Jackie. They have a huge fight, Roseanne breaks the TV, they totally destroy the house.

Yes she knew how to milk blood from a comedy turnip, but without her, John and the writing, the show would have truly tanked.

She objects to two men raising a child, not just because they're gay, but because they're MEN - and she hates men, period. She concludes her rant by saying "the only way I could have sex with my husband was if I went to the store and bought myself a PLAYBOY first". Also, in that episode, the guy who played Ernest in those movies plays Jackie's latest suitor, a prince who, when drunk, slips into a Texan accent.

"he finally has a friend that's not imaginary" "either he's really really good at it......or really really bad" -the superbowl episode after bev gets a dui and stops drinking. darlene-"you didn't tell me i'd be baking with drunken hines" --the episode when dan gets arrested for beating up fisher and the school principal is in the next car looking over.

No one got "dysfunctional family that still loves eachother" quite like Roseanne. Those first few seasons were so realistic! Then it all went to pot Darlene became a pain in the ass who hated Becky who was now a dimwitted loser Roseanne was just plain mean, Jackie became over the top and Dan was just a drip, David a loser, Mark dumb and mean. I know Roseanne wanted the lottery season to reflect her life in that she became wealthy but...it just was ridiculous. Bev coming out, Dan cheating-but-not-cheating, Jackie and the Prince. It's like a completely different show. If they were THAT hard up for storyline ideas, make Roseanne a single mom the entire season and have her deal with that. Although Jackie being addicted to internet will never not be funny....."You're in an Urkel chatroom!"

I had so much fun this past year watching them during Halloween. Roseanne did Halloween like no other. Sucks that they are showing non-stop George Lopez on Nick At Nite now. Hopefully it's temporary, I miss watching Roseanne. Since I am a night owl Im always up looking out for this show either oN TV Land or Nick. I am on what seems like a 100th Roseanne kick in my life. I watched it in first run, then many times in reruns. I stop watching for a while but then I get on one of these kicks and fall in love with the show all over again. This show never gets old, well, besides that last season.

Posts: 716 (11/30/09 11:49 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	iirc, it was actually supposed to end after season 8...ratings were down, John Goodman didn't want to continue and their was kind of a stagnancy storyline wise. For whatever reason, things started to pick-up midway in the season (Disneyworld I guess) and ABC thought twice about ending it..hence the big Dan has a heart attack and almost dies storyline...it kind of served as a "could be" series finale. It's also why Original Becky came back but ended up disappearing again. ABC picked it up, John Goodman didn't sign on for all the eps hence the Cali storyline. Roseanne also had bought the rights for an American version of "Absolutely Fabulous" around that time, hence the AbFab girls making a cameo and her and Jackie kind of turning into them. I loved those final few episodes of season 8...Dan's heart attack and Roseanne's reactions were really, really well done. And that final fight where they ended up wrecking the house. Plus, I loved the shout-out to the pilot: "I'm gonna make dinner...look at me I'm making dinner!" A question, since I really didn't watch that much Roseanne until recently. What was with the replaced Beckys? Why did it happen? Also, I am bummed that that blooper reel was taken down by You Tube. I wanted to watch it. Boo.
