Well, anyway. the new season of Monk started last night.
Sharonna has sold her house, remarried her ex and moved back east.(Contract dispute  )The new girl picked up without missing a beat. I like her better in fact. She was on that 2 men and a Pizza Parlour(whatever) Monk is interviewing new nurses. One grumpy lady asks the hours. Monk replies 9AM. Till? asks the nurse. Monk: till one of us dies. |

The Sharona marriage was a bit contrived. I could see her moving elsewhere, but not to re-marry the ex she didnt like.
New girl (whatever her name is) seems ok. She just jumped right in and pretty much accepted Monks problems. Her daughter seems more likeable than Sharona's kid. |

I really like the new assistant. I just wonder whether
they're going to mess it up with romance somewhere down the line. I too had a problem with Sharona remarrying the ex. we saw that she REALLY considered him to be a jerk... but now she is back with him? not. I really enjoyed the ep, love the girl, like the mom. Monk picking up that fish really made me smile. I said, "wow, what a man!! Now the lady will HAVE to love him and be his assistant."

Yes, the sharonna storyline excuse was pretty dumb after establishing how much she didn't like her ex. They could have pretended she married off to someone else. Anyone would have been a better excuse than her ex. I guess that shows how much disrespect they had for her.
I'm not so sure about the new "sharonna". She's ok. I like her kid. Sharonna's boy seemed to be played by a different actor each week. I hope this girl keeps the job. The writing still seems a bit off, as it did in the beginning of the "third season". (This bunch of episodes is being called the second half of the third season.) The whole museum bit was badly done. First off the whole walk through the womb stuff came accross as bathroom humor once removed. Then the guide part was written in an incredibly annoying way. Who gives a tour of a moon rock and a woman's womb on the same tour?!?! As someone who's worked in museums, that was just dumb. The last 10 minutes did pick up - especially when monk picked the fish over the rock, that was cute. It ended nicely. Still, the story was very predictable. I called the moon rock the second they showed it. My roommate called the fire extinguisher would be used at the science fair as soon as that started. No twists or turns. I hope the writing improves, because Monk is still a great character, but with no where to go, it might not be worth tuning in... |

The funniest part was when Monk was leaving the science room after blundering through yet another attempt at lying, and says, " I got lucky with the Tic Tac story."

I'm hoping they used the 'married her ex' storyline so she can come back. It wouldn't be too tough to have her come back saying it didn't work out.
The new assistant is no Sharona. The chemistry between Monk and Sharona was part of what made the show so good. That and the relationships with the policemen. Sharona was trashy, loud, and earthy compared to the quite, reserved, and odd Monk. If the shows loses that mixture of personalities, it won't work. Monk won't seem so different. He has to have a person like Sharona to bounce his personality off of. The Pizza girl isn't going to work out. Either they'll cancel the show or she'll be replaced soon. |

How annoying was the assistant? But, in a way, I liked how she was giving it to Monk.
Didn't buy for a second that Monk would be buried alive and not panic. They show him as stupid sometimes and supposedly he's brilliant. Noticed this last year that the show is just about he's OCD. Tired of the Trudy. |

I caught the midnight re-airing of this episode last night and thought it was terrible. Maybe because i was tired, but Natalie sucks and is just annoying. (I did really like her in 2 girls and a guy and a pizza shop though.)The fact that the guy was caught because he still had the admission stamp on his hand THREE DAYS LATER was just lame. I'm praying this show hasn't jumped the shark with Sharona being written out, but it kinda looks that way though.

Add me to the list of people who miss Sharona. I loved her character. Thought she deserved an Emmy. Hate the new girl so far. Too soft on Monk. Too accepting of him. Not as sharp or dynamic as Sharona. Sharona resembled a real person. The actress who played her was so convincing and she generated some fire on the tube. Please come back Sharona! |

it seems to me that they wanted to add Romance to the show... and Sharona was too much a pal.
with the first two eps, it already seems like this gal will end up kissing Monk or something. |

They have her knowing much too much about Monk. The scene in the store where he won't help with the water or open the door, she just let him get away with it. He needs a swift kick. And, who didn't know right away that the Lt's new girlfriend was going to be with the killer. I figured it out before they even showed her. Is this the last season? |

She's got NO personality whatsoever. They should have paired him with a guy this time or something. The whole thing is so forced. I think i just want sharona back. She was at the SAG awards though. She was in some sucessful movie. |
