My little daughter enjoyed watching this, I was waiting for Crazy Dave or Michael Sendecki or Leroy Wells to show up and give the show some pizazz.
Hell, even the Scott Fat Fuck Savol showing up would have made it more interesting. |

When that old woman or was it a man? was on close to the beginning of the show, my hubby said, is she for real? I just laughed. I'm kinda interested because Grease has always been one of my favorite movies, but I've never seen the play version of it.

I don't know if I like this or not. I think not. I liked the 42 yr old man best. I want him to do the show with the 17 yr old girl. "You are not Sandy. I knew Sandy, and you are not Sandy." Those two fat horrible looking women, omg, how delusional. Broadway show tickets are very expensive, and they would never sell one ticket, people would pay not to go see them.
Andrew Lloyd Weber did that show to search for Maria in the UK because he produced the new "Sound of Music" there, and she's a big hit, and the show is a big hit. It said she was a telemarketer before, but had always wanted to be in theater, and had some training. I'll look for it on youtube, thanks, wanted to see the show. and can't they get rid of Billy Bush. What's he still doing on tv, he's like watching a lizard that talks. |

It was cool to see my cousin Jacqueline (the 19-year-old who sang "You Can't Hurry Love") featured so prominently on the show. I knew her audition would be featured, but I was surprised she was one of the "go-to's" that they kept coming back to for commentary. Go, Jackie!

One last word on the first episode. I will not watch again till the live carnage begins. When they showed the lady producer judge getting her Tony on Broadway, the only thing I could think of was the Seinfeld episode when Kramer was hired as a seat filler and got swept up on stage when all the other people from the play were announced as winners!

The judges were terrible! That women (producer-judge) just sat there and stared with the same expression for each contestant. They need a better judge. Guest judges perhaps??

There is no requirement to open any roles up to the public. Casting the leads in this way gets them a TV show and publicity for the Broadway show. Casting the rest of the show with ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS gives them half a chance of being able to actually get the show up and running. As for the judges, they are perhaps a bit "boring" because they weren't cast to be interesting. They are actually involved and invested in the show that will result from this competition. Chances are, their input will be FAR more useful than anything Paula Abdul or Randy Jackson have ever said (at the very least). On the other hand, they really pounded us over the head about all the RISK these people are taking in leaving the casting up to America. Point it out once, but don't flog us with it! It gets boring and annoying!!! |

I could cope with this show a bit more if it weren't SUCH a blatant AI ripoff. The blue background, the fake Seacrest (or is it a fake even crappier guy from Season 1?), the British judge with the putdowns, the "up close and personal" shots, the audition lines,...
Yes, we get it. You want a show just like AI. But this is ridiculous - like something you'd see on SNL. |

If this was casting for the main roles in The Color Purple, I would be rolling my eyes at any white people trying out. It's ridiculous. |

Okay, but aren't they trying to stress that they want to REVIVE the show and give it a new spin? With all that talk of Olivia Newton John saying how it would be great for an african american to play sandy, you know we'll be guaranteed a few...which is fine...if they want to revive the show, why not do something a little out of the ordinary

'Grease' is the word when it comes to Broadway tickets
BY JOE DZIEMIANOWICZ DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER Thanks to reality TV, tickets to one upcoming Broadway revival are moving faster than greased lightning. In just two days, "Grease" sold a whopping $1.3 million worth of seats. The leads for the musical - which starts previews in July - are being cast on the NBC series "Grease: You're the One That I Want." The nationally televised casting search debuted Sunday and drew 11.6 million viewers. Tickets for the show about 1950s high schoolers went on sale the same day. Kathleen Marshall, the stage production's director and choreographer and a judge on the TV series, attributes the sales to the power of TV. "It is unbelievable, just crazy," she said. "Of course, you have the exposure on national television and the phenomenon of 'Grease.'" The early sales aren't breaking Broadway records; for comparison's sake, "Three Days of Rain," starring Julia Roberts, took in $4 million in the first three days of sales. But "Grease" has no big names - and hasn't even announced a theater yet. The musical's producers have acknowledged that promoting the show on reality TV was a gamble, but now they're more confident the risky venture will pay off. "If you're a professional actor and you're trying to create a career for yourself, going on national television is amazing exposure," Marshall said. |

They should be white just as I don't want to see Sandy as a brunette or Danny as a blonde. If the actors have the wrong hair colors, they will put wigs on them. They shouldn't have the wrong skin color for the part. |
