Washington Keeps Dishing Out Blame

(July 3) -- Continuing his campaign to plead his case and gain support following his ousting from "Grey's Anatomy," Isaiah Washington is now blaming co-star Patrick Dempsey for his use of anti-gay slurs that led to Washington's demise on the show.

Washington tells Larry King that Dempsey's chronic tardiness led to the dust-up between the two actors, which culminated in Washington using an anti-gay slur towards T.R. Knight. Washington says he confronted Dempsey after his second tardy arrival, but Dempsey asked to delay shooting even longer in order to wait for fellow actor Ellen Pompeo, PEOPLE is reporting.
"I said several bad words," he recalls, telling Dempsey: "There's no way you're going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word."

Washington claims the "F-word" was meant as a sign of being weak, not as an anti-gay slur, and strongly denies it was directed at T.R. Knight -- a claim that Knight, who came out as openly gay following the incident, didn't believe.

"I am not homophobic – in no way, shape or form," Washington says.
