something seems 'different' this season-are there double the amount of commercials or is it something else? ....or the constant 'coming ups'-that basically ruin the next segment. |

I didn't notice any more commercials than usual; however, maybe the season (of the TV show, not the crab fishing itself) is longer this year? If that's the case, they would have to stretch it out a bit more. I noticed that it's coming up on Episode 3 and some boats haven't even pulled up their pots yet.

Less is apparently more this year. I agree that this season probably had about three show's worth of real drama. They're showing a LOT of stuff that should have been left on the cutting room floor.
So what do they put in? Human interest "drama" that no one cares about. The young Captain? He hardly had to scratch and claw his way to the top- his Daddy owns the damn boat. And I'm getting awfully sick of the continuous footage of that other guys moronic sons working on his boat. They can use that 120 pounder for bait, as far as I'm concerned. Whoopie-doo, he gets a full share this year! Well, who did Daddy's son bump off the boat to make room for him anyway? This show needs a killer storm, or a rogue whale or something to pick it up, not fat Russian wives. |

I don't think Blake is related to Rick Quashnik, who perviously captained the boat. But I do believe he worked for Rick for a long time.

And yes, he's worked for Rick for many years, while also captaining other boats for other fishing seasons (for cod, or some shit like that...) Yeah, that poor kid having to ride with his dead buddies. That was brutal. Seriously. I think they might be expanding the King crab part of this TV season. In the past King crab has only been like 4 episodes and then they move on to opies. Maybe that is why it seems like they are going so slow? |

I'm still a watching.
Blake is a douche and came in 5000lbs short on his quota. And the best part is they thought they had the right lbs on board and dumped like 5000lbs back in the ocean. LOL They rest all made it through. Opie season starts next week. |
