This is probably the riskiest move ABC has EVER done! I'm excited, yet at the same time kinda sad... I just have a feeling either this new show will fail miserably or Grey's will go down the shit hole.
Plus, what will they call it? Shepherd's Anatomy? |

Deparate Housewives jumped the shark in it's second season and it's still a top ten show. Grey's has nothign to worry about. Maybe it won't be as pop culture relevant as before but the show will continue to be popular.

I think the spin off has a really good chance b/c of the character they chose as the central person to break off from the original. Addison is amazing, def. my favorite character and seems to be universally liked by Grey's fans.
A lot of people will watch for her alone and even if the show is just OK at 1st, will prob. stick around b/c they care about Addison and her storylines. If the show fails, I assume she will be welcomes back to GA, right? No Addison and in turn Kate Walsh would be a sad sad thing. Who will be writing the spin off? |

I only know a little bit about all this, but I am rather excited...is this going to be an episode during this season of Grey's? I'm waiting until the summer reruns since I caught the first two seasons on dvd.

I just hope Izzie goes with her. I hate watching the show because of Meredith, but love most of the other characters. This should be interesting.

Word is the working title for the show is called "Private Practice."
Considering they're calling this "Grey's Anatomy" mixed with "Nip/Tuck" I'm assuming the double entendre is intended. I actually kind of like it... |

A whole other writing staff will be assembled for the new show. Shonda will run it, but rarely does the show runner write every episode of the show they run, Sorkin is the exception. And even when that does happen usually they lead to production delays. Anyway, a showrunner helming several shows happens all the time in TV land. Plus, technically, it would double as the season finale of Grey's too so she wouldn't be writing for both shows. |

I meant next season when they will be 2 seperate shows. I fully expected her to be involved, just didn't know how much, that's all. She could ahve just been overseeing the new project but I like that she will be writing both scripts. She's amazing.
The spin off will be an hour right? Any talk about what night it could be on? |
