I don't think they have the category "black comedy" yet on most DVRs.
Damned racist DVRs.
I'll watch it again Monday

I think it'll be fine on FX. I think cable networks like FX generally take care of their shows, which is more than I can say for HBO (only 2 seasons of ROME!).

Not sure I loved it, but it was interesting and I'll probably tivo a future episodes... I think Eddie Izzard struggkes a little with the American accent from time to time but other than that he (heck all the actors) are good.
Quote: No, just an actress who pretty much stole Jamie's shick... it was actually sort of distracting how she was basically impersonating Joy, at least for me, anyway |

It would be pretty entertaining if the real Doug Rich, the securities litigator Wayne is now impersonating, turned out to be a white-collar criminal (some sort of buffer conman). Wayne's thinking he's at last found the American dream ("Just live!"), so finding himself having to step up his petty thief skills to cover the tracks of a sophisticated financial criminal would be enjoyably ironic. (I don't know if the show's going in this direction, of course; I'm just trying to guess from the previews.)

Quote: That would be a good direction, I think. I'm not convinced that the neighbor isn't also shady (as someone mentioned, she alluded to knowing some tricks like breaking into a locked house and her non-response at the cash in the lawnchair) and that one actor who played the loudmouth on the golf course often plays shady characters in other movies/shows. I would not be surprised if the irony of the family's new situation is that they now consort with a different group of con-artists. Maybe viewers aren't really supposed to sympathize with the deceased lawyer because we'll eventually learn that he was a crook too. Looking forward to the next episode. |

I think this was really good, and I seldom watch scripted shows, but talent like Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, and when its on cable and not network tv they can do so much more with scripts, its well worth watching.
And another thing I like about them on cable and not network is they repeat, so in case you miss it, forget about it, there's another chance to see it, or to see it over again. |

I finally caught up with the premiere...WOW. I usually don't go for the cable only artsy type shows, but this blew my socks off.
This Izzard guy is mesmerizing, and Minnie Driver can go from totally ugly to enchanting at the drop of a hat. And the daughter siding with the father all the time is just like my daughter!!! |

It was great. So many wonderful little moments - I laughed out loud when doomed Mr. Rich asked Eddie if he was insured...glad they let Eddie play with the kids and do accents and such so his inner Izzardness isn't completely bottled up - the accent is a little weird, but it's a southern accent so it didn't bother me. Although he sounds odd doing "R" sounds.
Second the recommendation someone made - if you've never seen Izzard work, rent Dress to Kill. Enjoy. Death, or cake? Anyway, little speed bumps aside, Driver and Izzard made this a great premiere, and kudos to F/X for keeping up the good work. |

This one was even better than the first one. All their little cons are being lined up. Hilarity will ensue. |

Is it bad that I didn't notice that the boy was into cross-dressing until tonight? I also liked how he was in charge of, oh, just making fake IDs. Kid stuff.
As much as I like Izzard he seems almost too sophisticated for this role. I can't see him as white trash. Minnie Driver is perfect, though. |

Unbelievably good 2nd ep! Funny as hell, I loved when they were renting a car, their conversation was hilarious. And the one-armed chick killed me. Eddie Izzard is fantastic, so is Minnie Driver. The neighbor lady was a little creepy when Dahlia went to get more pills...kinda freaky.

Quote:Minnie Driver's character is supposed to be gypsy royalty, so she undoubtedly considers herself superior to the Edenfalls people. (Witness her haughty behavior to the one-armed woman who questioned M's right to be there.) I look forward to seeing Minnie tap in to her royal lineage to deal with the uppity biotches in the development. |

"Here's some cookies. Got more drugs?"
Loved the episode, and the youngest son's costume changes. His pink pajama get-up had me giggling. The security guard selling the home alarm system was pretty funny, too. I am afraid of what the one-armed lady's gonna do as revenge, though. |
