My only issue? The lead actually looks like someone covered a set of bones with skin tissue and threw it onto the set.

Just watched the pilot for this show. Pleasantly surprised would sum up my evaluation thereof. I'd be very shocked if Fox hadn't found itself a hit.

Even though I know it's not Zooey, I always mistake that girl for her sister when I see the previews.
Haven't seen a commercial for it in a while so I forgot about it entirely. Too bad; I would have liked to see the premiere. |

imo Zooey isn't as skeletal looking. Maybe it's intentional but it's weird they cast a woman with such prominent bone structure (who in fact sort of resembles Skeletor) as the lead.

I sort of wanted to see this, meh. Wasn't on my must list though.

As an anthropologist, I thought I would like this more than I did. I found the acting to be...HORRIBLE. Sounded like they were reading off cue cards.

This was an okay show. I don't know if it's something I'll stick with. I know there's got to be character development away from the job, but occasionally I got shades of WB-drama bullshit and it made me itch.

CSI with sun.
It was so by the numbers procedural that I felt like I was watching the eighth season of a show that I never knew was on TV. Of course I watched it because of David. |

My husband used to work for a forensic anthropologist, and I liked Deja Dead, so I recorded it. I'm really not sure we'll bother watching it now, seeing all these ringing endorsements.

I've always really enjoyed the Kathy Reich's 'Temperance Brennan' novels. However, I was quite disappointed with the show. It was just 'meh.
It irked me that there was this whole new team of made-for-tv sidekicks and that other than the name, the Temperance Brennan character didn't have much in common with the heroine of the novels. They changed too many details and characters. Why bother? Why didn't they just develop a new lead character for the series than totally rework an already well developed character? I'll probably watch it again in hopes it will improve, but as far as I'm concerned for now- it's simply CSI-D.C. |

Blame Kathy Reichs. I love the books, hate the show but she signed on (sold out) as Producer of the piece of crap.

I did like the show - it was different and hey, it was David Boreanez. Although I did keep expecting his vampire face to appear.
I enjoy the books- Kathy Reich gets a little wordy from time to time but the science is fascinating. I agree - she should have come up with a different character name especially since the fbi guy keeps calling her bones anyway. I'll watch again - hopefully it will improve with time. |

Quote: Yeah- I noticed her name was all over the credits. I can't totally diss her for wanting to make some money, but you think she might want to protect her character a bit better. Anybody that is interested in the show because of the Reichs/Brennan connection is just going to be disappointed in the TV character. And anybody else that was drawn by the crime theme isn't going to give a damn what the character's name is. Why not just give her a new name rather than make your fans pissy? |

This show blew. I expected more from David. This show was so "cliche" i could predict the next lines.

Quote: - I was thinking this the whole time that I was watching it. Of course, Boreanz was the worst actor on both BtVS and Angel - fortunately, he spent most of his time brooding, so it didn't show as much. It did keep throwing me that he wasn't so pale and didn't have superhuman strength, though. They should have picked James Marsters to be the lead in this - at least he can act and I don't know if I can watch Smallville just to see him.

I was torn as to whether or not to watch this. I loathe the torrent of crime-o-the-week shows polluting the airwaves, but I was considering watching for Angel.
But TB reminded me... I never LIKED angel. I wanted spike to kick his ass from season 2! So I guess I'm going to pass. |

Quote: Angel getting his ass kicked by Spike was the best part of Season 5 - for sure. I'm partial to the Gem of Amara episode when Spike mocks Paingel's hair gel and lifesaving techniques as well. |

I was SO looking forward to this, and it was AWFUL.
Never again. (and I'm a huge anthropology fan. Maybe that's why.) The dialogue was stupid and overly glib. Very, very dumb. |

Quote: Don't forget the obligatory sexual tension between a male and female lead who obstensibly don't get along - like we didn't see that one coming. Oh - but they made the woman emotionally distant instead of the man, how original. Oh, and Paingel, I mean (what the hell is the dude's name anyway?) Booth? - is on a quest for redemption from his past evil deeds at the hands of the evil government. Bestill my heart. |

I finally watched it - ugh.
I hate to quibble, but do early fetuses even HAVE ear bones? |
|||
TexasBlues |
Re: The last name... | ||
Quote: Actually, they do - they start to develop the inner ear around Week 10, which is still part of the embryonic stage. By the time they are an actual fetus, they should have ear bones. Of course, I think that they're supposed to be easily distinguishable from frogs by then as well. |
