I watched half the second episode again last night, and I'm wondering why they didn't cast they guy who played Buckingham as Young Henry. His frame and coloring were perfect for the role (as I imagine it).

Quote: I would watch it except that I am in London right now and don't have access to cable TV. Have to wait until I am back in California next week. So how was the third episode? |

I didn't really like the 2nd episode, but that might be because the lack of sex. I don't remember much about English history, but his newborn son dies, correct?

So far, it's not bad but not great. It lacks a certain something for me. maybe a bit more of the scheming needs to be shown, court intrigue was amazing complex.

Aeropostaletc,
No, this newborn son of Henry's does not die. This is the illegimate son by Elizabeth Blount who was named Henry Fitzroy as recognition that he was the king's son, even if he couldn't claim him as a legitimate heir. Henry did have several infant sons who died - Katherine had at least one who lived a few weeks. The only legitimate son who lived for any 'real' length of time was his son Edward by his third wife, Jane Seymour, who eventually became king. He was always sickly, however, and when he died his older sister Mary (Katherine's daughter) became queen. |

Quote: I'll second that. He's stunning. And it's too bad they killed off the Duke of Buckingham. He was hot too. |

Quote: If you liked him in this you should really check out the A&E version of Ivanhoe. He was really great in that miniseries. |

Re: The Tudors | ||

Henry's illegitimate son by Bessie Blount received many titles, but when he "divorced" Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn, both previous children (Henry Fitzroy and Mary) were declared illegitimate.
And of course, some historians suspect Lady Mary Carey's(Anne Boleyn's sister who was Henry's mistress before Anne) second child, a son named Henry, might have been the king's son. |

Production of season two begins in Dublin at the end of this month according to Variety.
"Production on season two will begin this month in Dublin, with Peace Arch and Ben Silverman's Reveille producing. Second season will document the marriage of Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn, the birth of daughter Elizabeth, the Reformation and (spoiler alert!) the beheading of Boleyn. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will return as star of the skein". Bummer, I was in Dublin last week, would have loved to see some of the scenes being shot. |

Quote: No! I thought all six wives died of natural causes! Poor Henry! Being fuzzy on my English history, I went to Wikipedia and read up on Sir (Saint) Thomas More, Henry's daughter Mary (Bloody Mary) and many more "spoilers." I recommend the same for anyone watching who keeps saying "that name sounds familiar" like I have been. |

I was under the impression this show was a one-off miniseries. As long as they don't make JRM gain weight, I can handle it though.

Actually, the story's so big this show could go on for centuries.

^ Nono, I know that. I just remember reading that it was supposed to be a 10-part miniseries.

Showtime was always planning on doing a two part series and were very happy with the initial response so greenlighted part two.

Just saw ep. 4. Knew that Henry was injured at joust, but why are they not showing the fact that the Queen was pregnant for most of their marriage...It is known that Catherine has a miscarriage after Henry is wounded.
Will they ever bring up the fact that Henry had Syphalis? Ending was good, but hell....IT DID NOT HAPPEN !!!!! |
