A drama featuring Hugh Jackman as a slick business man hoping to make it big in the cassino business. CBS's boring and elderly viewership should lap it up.
Except it's a musical. So I guess not.

Hugh Jackman isn't actually the star of this - he's a prosective financier, I believe. Lloyd Owen will be playing Ripley Holden. If you're a BBC America fan, he's been in Monarch of the Glen and a couple episodes each of Coupling and Wire in the Blood.
For some ideas on how the musical aspect worked out in the original, check out Viva Las Vegas, the opening scene in the miniseries with the Ripley Family, which is also the song used in the Viva Laughlin 2 clip posted by Rei, or The Boy with a Thorn in His Side, with Ripley's son and DI Carlyle. The bits Rei posted look somewhat similar to Blackpool - I wonder if they'll snag the plot, like with Queer As Folk, or come up with something completely different. Blackpool was pretty decent. |

My girlfriend caught wind of Viva Laughlin this weekend and there's no doubt it's going to be one of the shows that we watch together this fall.

I recently asked one of my friends working in London about Viva Blackpool, since she was always raving about the show. I guess Laughlin is a US version being
adapted from the original BBC series…kinda like they did with The Office.
Should be cool to see how it turns out... |

I'm not even sure that a lot of the people writing about it, have even seen it...I mean, it doesn't even premiere until Oct. 21!!?!
But, I did notice on imdb that Melanie Griffith was attached. That's pretty interesting. Haven't seen her in a while, now! |

From what I read in our Sunday "TV Week", Hugh Jackman is a rival casino owner and Melanie Griffith plays his wife. If Wolverine read the script and
was willing to give it a chance, then I'll at least Tivo the first episode and check it out.

Didn't this get panned in a lot of media outlets? I thought for sure EW and Newsweek said to skip it, and Variety wasn't too keen on it either, but I
