I don't comment much on here; I lurk mostly. But this episode spurred me to comment. One of the things I've liked so much about this show was the evolution of a friendship that was a touchstone of a new way of living. Life wasn't focused on this singular approach of finding your partner, cranking out a kid, and living life. While both characters searched for it, they had each other. They seemed...enough. Or so I thought. This episode severely depressed me; I didn't like where they left any of the characters. Will and Grace were soulmates, regardless of their inability to ever be physically attracted to one another. Cast interviews and just a general sentiment of the show has told us this over and over. What's with a world where you give up your soulmate to go with expectation and a life with a partner. Kids. It's just...depressing. Will and Grace was, for eight years, hope that you didn't have to work your entire life to find romantic love: human connection was where the heart was. The finale completely underminded it.

I have to agree, and it's probably the reason I'm this sad.

I thought it was beautiful
I thought it truly showed what Will & Grace were trying to deal with their whole relationship. Be with one another, or let it go to be truly happy with the people that they could intimately be in love with. They both found peace in the fact they could still be connected by fate and still love each other, but still have their lives with the significant others they were meant to have. Like it showed in the first ten minutes of the show, they could never truly be happy with one another, because something would be missing. |

I lOVED LOVED LOVED IT!! But, i was a little confused. At the end, it showed a young will and grace quad group at the bar, was that jsut to show their relationship pre-fight, or was the flash forward just a "what if?"? Or, was it jsut to show their overall relationship?

I took it as to show their relationship in general. To show that in the end they never really did change even their lives were completely different.

Re: Will and Grace | ||

I disagree with the finale "undermining" their soulmate relationship..... If anything the finale reinforced it. It took a little time and some years but Will and Grace realized that they could have BOTH... their romantic connection and own lives but still realize that they were destined to be in one another's life. They thought they had to CHOOSE one over the other but eventually through their own stubbornness they learned that they could have both.... they just needed to stop relying on each other as a crutch and excuse, grow independently, and FINALLY realize it.

This was the first episode I've watched in a long time and I need something cleared up. Who were the parents of Ben and Lyla? The impression I got was that Will and Grace were Ben's parents and Grace and Leo were Lyla's parents, so did Grace's two children marry each other?

Lame.
Agreeance with reggierules. The finale made it seem like Will and Grace settled for living compromised, "conventional lives", not being true to themselves or celebrating their individuality like the rest of the series did. It didn't seem like they were happy with their lives with their SOs and kids. It seemed as if their SOs and kids sucked the life out of them. |

Quote: Grace and Leo were Lyla's parents, and Will's child came out of nowhere, but I think I heard Will talking about some girl donating her eggs for rent money. So Grace has nothing to do with that baby. |
