i caught this on the sci-fi tonight while flipping channels. its a three hour documentary of the history of the personal computer (mac and pc (and others) so don't go there.)
amazing.
i watched. after the first hour i noticed this was produced in 1996. wtf? fantastic production values for 1996, but even more it was the 1996 attitude about how business and life will change. you know, hippies running things and bean bag chairs in the work place and no more ties. fun! w00t!
this series is/was fantastic. if you get a chance watch this.
but the biggest wow was when they showed the introduction of the mackintosh in one of the the apple portions of the show. it "had a mouse". it had what now looks like microsoft "paint" (they've moved on). it had a few movable windows.
AND THE CROWD WENT NUTS!
i remember the first time i saw "citizen kane". i thought it a great movie. but i now know i will never get it like them dudes/dudettes back in 1941 when it came out.
when you don't know what is going to show up, shit can be amazing. or better, when you are the first to see, it is amazing.
and i love amazing.
anyway, you can lock this up, p'ha. i just felt like saying that tonight. if this is broadcast again try to watch. its great. from a historical perspective and a great production value.
i'll head over to the jericho thread now and send a package of nuts to cbs...
