So the CW just picked this up.
I know nothing about it, but discuss it here I suppose. If VM gets cancelled and this turns out to suck I want the thread title to reflect it in bright blinky letters. (That said, it actually looks halfway decent).

It was just going to ask that. I've heard about the books and seen other people reading them but never actually checked one out myself.
Thanks for the thread title though Remote. If this show sucks I think it should read [insert lead character's name] ain't no Veronica. |

It's definitely based on the book series. It's also being produced by The OC's Josh Schwartz.

I read the GG books and this show is going to suck only b/c they didn't cast properly and part of the reason the books are somewhat successful is the raunchiness of it. Are we going to see them smoking, getting drunk, and sleeping around? No, and that's what the books are mostly about.

Useless indeed.. Gossip Girl sounds like a shitty PG version of Cruel Intentions
 One of the leads (the brunette) was on VM.. she played that chick who covered for her friend when she got impregnated by that English teacher. |

Frankly, I don't think Kristen's the right person for the roll. Not to mention, this will make me have to watch the show, and I really don't want to watch the show.

The show runner has now said that if Veronica Mars is renewed, Kristen's voice overs will be replaced. Apparently she can't be on two shows at once now.

FWIW, one of the directors (Roger Kumble) was the screenwriter/director for Cruel Intentions. I smell rip-off indeed.
And the other director's name, funny enough, is Mark Piznarski. This will fit right in with the shitfest that is One Tree Hill. |

While I actually enjoyed this, it's pretty obvious that Kristen Bell is SO above this. There's something ridiculously wrong about hearing Veronica Mars
saying "xoxo"

I saw this on Itunes. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I still enjoyed it though - it will be my guilty pleasure show, paired with ANTM. I
thought the Dan guy was cute.
If Kristen Bell can take part in the suck fest that is Heroes, why not this drivel? |

I don't know if I really liked it or not... It moved REALLY slowly and then the last 5 minutes was like ACTION-boring again. Maybe it will take a few more
episodes....
It does have a good soundtrack though, and Kirsten Bell's soothing voice is lovely to hear. I only read the first book but the show seems to have taken the characters and thrown them into random situations that have nothing to do with the books... |
