Picked up by Fox, this comedy starts Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton as reunited co-anchors on an evening news show. Apparently the pilot is FANTASTIC.

I like the premise, the director, Kelsey Grammer and Fred Willard.
Hopefully Patricia Heaton will soon die a horrific, agonizing, violent death so they have time to recast her role before the premiere. :) |

I think that Kelsey's great, but I wish that he'd wait another two years before jumping back into a series.
It's a tough sell trying to get the viewing public to see you as "not" your ever-popular character (e.g. Frasier, Elaine, Kramer). The more time and the more ravages of aging that's passed helps make us accept them as other characters. But, yeh, the casting of that Raymond bitch already has me not wanting to watch. At least perhaps she'll continue to be an Emmy magnet -- earned or not -- for this new show. |

I saw a screener copy of the pilot last night. Very funny. and very Fox-ish.

MSNBC gives it one its few "watch it" (v. TIVO it or Skip it). I'll give it a try, but like the Seinfeld crew and MTM, Kelsey is a victim of his
own success. I'm thinking no matter how good this show's merits it'll still be Frasier doing the news.

I'm skeptical of pretty much any new laugh track sitcom these days, but I'll give this one a shot.

This show will be a hit if they can keep the star's egos in check...

I'm looking forward to it. A friend of mine's brother is one of the writers, Chuck Tatham who wrote some for Arrested Development.

Too bad it's on against ANTM.

Pretty good. Although it's going to take me a bit to get past the "Frasier" image I have of Kelsey. I think I can do it though. His character
appears to be a bit less snooty than Frasier ever was!
I'm liking me some Chuck Darling! Of course, for me, Kelsey Grammer could just stand in front of a camera for 22 minutes and I'd watch it! |

It was okay. Certainly better than the usual sitcoms on FOX (i.e. The War at Home). But based on the early reviews I guess I was expecting more.
Like someone mentioned already it's basically just Frasier doing the news. Kelsey Grammer is the only reason to watch this. I can't stand Patricia Heaton. Wasn't super impressed by the supporting characters either. This is the kind of show I'll watch if I'm flipping around and nothing else is on, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to find it.

I thought it was pretty good...enough to set the DVR for next week but not enough to do a full-season recording yet.

I really didn't like Patricia Heaton in Raymond. Is she pretty much the same character in the new show?

Seems like they ripped off parts of the CW's Pepper Dennis. Young inexperienced manager and spicy latina weather girl,

The previews made it look like it was really good. But it wasn't very good at all.
After a few minutes, it just seemed to fall down flat. What a shame. The writers, directors, producers and actors had all put together some excellent TV shows and I had good hopes for this one. But it sucked shit. It didn't really understand whether it was a comedy or a family drama. It was a string of stupid jokes all the way through but in the last minute, the show put up this controversy that maybe her daughter might have been fathered by Kelsey. But the problem with that was there was no set up to get our interest. We never saw the kid until the last minute. We never knew anything about the kid. It was all just too stupid. It felt like maybe it was something they added on at the last minute when they realized the show was no good as it stood. At least, I hope that is the reason. Because if this "twist" was part of the show from the very beginning, the staff (producers, directors, writers, etc.) should just be ashamed and quit this show and try to move on to their next project because this one ain't gonna fly. But given what I've seen recently, some really shitty shows have lasted for a full season before getting cancelled. This one may last for a full season too. But, by all rights, it should be cancelled after half a dozen episodes or something. |

Strawman10 wrote: And Good Day LA, and Murphy Brown and Good Morning Miami. I mean, shows about News Shows aren't exactly ground breaking. Still, it wasn't bad. I always hate pilot episodes of everything, so I'm going to give it a chance. |

It did good in the ratings last night. #1 in its timeslot, with 9.44 million viewers.

I really didn't like it at all. I laughed at maybe the first dozen sex jokes, but it just got boring after the next hundred. The bater between the guy from
the Dawn of the dead remake and the weather girl got boring, FAST.
And the fat ass manager is not funny at all. This WILL get canceled. |
