It was okay but I think that the womens plan to have days off was pretty unrealistic. From what I've read about those times everyone worked 24/7, especially the women. Hell, I live in 21 century and I never get a day off!

Just wanted to say you can get the books for the other series.
I've got 1900 House, Manor House and Frontier House. Check out bookfinder.com or half.com or abe.com or amazon.com. A lot more info in the books. So far Paul is my fave, the english dude. Can't WAIT for Regency House!!!!!! Just think 'JANE EYRE' |

I really enjoy these series... Manor House will always be the one that touched me the most... I never felt more respect or admiration for anyone as I did the "servants" in that show. The Butler was the most amazing man and Chef "Bean" truly a master.
And yes there was a 1940 house. It was another of the English versions.... the best part was when they began rationing and the mother had to find out there were no cigarettes and the shopkeeper ran and hid he so feared her wrath!!! Honestly a hillarious moment. As for Professor Ketchup. I loathe him and his Professioral wife. Those two are so pompous, I can see them becoming much like the "upstairs" family in Manor House taking their role just way too seriously. Their servant if he is smart will fake insanity, scalp them and say it was the Indians. The Govenor who I thought "uh-oh" and his family turned out to be the suprise element. They have geniune love of God but not in a manner that is overwhelming or pushy. It is clear that their "servants" have geniune respect and appreciation of them as the family have for them. I honestly believe had the tragedy not occurred that Paul and the daughter may have grown to appreciate one another. There was a geniune attraction and not in that creepy ROMBER way. I do think having Paul and Dominic as the two English fellows lends a more playful atmosphere. They have a joie de vivre that will help them in the times ahead. It is also so nice to see black people who are not stereotyped in anyway. HELLO!!! Mark Burnett please contact the casting director of this series and find more of them!! I believe however the first implosion will go the family with the feminist over-emotional wife and her overprotected son... who should hang with the English dudes more and skinnydip. She looks as if the whole "church" scene will kill her. UH,,, bitch these were the PURITANS. WHAT ABOUT THEM DID YOU NOT KNOW BEFORE SIGNING UP!!! Remember witch burning?? |

loved it. | ||

Oh I did like Colonial House.
I hated Mrs. Vorhees, but thought her husband was hot! It looks like the Wyers father is coming back. He could stay gone, I didn't like him. The freemen were the best. Was that dog on the boat w/them in the beginning? If not where did it come from? |

work rotation | ||
|
ok, this could work if they present it correctly:
Cooking Schedule Monday: Caroline, Michele, Julie Tuesday: Michele, Julie, Amy Wednesday: Julie, Amy, Caroline Thursday: Amy, Caroline, Michele Friday: Caroline, Michele, Julie .....etc... continue rotating as above..... the problem is, the phrase ''OFF'' is misleading: they need to understand that on the ''off day'' you're excused from cooking --the woman who's 'off' that day takes over goat milking & egg gathering in the AM, gardening & goat milking in the PM. they have other chores, but rotating them through helps reduce the monotony, lets them learn new ways to present the same foods, and lightens the pressure on each woman. if they rotate through the 3 bigger homes (the bold name indicates which home they cook in as a group in the schedule above), they can accomplish more as a group. all that aside, there are still a few major problems i have: Julie !!!!! You're a SERVANT!! these people have every right to say that you don't get a day off EVER!! i know with the Wyers gone it seems you're almost equal, but i'm sure provisions in the 1600's turned you over to someone else during the Wyers' absence. 2nd.. Caroline!!!! you sure do have your hubby whipped, don't you?? who else would have even bothered to present those ridiculous demands to the men with a straight face?? 3rd: Amy -- your best bet is to strike up a thing with one of the Freemen & get married ASAP -- you'll get your own home & won't have that depressing rug salesman running your life!! |

I agree. Manor House,imho, was the best out of all these shows, but I do like CH so far.
I'm not so sure about the Gov...he's just a wee to religious for me. I just hope he doesn't become to "preachy" throughout this whole show. Love Manchester guy (I forgot his name already)...mmmmmm Mrs. Vorrheess (sp?) great casting, IMHO, but her last name reminds me of the Friday the 13th movies...plus they are at a lake...plus they have a young son Giachamo (sp?)...hopefully he doesn't drown, and have Mrs. V go all psycho on the colony...just a thought. |

Regency House first aired last fall in Britain and it should be airing in the U.S. next spring 2005. Check out channel4.com they should have more info.

Clever Trousers,
I just LOVE the Beatles!!!!!! All I know is it (Regency House) was already aired in Britain and is going to air here, but I don't know when. I guess Rattana knows best. I'm sorry I missed 1940 House, when I found out it was rerun and I missed it, I was DAMN pissed. I should get it on video. I only have Manor House on dvd and Frontier and 1900 House on vhs. |

Re: Interesting | ||

I have seen all the DVD's for all of them except 1940 house. Which ran only once! All the others have been rebroadcast. But now you have me excited to see Regency House. That is the Jane Adams experiment, if I am correct?
But BGM...bring those with you when we go on the Bunkymania world tour... our first stop is Florida where we will pick up the Tyee brat and take her to another family who will love her as a normal child. Then off to NY to pick up the Nutter children and we take them back to Vermont with Grace as the parent figure (leave the two freaks back in NY to solve their issues) Our journey will end in San Francisco when we drop off Shane in the Castro and let nature take its course!!! Of course this will all be filmed for our reality series - "on the road with Glamour Gal and Billy Goat Man. Next up for PBS Reality should be Gay B&B starring Shane. BTW, some of the PBS stations are planning to rerun all of the varying "houses" so check your local listings. But this series is scheduled to run for 3 more nights (4 in total). Apparently the black freeman wants to leave (I just read this somewhere) as he feels marginalized in the community, but that only the Gov returns, sans family for the rest of their time. |

CT,
When I go to Beatlefest I always say, 'These are my people!' Oh yeah! Why do they tease us so far in advance? They should have showed Regency by now. Bastards. |

Okay this will be the last non-house-show post by me on this page.
BGM do you like the Tom Petty version of "Taxman" from the Concert for George? Man I love it but it seems to be one of those you either love or hate! |

VERY nice! I always liked him.
How about Dhani? Like Pauly said, 'we all got old but George looks the same'. Carbon copy of George! Back on topic, Colonial House is on tonight but not tomorrow? Anybody know when the 3rd episode is? |
