I liked Carissa's loft better than Matt's, but I usually liked Matt's rooms more than I liked Carissa's. I was fine with Matt winning. He was better overall, IMO.

The other problem with sunken beds is it just flat out sucks to have to get down and get up off of them all the time. There is a reason way back in olden times people elevated their matts off the floor.

You're pretty much forced to stand on the mattress to get out of bed.
I thought it looked nice, but it was impractical and I can't see Carissa actually rolling her bulk out of that bed every morning. |

Not to mention that any bugs will find their way in there. Every building in downtown LA will have some roaches.

It was a given anyone going into final 2 with carisa would win. A snorefest of a final.

I never thought it would come down to a situation where I was actually rooting for Carissa. But I was in the final, especially since Carl had the chance for 10K. Matt was completely boring and I actually thought he had the worse of the lofts. But we know Bravo, just like Top Chef (which on the flip side I was happy about) they need to have the good guy win.
I don't think a person who's been consistently good should get booted for one bad week and that doesn't always happen on these shows
Also Allison from Project Runway Season 3. I couldn't stand Clarissa but her room really did make much better use of loft space. Closet case Matt, tried to turn into a home loosing the open feel of the loft. And the smugness of him was so tough to take it was worse then the bitchiness of Clarissa. This was so in the bag from the start, everyone wanted him to win and he knew it. I don't know any straight male friends who would refer to their daughters room as Marie Antionette. Before he said he was married I would've swore he was as gay as all other other guys they picked. |

Any person with one working eye can tell that Matt is the better designer of the two. Regardless of rooms, whatever - he clearly is better. He'll get more work than Carissa will. Now granted, he'll be hired by middle aged gay Estonian men who will use him for an unshaven plastic fuck doll, but he will get hired!
As for the the loft, well no shit. Any person with young kid would be out of their mind buying that loft. Anyone have kids? You need to be able to close their rooms off. Lets say that 4 year old goes to bed at 7:30pm. Well, wide open lofts (I used to live in one when I was single) are fucking LOUUUUUDDDD. You hear everything. If you put your kid to bed, you couldnt watch TV cuz it would keep the kid up. Shit, I live in a big house - two story open family room downstairs and all the bedrooms downstairs. When my kids go to sleep around 7pm, we run fans on '3' outside their downs so it drowns out the sound of us watching tv, talking, spouse abusing, etc. Not to mention having a wide open bedroom. How are you gonna play 'just the tip' if you've got a shitting gauze curtain separating you. Little Johnny will walk right in and see your hairy ass. Not to mention, little kids have tons of toys - lots of big plastic ugly primary color shit. Lofts are infamous for a lack of storage space. Where you gonna store all that shit? Not to mention as small galley kitchen. That's why the 'open floor plan' is so popular in family homes. Mom and dad can be in the kitchen getting meals ready and still keep an eye on the little ones playing. Also, one bathroom for mom, dad and little kids? that would suck Sorry, but lofts may be cool for hipster doofus single guys, upwardly mobile Jimmy Choo shoe wearing bitches and old queens, but not for any family with small kids. |

okay so I finally watched the finale.
I couldn't stand Carissa throughout the season - is there anything that made her happy, besides stripes and the colors orange and green? - but I did enjoy her loft. That surprised me, I thought she'd just drop pillows everywhere and throw orange paint on the walls. Matt deserved to lose for mentioning the word "sterile" with his design...in the bedroom, at that. I am glad Matt won, though, he is marginally talented and the most deserving based off his designs throughout the season. |

I still say that Andrea is the only one who had a single GREAT design all season (the private dining room for Collichio). Matt's yard sale room was really good, but according to the judges, Carissa beat him that week!

Matt kept it safe, but I still expected him to win this thing over Carisa. I didn't even care enough about the final until I happened to have the tv on last night and caught it...that's how I feel about the show these days.
I wasn't impressed by Carisa's loft at all, it was totally predictable. I don't know what Trudie Styler's deal is, but the fact that she liked Carisa's kitchen over Matt's had me thinking she must not be a real cook. I also thought it was weird that they chose her to be the guest judge for the finals...because she's renovated 10 houses? and.....? One thing that really annoyed me was when Matt and Carisa first arrived at the loft, she commented that it was a typical California loft and being from New York she's never seen anything like it. Ummm, I guess she doesn't get out much, because lower manhattan is full of buildings with very similar exterior as well as interior to the one they were in.....what a dumbass. |

Funny how Matt thought that glass tables would be good for a 4 year old. Holy crap, you would be windexing that thing multiple times a day to keep it clean. And what 4 year old needs a X thousand $ desk in their room. Ridiculous.

Does Matt's wife know he's gay?
That was a totally underwhelming "finale," one of the most boring of any reality show. |

I suspect Matt's wife was a friend of the family who got knocked up by a loser, and Matt stepped in and did the "right" thing. Now, they have provided "cover" for each other; a match made somewhere, albeit not in heaven.
Matt's wife MUST know he's gay. Thirty seconds (or less) seeing the man, and it's blatant. |
