Sure she seems nice and is great in the outdoors, but for someone with a genius sized IQ, why did she think her bozo plan of integrity was gonna work? Also, if shes so moral then why was she arrested for stealing a credit a credit card right after she left the island. Love ya Gretchen!

I liked her but even in season one, I felt she wasn't a good player since she didn't want to vote strategically.

Was that the boot where there were 6 or so different people receiving votes?
I always thought she was a legitimate threat, but damn she failed to comprehend how to play the game. |

Yeah, Gretchen was the only person voted off with less than half of the votes, something that was not repeated until Bobby's boot in Panama/Exile Island.

But we can't really blame Gretchen for not wanting an alliance, it was the first season and she had nothing to base it on. But it was still dumb

I sure liked her a lot more than most of Pagong, but by the time they hit merge I was in full on "go Alliance!" mode.

Perhaps she was arrogant enough to think "Hey, this show is about survivval and im best at it so everyone should roll over"

Oh I think there was some arrogance for sure, but not on expecting people to lay down in front of her.
It was more counting on her survival training to ensure that she was the last contestant standing amidst those pasty clueless dumbfucks. Alliance? Evil Tagi Alliance? Yeah like a fat motivational speaker is going to beat ME! |

Gretchen was almost as good as Jessie or Morgan (the tribe) or Morgan (the player).

Gretchen kicked ass, she was just slow on the uptake with the strategy.
Here's my thing, though. Burnett has said repeatedly that alliances are only one way of playing the game. How the else can you play it? Just win challenges? I don't understand how else the game could be played besides using other people as voting blocks. |

This should go to LTS.
I'm pretty sure Gretchen was immensly liked because she was a survivalist and people like that in the first season since we thought that's what the show was about originally. Second, she's a strong independant woman, which people liked too. But ultimately she was a bonehead, game-wise. Before the merge she was a complete sheep, after the merge she did the complete opposite and became an stubborn independant player at a time where you need numbers. |
