Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

Yep, the Ghandia/Ted fiasco and the Sue/Rich bit were unpleasant to watch........they were ranked low for that reason, not because of how we felt about the season........and the ASS finale was painfully boring because everyone and there mother knew Romber was F2 without readin the spoilers.......

I know! I thought most episodes of Thailand were better than the Outback finale which was a complete snoozefest. A boring, predictable two hour episode is twice as bad as a boring, predictable one hour episode. Nothing is worse than a drawn out boring finale. The overblown three hour finale for Apprentice 2 is the worst Competitive Realty Show of All Time.

I actually liked the merge episode in Thailand because of Chuay Gahn mocking Sook Jai, like Brian saying "I get all kinds of bitches in this uniform". One of the only highlights of Thailand.

120-111...
![]() 120. Episode 513 The Tides are Turning December 12, 2002 At the reward challenge, Brian misspelled road trip, and Ted won a car. He took Helen with him on a spa night. While away from the tribe, Ted proposed voting off Clay. Helen brought up the possibility to Jan, who refused to answer. In the end, Brian won immunity and Ted was voted off unanimously. ![]() 119. Episode 506 The Power of One October 24, 2002 After booting Stephanie, Sook Jai was divided. Robb and Ken argued over loyalty. When they won a Thai feast, they managed to put aside their differences and enjoy the meal. After eating, Robb and Ken made up. Meanwhile, at Chuay Gahn, Jan found a dead bat, and buried it. Despite overcoming his differences with his tribe, Robb was voted off when Sook Jai lost immunity. ![]() 118. Episode 807 Sorry I Blew It March 11, 2004 The tribes went to the reward challenge, and learned that it was also the immunity challenge. Chapera won immunity and a day on a yacht. In addition, they got to pick one member from Mogo Mogo to join them. They chose Kathy. At Mogo Mogo, the plan was to get rid of Jerri. Lex had a different idea, and got together with Jerri and Shii Ann to oust Colby. ![]() 117. Episode 909 Gender Wars and Its Getting Ugly November 11, 2004 Realizing theyd been had, the men looked for ways to keep themselves in the game. They attempted to convince the women to get rid of Eliza, who seemed to be next on the chopping block after the men. At the reward challenge, Leann won a trip and took Julie along, and the two discussed strategy. Back at camp, the tribe was surprised to find a pig waiting for them at Tree Mail. When Ami won immunity, it became clear that Sarge was going to become the first member of the jury. Realizing this, Chris decided to cast his vote against his friend Sarge, promising that he would burn em all afterwards. ![]() 116. Episode 910 Culture Shock and Violent Storms November 18, 2004 Two teams of four participated in the reward challenge for a chance to visit a Vanuatu village and partake in their rituals. Ami, Chad, Chris, and Eliza won, and had a great time experiencing the Vanuatu culture. The other four werent having a great time, as they were stuck at camp in a storm. Scout hatched a plan to save the men and get rid of Eliza, which the other three women at camp agreed with. When the other four returned and Ami was told of the plan, she nixed it, and it was Chad who was voted out. ![]() 115. Episode 907 Anger, Threats, Tears and Coffee October 28, 2004 Figuring that he was the next to go, John K. decided to laze around for his last few days on the island. At the reward challenge, Yasur won letters from home, as well as coffee and pastries. The immunity challenge was a slingshot competition, and Rory dominated throughout for Yasur, earning immunity almost single-handedly. John K. made a quick attempt to possibly get rid of Chad, but instead, he was the one voted off. ![]() 114. Episode 810 Mad Scramble and Broken Hearts April 1, 2004 The tribes were shuffled, but only one person found themselves with new tribemates: Amber. Everyone else simply switched tribes. After the new Mogo Mogo won immunity, Boston Rob made a plea to Lex to keep Amber around. Back at camp, Lex told Jerri that she was going to be voted off, but after talking about it with her, he had second thoughts. In the end, the tribe decided to grant Rob his wish, and Jerri was voted out. ![]() 113. Episode 906 Hog Tied October 21, 2004 Rory confronted Yasur and asked for a fair shot at the game. The reward challenge had the Survivors grab pigs for a prize of steaks. Lopevi won after Eliza had trouble catching a pig. At the immunity challenge, it was Leann who screwed up for Yasur. When Lisa made a comment to Ami that Ami took as a sign that Lisa might vote against her, Ami quickly turned most of the other women against Lisa, and soon, she became the seventh person voted out of the game. ![]() TIE: 111. Episode 908 Now the Battle Really Begins November 4, 2004 In the final tribal challenge, Lopevi won a chocolate cake and cookies. Soon, the tribes merged into Alinta, and the women and the men were both fighting for Julie and Twilas votes. The men hoped to oust Ami, while the women were looking to get rid of Rory (seen as the strongest male after Sarge, who had won immunity). In the end, the men were shocked when Julie and Twila went back with the women, and Rory became the first person voted out of Alinta. ![]() TIE: 111. Episode 811 Anger, Tears, and Chaos April 8, 2004 Mogo Mogo was pleasantly surprised to see that Amber had survived the last Tribal Council. For the first time, the reward challenge was individual, although the players were still in two tribes. Rupert won and took Jenna and Amber with him. Soon, the tribes merged, and Lex wanted to ensure that his deal with Rob was still on. After Rob and Kathy won immunity, Rob told Lex that the deal was off. Kathy promised Lex her immunity, but at Tribal Council, she changed her mind. Lex became the first jury member. Now this one has a bunch that I disagree on. Lex's ASS boot is one of my all-time favorites, and I like #113 too. I have to agree with CSC, a lot of people probably didn't remember Thailand very well so they ranked them all pretty low. There are only three episodes of Thailand that haven't been on the list yet. OTOH, I definitely agree on ranking the Sarge and Chad boot episodes of Vanuatu this low. As I said earlier, I'll definitely redo this once more seasons are released on DVD and/or people watch them on OLN. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

beatles 29147,
It appears that most of the people who took this survey didn't take the time to recall what was in each episode, they just ranked most of the episodes based on how they liked the season. Now that most of the S5 and S8 episodes have appeared, we're starting to see the S9 episodes, After most of those have been listed, the S3 episodes should start appearing |

I thought that many liked the Lex and Jerri boot episodes. It kinda leads me to believe that people were rating ASS and some others as a whole. I was happy to see some low ones like the Ted boot though.

Actually, from here on out, the rankings are pretty diverse. The next batch of ten (which I'll post later tonight) has a little more variety than the last three, but after that, the rankings are comparatively spread out among all the seasons.

110 - 101...
![]() 110. Episode 905 Earthquakes and Shake-Ups October 14, 2004 A Vanuatu native came to each tribes beach, making them each choose a chief. Lopevi chose Sarge, and Yasur chose Scout. Not long after, an earthquake shook up the island. Then, the two chiefs were put in charge of coming up with new tribes. Julie and Twila joined Lopevi, while Travis and Rory joined Yasur. At the immunity challenge, Travis tried to communicate with former tribemate Chris. Ami noticed, and when Yasur lost the challenge, Travis was voted off. ![]() 109. Episode 501 The Importance of Being Eldest September 19, 2002 When the Survivors got to the beach, the two oldest members (Jake and Jan) got to choose teams. Jakes tribe, Sook Jai, was a younger, athletic bunch. Jan chose an older, wiser tribe, Chuay Gahn. When Chuay Gahn searched for water, John played a trick on the tribe, trying to convince them that the water source was salt water. Chuay Gahn had an early lead in the challenge, but Ghandia choked when it came time for the puzzle. Despite losing the challenge for the tribe, it was John who became Survivor: Thailands first casualty. ![]() 108. Episode 1007 The Great White Shark Hunter March 31, 2005 At Koror, Ian managed to get a clam for the tribe, only to be one-upped by Tom when he managed to kill a shark. In the SOS reward challenge, Koror produced the better distress signal, and won supplies and MREs. At the immunity challenge, Coby led Koror to yet another immunity victory, and Bobby Jon soon found that he was in control of who got booted from Ulong. Honoring a deal with Steph he made in the previous episode, he joined her in voting off Ibrehem. ![]() 107. Episode 804 Wipe Out! February 19, 2004 When it was raining heavily, Rob and Amber snuggled, and the rest of Chapera took notice. At the reward challenge, Chapera won a variety of bath products. But Chaperas lucky streak finally ended when they lost the immunity challenge. The two Robs made a pact, but it was broken at Tribal Council, when a blindsided Rob C. was unanimously voted off. ![]() 106. Episode 311 We Are Family December 20, 2001 The Survivors partake in an auction for food items, and when Tom and Ethan decide to split a mystery item, which turned out to be breakfast, including bacon. Tom rejoiced that Ethan was Jewish and couldnt have any of the bacon. Back at camp on day 30, Frank reflected on his time in Africa, and then upset the tribe with a rant against people who support gun control. In an attempt to save her friend, Teresa plotted against likeable Ethan. When she didnt get results, she voted with the rest of the tribe against Frank. ![]() 105. Episode 1002 Love is in the Air, Rats are Everywhere February 24, 2005 After Ulong won the reward challenge, Ian recovered the lost box of fire supplies for Koror. At Ulong, Kim and Jeff started to get cozy, while Ashlee seemed to be giving up. When Ulong lost the immunity challenge, Steph and Angie hoped to break up Jeff and Kim. Bobby Jon felt that Ashlee should go, and in the end, the tribe went with him and Ashlee was voted off. ![]() 104. Episode 1011 Ill Show You How Threatening I Am April 28, 2005 The Survivor auction gave the players a chance to purchase food and letters from home. At the auction, Jeff Probst told Ian how badly he smelled. Back at camp, Gregg helped Ian wash himself. Jenn, Katie, and Steph toyed with the idea of a womens alliance. After Caryn made a deal with Tom, however, the idea was abandoned. After managing to avoid getting voted off in her ten past trips to Tribal Council, Stephenies torch was finally snuffed out. ![]() 103. Episode 312 The Big Adventure December 27, 2001 The tribe was excited when the reward challenge allowed them a chance to watch video messages from their loved ones. The loved ones had answered questions about the Survivors, and the contestant who matched the most answers with their loved one would win. Lex won and took Big Tom along on a balloon ride. Tom revealed to Teresa that he was still upset about Lexs alliance with Brandon. However, Tom still sided with Lex at the vote, and Kim P. was voted off. ![]() 102. Episode 802 Panicked, Desperate, Thirsty as Hell February 5, 2004 The tribes were still having difficulty getting fire, and when Saboga won the reward challenge, they chose to give all three tribes a flint, pan, and clue to the lockbox they had received earlier, which contained rice. At the immunity challenge, Saboga was off to an early lead, but soon found themselves heading back to Tribal Council. Feeling vulnerable as a past winner, Ethan tried to convince Jenna L. and Jerri to vote off the weaker Rudy. The girls went with Ethan, and voted off Rudy, who then threatened their lives in his final words. ![]() 101. Episode 903 Double Tribal, Double Trouble September 30, 2004 A twist befell the Survivors: both tribes would head to Tribal Council and vote someone out. After the men won the reward challenge, they got to compete in an individual immunity challenge. John K. won, and went back to camp with Yasur. He was to determine one women to give immunity to for their Tribal Council. The men voted off John P., while Lisa switched alliances and helped the older women vote off Mia. Not counting recaps, this is the biggest number of different seasons included in a batch so far...half of the seasons have at least one episode in the 101-110 range. Soon...the top 100! I'll probably post the next ten later tonight--there are some episodes in the 91-100 range you probably won't expect to be there. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

Even though they're by no means great seasons, Thailand, Vanuatu, and ASS are over-represented in the lower ranks.
I actually liked episode 3 of Thailand a lot. Maybe it was Clay's "I'da whooped his ass 'n put him back in bed", or Robb's going apeshit and doing a terrible Clay impression, but that episode had some good laughs. Episode 4 was also pretty decent. Instead of Robb, we get Ghandia going apeshit and impersonating Clay. Ted's ouster was also pretty decent, IMO. It nice to see Ghuay Gahn finally turn on one another after that pagonging. As much as I hated seeing Romber grab the game by the balls, there's no way that Lex's boot should be this low. Some people can be so blinded by their fervent hatred of one fricking couple. Edit: The anti-ASS bias is now just completely ridiculous. Rob C.'s boot episode was one of the best three of the season. Palau is finally getting a deserved share of shame, but I don't understand why the Ashlee boot episode was one of the first to show up. The first four episodes were the strongest. |

Glad S7 is still a no show. When I took the survey and thought back on all the seasons, Pearl Islands really stood out. I couldnt think of a truly bad episode in the bunch. Ruperts boot episode might be the weakest. The best is a lot harder to pick out, my guess is either the Finale or dead grandma.

Quote: Yeah, it sucked just 'cause YOU say so... and I'm sure Guatemala will suck as well for the same reason. Anyway, I'm kinda surprised no Amazon episodes have shown up yet. I agree with HighlanderGeek, I think Pearl Islands had the best episodes (which doesn't necessarily makes it 'the' best season); however, I think the lowest-ranked episode it will have will be the third one (Lill's boot). |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

I think many ASS episodes (like I said earlier, the Jerri and Lex boot, and now Rob C and the finale) should be MUCH higher. Another big surprise for my was the episode where Rory was booted. I thought it was fantastic -the power struggle, a pissed Rory etc. I'm surprised the finale of S2 hasn't shown up yet. I though it was boring as hell, and I've read the same by other people.
