Here's 100 - 91...
![]() 100. Episode 402 Nacho Momma March 7, 2002 For some much-needed comic relief, Hunter, Rob, and Sean put on a fake radio show for Maraamu. But it wasnt all fun and games for the tribe, as Patricia bossed the tribe around to do work. The immunity challenge invited the players to bob for Fafaru, a Marquesan fish delicacy. The foul fish proved to be too much for Boston Rob to stomach, and he lost the challenge for his tribe in a tiebreaker. Feeling vulnerable, Rob forged an alliance with Sarah, Sean, and Vecepia, and the four of them voted off Patricia. ![]() 99. Episode 302 Whos Zooming Whom? October 18, 2001 At Samburu, Frank barks orders at camp, annoying the younger members. Kim J. cost the Boran tribe the reward challenge when she fell during it. But while Kim was weak, Jessie was feeling sick and not adapting well to the African landscape. Plus, Boran still didnt trust Clarence. Silas joined the four older members of Samburu in a voting block, but later plotted with Lindsey. However, all their plotting would be useless, at least for another three days. Boran lost their second immunity challenge, in which the players had to drink blood from a cow. With Tom still upset about Clarence eating the beans, Clarence talked to him about Tribal Council, and voting off the weak. Tom agreed, but in the end he still voted for Clarence. The rest of the tribe did not, with the exception of Jessie, who became the games second casualty. ![]() 98. Episode 902 Burly Girls, Bowheads, Young Studs, and the Old Bunch September 23, 2004 When the men won immunity, it was clear that the women would be voting on age lines. Dolly committed her vote with the older women, and then changed her mind. When Eliza learned that Dolly was hoping to vote her off, she joined the older crowd in taking Dolly out of the game. ![]() 97. Episode 105 Pulling Your Own Weight June 28, 2000 When the tribes learn that the reward challenge is a Choose Your Weapons competition, Sue expresses her desire to beat a guy on national TV tossing spears. But her wish goes unfulfilled as Pagongs Joel wins chickens for his tribe. Meanwhile, at Tagi, buddies Sean and Dirk go on an unsuccessful hunt for tapioca, and the other four Tagi members form an alliance. In the immunity challenge, Tagis whitewater raft guide Kelly faces off in rafting against Pagongs Gervase, who cant swim. Despite their on-paper advantage, Tagi loses, and the quickly thinning Dirk is voted off. ![]() 96. Episode 1003 Dangerous Creatures and Horrible Setbacks March 3, 2005 Right before the immunity challenge, Ulong faced a setback when Jeff tripped on a coconut. After they lost immunity for the third time in a row, Jeff asked to be voted off. However, Bobby Jon felt that even with an injured ankle, Jeff was stronger than Kim. While James joined Bobby Jon in voting for Kim (with Bobby Jon warning her that he had no intention to play her and Jeffs silly-ass game), the other tribe members all granted Jeff his wish, and he was voted out. ![]() TIE: 94. Episode 514 Slip Through Your Fingers December 19, 2002 Its down to the final four: Brian, Clay, Helen, and Jan. After Brian won the first immunity challenge, Helen was blindsided when the other three voted her off. Then, in one of the most difficult final three endurance challenges in the history of the show, Brian, Clay, and Jan held three coins between their fingers on each hand, and stood in an uncomfortable Thai stance. Brian won, and took Clay with him to the final two. In a 4-3 vote, Brian became the first final immunity challenge winner to also become the Sole Survivor. ![]() TIE: 94. Episode 313 Truth Be Told January 3, 2002 At Tree Mail, the final five Survivors each received letters from their loved ones. Lex won the reward challenge, earning not only a new car, but also the chance to deliver a years worth of medical supplies to a local AIDS hospital. Back at camp, jealousy over Lexs reward made him vulnerable at the forthcoming Tribal Council. He ended up winning immunity. Teresa finally revealed that she was the one who had voted for him at the first post-merge Tribal Council. She blamed it on Tom, and revealed that Tom wanted Lex to go. But unfortunately for T-Bird, the Boran alliance held strong, and she was voted off. ![]() 93. Episode 1006 Jellyfish n Chips March 23, 2005 Ulongs spirits were lifted after they won an afternoon swimming with jellyfish (in freshwater) at the reward challenge. Meanwhile, at Koror, Janu was having a pity party for herself while lying in the hammock. While Ulong was confident they could finally win an immunity challenge (due to Jamess assurance that he could tie knots well), they lost once again, and after the vote initially ended up in a tie between Ibrehem and James, Steph switched her vote and James was voted off. ![]() 92. Episode 214 The Final Four April 26, 2001 The Survivors participated in their final reward challenge, the winner of which would get a brand-new Pontiac Aztek, and unbeknownst to them, a visit from a loved one. Colby won, and after the tribe was weighed (losing a combined 80 pounds since the game began), he went off to claim his car. His mother surprised him there, and returned with him to camp after an overnight camp-out in the Aztek. After she left, the tribe competed in a reward challenge, which Colby won. The Ogakor majority voted off the last remaining member of Kucha, Elisabeth. ![]() 91. Episode 104 Too Little Too Late? June 21, 2000 After recovering from being ill for the first few days of the game, Ramona finally starts feeling better and begins to do her fair share of work for the tribe. However, her new pal Jenna feels that Ramonas efforts have come a little too late. After Pagong loses the immunity challenge, Ramona was easily voted off. 8 different seasons represented, all except for Amazon and Pearl Islands. I was pretty shocked to see two episodes of Borneo ranked this low, but these two episodes are both in my bottom three for the season, so I don't mind. I think that Palau episode 3 and the Thailand finale should have been ranked higher, but the rest I have no problem with where they ranked. Africa episode 13 and Outback episode 14 probably could have been lower actually. Otherwise, I've got no problems with this group. All right, that's it for tonight. More episodes will be posted tomorrow! |

ITA. The Outback finale was far worse than some of these Thailand, Vanuatu, and ASS episodes coming up. Some fucktards must have simply ranked all of the ASS/Thailand/Vanuatu episodes last or something.

I think the Stephenie Boot episode should've been Number 1. Best episode ever, because she finally got the boot.
But, aside from my hoping of that, I think the Outback Finale should've been ranked already. And a couple of Amazon ones should be too. And I agree, people ranked a lot of episodes just by the season they were in. A lot of the All-Stars, Vanuatu, and Thailand episodes were good episodes, just part of less than stellar seasons. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking
|
Outback finale had the shock value of Colby taking Tina and an unknown jury outcome. S4 had a much more boring final episode, and S9 was pretty much setup for Chris to win once he first broke up the girls......oh and Brian had such control over the game that the Thailand finale was also easily predictable, and then there's ASS..........so to be honest, the Outback Finale is better than half of 'em.
I'm kind of shocked that Thailand did worse than Africa........I was interested in Thailand nearly the entire way through, whereas Africa just never really caught fire with me. I think people give it slightly more of a free pass because it had three All Stars compared to one for Thailand.......so to them, there's more memorable characters because they've seen a few more recently...... |

Episodes 90 - 81...
![]() 90. Episode 1005 The Best and Worst Reward Ever March 16, 2005 The Survivors faced a twist that sent both of them to Tribal Council. Koror won the reward challenge, allowing them to not only sit in on Ulongs Tribal Council, but to eat a meal while doing so. Before going to Korors first Tribal Council, Gregg told Coby of his plans to align with Coby and Janu at some point to oust Tom and Ian. Koror then went to Tribal Council, and unanimously voted off Willard. Ulong then came in, and made it became clear that Ibrehem was going to be voted off for messing up the past challenge. In yet another twist, Koror got to vote on one member of Ulong to win immunity. The votes went to Ibrehem, and when Ulong voted, the result was the first tie since the Marquesas finale (and the first ever tie with an odd number of Survivors voting). After a revote, however, there was no tie, and Angie was voted off. ![]() 89. Episode 304 The Young and Untrusted November 1, 2001 When the older members of Samburu receive Tree Mail, they wake up the younger members upon learning that the reward challenge was in less than an hour. In an attempt to perk up the tribe, Linda gets rowdy and tries to hug Lindsey, who isnt too happy with this. Linda jokes about Lindseys mother never hugging her. While hiking to get water, Boran encounters a cape bull, the most dangerous creature in Africa. After Boran won the immunity challenge, the older members (especially Linda) of Samburu felt vulnerable. Frank celebrated his 43rd birthday by carving his familys names into his torch. The younger members tried to convince the older members to vote for Lindsey, who already had votes against her, in the event of a tiebreaker. They didnt follow the order, and voted for Silas. But the younger members four votes for Linda were enough to send her home. ![]() 88. Episode 314 The Final Four: No Regrets January 10, 2002 Lex confronted Tom over Teresas allegations that Tom wanted Lex gone. Tom denied it, and the two cooled off enough to enjoy the view from a nearby mountaintop with the other two contestants. The final four immunity challenge was Fallen Comrades once again. (It was eventually revealed that Lex answered a question correctly but didnt receive a point, meaning that the outcome of the game may have ended up differently.) Kim J. won. Tom finally got the courage to vote for Lex, but Ethan and Kim sided with Lex in voting off Tom. The next day, the final three reflected on their time in Africa, before entering the final immunity challenge. The endurance challenge proved too difficult for Ethan and Lex, and Kim won once again. She decided to vote off Lex, and she and Ethan faced the jury. In a 5-2 vote, Ethan became the sole Survivor in Survivor: Africa. ![]() 87. Episode 914 Spirits and the Final Four December 12, 2004 The final four immunity challenge was a vertical maze. In a close competition, Chris came out on top. Despite promising Eliza that he would force a tie against Twila at the next Tribal Council, he instead wrote down Elizas name, and she was booted 3-1. Chris also won the final immunity challenge, and chose Twila to sit with him in the final two, booting Scout. At a tear-and-rage-filled final Tribal Council, Twila was called out for lying after swearing on her sons name, and Chris was called out as a BS-er. While Twila received two votes, the rest went to Chris. The man who almost found himself voted off first for losing the immunity challenge for the men had become the Sole Survivor. ![]() 86. Episode 211 Lets Make a Deal April 5, 2001 After Jerris boot, Amber begins to feel insecure with her Ogakor alliance. Keith is too busy singing Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead to care. But much more important was the quickly diminishing amount of rice. After an auction that gave the Survivors some much-needed treats, and an immunity challenge that Colby won, Jeff Probst came to camp, offering rice in exchange for the tribes shelter. They agreed. At Tribal Council, Nick became the third jury member. ![]() 85. Episode 604 Trapped March 6, 2003 After the men won Coke at the reward challenge, Shawna complained that she was physically and mentally draining. But Jenna, Heidi, and Deena all felt that Shawna needed to stay in the game for strategic reasons. When the women lost immunity, Shawna received two votes, but the majority went to Joanna. ![]() 84. Episode 102 The Generation Gap June 7, 2000 Pagong is struggling because workaholic BB thinks that almost everyone else on the tribe is lazy. After completing the shelter, BB tells the tribe that he wouldnt mind being voted off. After Gervase loses to Stacey in a climactic bug-eating battle, Pagong heads to their first Tribal Council and grants BB his wish. ![]() 83. Episode 1013 It Could All Backfire May 12, 2005 Despite promising Katie to take her if he won a reward, Ian chose to take Tom with him when he won the final reward challenge, leaving the three women, including a bitter Katie, back at camp. Katie again proposed a womens alliance. When Ian and Tom returned, Ian and Katie had a brief fight, and then made up. However, it looked as though the womens alliance was still strong. However, at Tribal Council, Caryn went berserk, lashing out on Ian, and she soon found herself unanimously voted out of the game. ![]() TIE: 81. Episode 603 Girl Power February 27, 2003 The reward challenge gave the Survivors an opportunity to talk and flirt with the other team. The women won hygiene products, and the younger, cuter women went to bathe alone. When the men lost immunity again, they unanimously decided to vote off Daniel. ![]() TIE: 81. Episode 602 Storms February 20, 2003 Both tribes had disputes between two members. Roger and Alex had a tense fight about homosexuality, while Joannas peculiar behavior (believing it was sacrilegious, she did not want the Immunity Idol at camp) caused Christy to argue with her about Joannas beliefs. Later, the women found a granola bar hidden in their storage container. Fingers pointed at Janet, who was voted off after the women lost immunity. My thoughts on this group: I'm a sucker for those auction "challenges" so I probably would have liked to see Outback episode 11 higher. Also, the Vanuatu finale wasn't fantastic, but should have been higher. The Africa finale is my second least-favorite after Outback, so while it should have been higher than that one, I have no problem with it where it is. The two Palau episodes here...episode 13 was ok but the Tribal Council bumped it up and it should be higher IMHO. Episode 5 was one of the most intense episodes in Survivor history, and the only reason I can see it ranking this low is because it moved too fast. As for the BB boot episode of Borneo, that was definitely my least favorite episode of the season, so no problem with it being here. As for the Outback finale...you'll be seeing it sooner than later. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking
Quote: I disagree. An entire hour of watching the final three paint idols. There was only one challenge in the entire two hours and it was a lackluster Fallen Comrades challenge rather than an endurance challenge like all the other seasons. The Outback final TC was all right but I much more enjoyed the final TC drama that most of the other seasons had. Maybe some found Colby's decision to take Tina to the final 2 shocking (frankly, I expected him to do that) but in my mind that bad decision didn''t make up for the prior 90 minutes of tedium. Even Mark Burnett and company realized that a 2 hour finale with only the final 3 was a mistake and they have never done it again. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking
Quote:A total axiom. The Marquesas finale was not worse than the Outback finale. People give Marquesas a lot of shit because Kathy lost and Vee won. Big shit, get over it. I'm as big of Kathy fan as the next guy but her ouster shouldn't negate the intensity of the finale. Not only did they actually scheme and plot (unlike the bores in the Outback finale who just painted idols), but the final vote was very close and the TC was intense. The Thailand finale wasn't bad either. It's easily one of the stronger episodes of that season and NO...Brian's win wasn't that predictable. He only won due to Clay's bridge-burning. If anyone thinks Vanuatu's finale is worse than Outback's, then they can't even possibly be watching the same show. I realize that not everybody values plotting and scheming and that episodes don't need power switches at all. Some episodes can be good with a few really good "survival moments" (like Mike killing the pig or Rich dissecting a sea cucumber), but this doesn't apply to Outback's finale in the least. It was probably the least substantive finale ever with Keith, Tuna, and Colby vapidly reflecting on the game and shit. |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

In all due respect, S2 was so hyped and promoted that it could have been an hour of paint drying accompanied with the Survivor logo and we would have been captivated.
Hmmm, the S2 auction is rather low -too much young blood around here. BB's boot is a classic - we have the Colleen, Greg partnership along with Rudy, Rich pairing -"not in a homosexual way." *I personally think none of the first season should be this low. I actually love the early episodes of Africa and think they are stellar episodes. *The Lex boot in All stars is also a brilliantly edited episode. I would imagine the S1 finale is the top ranked episode -but with this list, I have my doubts. My fave for just the most classic structure and most famous lines is S1 episode 9, "J is for Jenna." |

Re: SURVEY: Survivor: The Definitive Episode Ranking

I also agree with S4 finale -it's a nailbiter that just goes south at the end with Neleh's "honestly trully" snippets. But we have two strong tribals before with Kathy working it unlike anything we had ever seen before. Whenever I watch it I get so sucked into it and actually think Kath might pull it off.
My top - S1 ep 9 S1 ep 11 S1 ep 13 finale S2 ep 9 S3 ep 8 S4 ep 7 S4 ep 8 S7 ep 12 S7 ep 13 finale |

Weird list. I find the Vanuatu finale great, the 3rd and 4th Amazon episodes fun to watch, and the Palau double boot rather shocking.
