Smart move tonight pairing him with Avril. She sings more off key and worse than Chris. They may have duped some of the audience into thinking it was an issue with their mics or something.

Mainly because every song he sang on the show each week sounded like another version of "Homie" or else actually turned into it. This week's "Homie" was the most ludicrous. It was "Homie What You Trippin' On ---The Musical!" Yet another version of "Homie," but this one was an all-dancing, all-grunting extravaganza. Rene has missed the appeal of his own song. The power of "Homie" lies in it intimacy. It has little else going for it. It is a quiet, reflective, confessional, minimalist chant. Turning it into "Homie ---The Musical" with spinning chicks and flashing lights took away what little it had going for it and since "Homie" pretty much represents Rene's entire act, it took away what little Chris had going for him.

Not because I'm a huge fan (he really is a weak singer) but he's the one that most lives up to the name of the show. He really does have the X factor including mad writing skills. I still say Young Homie would be a radio smash. So would the other original song he did a few weeks back.

That sounds odd, since he never does well week to week, but I think he could do really well in the studio, could write some semi-surrent stuff, and have the right kind of help to move him along. He has charisma in spades, as many addicts do. It's how they get by with no money and a need.
