Season 1 episode 6: The Joel boot. I had no idea what the show was about before that. Everybody kept talking about it, but I thought it was just some retarded real life soap opera about people living on a deserted Island. Which it was. Which is what they should go back to.

The first episode I REMEMBER seeing is the episode of Australia where Roger jumped off the cliff. I "watched" the first season off and on while it originally aired (I still lived at home at the time and my folks watched it), but was a regular viewer from Australia on. I skipped Marquesas and Thailand, then came back for Amazon and haven't left since.
I've seen 'em all, though. |

Episode 2 of Borneo. I haven't missed an episode since. I caught the first episode of Borneo when they reaired it against the Olympics. To this day, Borneo is the only complete season to have a repeat airing on CBS.

Episode two of Borneo.
Heard all week of the poor old ladty that the people ate or something because she fell. Had it on to make fun of it -and got sucked in right away. Loved Greg and Colleen, and thought Greg was going to win. By the end, we were having viewing parties and shouting at our screens. I can still remember the bar in NYC that night after Colleen was voted off, you could hear random people talking about being disgusted one of those creeps would win. It was so much fun back then. |

Survivor's probably the only show I watched out of order. Wasn't interested in it when it started, but I was bedridden with illness for a few days so downloaded all of Thailand and mostly enjoyed it.

Borneo.. the Ramona boot.. i think that was Episode 4 ? I knew right there and then that Jenna was a phony cunt.
I think the Borneo finale is still unmatched.. Not only talking about Sue's speech.. but how the finale was cut down into several segments or chapters leading up to the final tribacl council. |

My first episode was the second episode of the Amazon (when JoAnna told Christy to "talk to the hand"). But only watched that season off and on.
My first complete season was Pearl Islands, and I was hooked ever since, but I only watched PI (and the next 2 seasons) on an entertainment level, not a strategy level, because I didn't get the concept of alliances yet (even though my sister tried numerous times to explain it to me  ; I eventually got it about halfway through Palau).Guatemala was the first season I watched purely from a strategic persepective (maybe that's because it was around that time I started lurking on Sucks). I didn't really like anyone that season, so I guess that allowed me to look objeectively at strategy. And that's pretty much been the case for every subsequent season. |

I am very proud to say that I am a Borneo Episode 1 original viewer.
My mom told me about it a couple weeks or so before it started, and I thought it sounded dumb. That Wednesday night rolled around, I was bored, my mom reminded me that it was on, so I watched and instantly fell in love with Rudy. I also remember picking someone from the opening credits as to who would be the first person to leave the island. I saw Rich and decided it was going to be him. :) |

Borneo, Ep 5 (Dirk). Was sucked in, of course, with the rest of America. One other co-worker and I kept trying to rally the others to watch it, but they weren't interested.
Interestingly, whehn Australia came on (after the Super Bowl 2001), I refused to watch it, because I thought "The sequel will never be as good. Why do they need another season? Don't tell me they're actually going to have a Survivor 3 or even 4! That's so stupid!" Seriously :) Eventually, some friends of mine in a mass emails kind of thing where we would email each other en bloc started talking about things going on, and I think I was reading some about it in alt.gossip.celebrities. Finally I caved and watched Ep 8 (Alicia boot) and Pandora's Box was open again, this time for good. I started taping every episode starting with Africa, most of which I still have. However, I never saw those early Eps of S1 and S2 until they were out on DVD. |

Wyl, I didn't start watching until Thailand because before I caught a couple episode of the Mole (and became hooked on it), I had assumed reality T.V. was just not something I'd be interested in. I was also really young, so it's not like I watched much T.V. anyway, but when I saw people walking around wearing Survivor shirts back in Borneo days, I just assumed it was a passing fad and probably something that wouldn't interest me. I was absolutely wrong, and I wish I had given it a chance instead of waiting, but hey, I jumped in before things started going downhill, and caught the best season of all time while it was airing, so I'm cool with that.

First episode I ever saw was Chad's boot in Vanuatu. Only saw one other episode (the next one), so hard to consider that my 'true' first season. First season I watched regularly was Palau, although I didn't start watching until the merge episode. First full season was Guatemala. Quote: For some reason thought reality shows were lame until I got hooked to the Apprentice season 2. Didn't really get attached to Survivor until a few months later with Palau. Amazingly enough, Steph was one of the big factors that got me hooked in Palau. Who'd know that I'd despise her so much by the end of that year... O_o |
