First episode of Palau.
By the third episode (the challenge where they have to chase each other around the rope), I was completely hooked. Quote: I arrived at the states by the time season 10 was about to start. There was no Survivor where I am originally from |

Episode 1 of Borneo, I've seen every episode since. Aside from the final nine and on, i've only seen Borneo in it's original airing but I still remember what was in each ep.

S1 - worked Wed evenings, read about Survivor in the paper, caught the last 5 minutes of the final epsode and watched when it was rebroadcast during the Olympics.
S2 - saw most of it, casual viewer S3 - turned off ep,.1 half way through, couldn't get into it following 9-11 coverage (which I was glued to). Then was busy Thursdays and come back around the merge. S4 - first season I was really into. Kathy was the first player I really cared about enough to be pissed when they lost. S5 - casual viewer, tv on the fritz for part of it. S6 - finally became a full-blown obsessive internet fan. Still may favouite season, and I regard S6 and S7 as classic the way many regard S1 and S2. S14 - worst season and first time I'm not really passionate about any character since S5. |

I tend to skip episodes a lot. Probably the first season where I watched all the way through was Marquesas.

I don't think anyone else here started to watch Survivor halfway through Survivor : The Amazon like me...
And to answer your question WylDawg, I'm from Quebec like you, and my english wasn't too good until I was about 15-16 years old, when S6 aired... I had heard of this show before, but I didn't understand anything! By the time S6 aired, I was good enough and decided to give it a try...and I was HOOKED! Also, you guys will laugh at me for sure, but in a french class, for an oral presentation, you had to talk about a person you admired...I talked about Jenna Morasca !! hahaha because she won Survivor ! (hey I didn't know who to talk about so why not?) |

From there I started watching Big Brother, and really got into reality shows (especially the strategic ones). All up until this time, I'd never seen 1 episode of Survivor and didn't know it was a strategic or political type of game I graduated college in 2006, so I finally had some time to watch TV. I decided, "Hey, let me see what Survivor is like". So I browsed the internet and found out that Cook Islands was coming out soon. When I saw that there were 4 tribes which would be split into race I became very interested. So for the record, the race gimmick totally pulled me in. My 1st thought was like Parvati's, "Is that kosher?!". I was immediately hooked by the show (in what most fans would say would be the boring episodes) Before Cook Islands even finished, I went crazy, and I watched all the other seasons of Survivor (in a weird order--I think I watched Thailand, All-Stars, and then the rest in order starting from Borneo). So by the time Cook Islands got to it's merge, I'd already seen every season of Survivor! So yeah, I can understand why people have Borneo love, even though I personally don't. Cook Islands is my Borneo--kinda. Thailand should be my Borneo too, but it's just too lame of a season haha. Honestly, even if Cook Islands wasn't my 1st, it'd be my favorite. The racial twist brought me in and when it looked like there was a white alliance, I was thinking, "Holy crap, race DOES matter!". And then Jonathan flipped, and I was like, "Oh okay, just kidding" haha After Cook Islands, and right before Fiji, I discovered Sucks--hence my name. So that's the history of this verbose newbie |

I've always suspected that the high regard for S1 and S2 that many hold has more to do with nostalga for "first love" and the "good ole days" that the superior quality of those seasons.
Just like older folks who starting watching baseball in the 50's (or whenever) will tell you the game was better back then. I was a huge baseball fan 1977-1993 but never got back into falling the strike and the Blue Jays fall from competitiveness. Or perhaps the game got repetitive. Survivor fans whine about recruitis the same way baseball fans for decades have whined about high-paid free agents. |

I have all the intervening seasons and will be lending them to her, but neither one of us thinks she can get caught up before S15, so it will probably be S16 before she can join in here; a pity, because she is extremely observant with an incredible mind fo trivia and details, and would be a valuable contributor to so many threads in the Greater Sucks environs. |

I watched Borneo when Gervase got eliminated. Than I watched all of the Australian season. Watched all of Africa. Got bored of Marquesas but than picked it up again half way through and haven't missed an episode since.

Started: Season One, Colleens boot episode. Never remebered when it was on.
Re-Started: Season Two, Episode One: Been hooked. Never missed an episode. Finished: Season Fourteen, Episode Two. Survivor is now dead to me. |

I began watching sometime during the middle the Outback season and watched through Marquesas. Then I took a break from it and didn't start watching until All Stars. Since then, I've been a loyal fan.

Those who didnt see the whole series from the beginning can never have an accurate idea of each individual. Watching Richard Win Borneo after you had already seen a later season, takes away from Richard's win. I just love those people who think YUL is better than Richard. LOL |

Borneo- Episode Four. At that point, my grandma was the only one watching it. She was like an outdoors freak (like Gretchen- who was her obvious favorite) so she gradually got my whole family into it and we still all watch it and try not to miss any episodes.
I've only missed one episode- Guatemala, episode three.
