The most talk-worthy moment of the game was Ozzy's trojan-horse-gambit, and it lasted until Cockroach decided to betray them in thirty seconds. Beyond that, blind men living in caves on Mars could've scripted everything that has happened. And you know what? Dawn and Whitney and Albert are completely right. Coach is running this show, everybody knows it, and everybody is just content to just sit back and let him decide their fates. Sophie is smart, right? So it's Albert. But they're content to let this whole thing unravel. Or maybe Brandon's IQ is so low, it's in negative territory, and he's dragging everybody else's brainpower down with him? A thought.

Redemption Island was perceived to be a failure last year and everyone continues to think that the same thing will continue this year. (If you doubt that just look at how many have dismissed any idea that Ozzy can come back and make even the final 4 let alone the final 3) After all, if you are voted out once, you are on the chopping block the minute you come back and are the "easy" vote out at a time when everyone is worried about alienating a possible jury vote. RI has been hyped as a way for "someone to reenter the game and have a shot at the million dollars." And Ozzy has embraced the RI twist saying that nobody in the game sees RI as a new dimension to the game that they have to consider/remember. I also agree that if anyone gets close to accomplishing that then CBS will see it as "successful" and hopefully it will put an end to it.

Posts: 1726 11/25/11 03:28 AM More Recent Posts	I think I posted this on the wrong thread earlier.... so here we go RECAP ANALYSIS I took some crap a couple weeks ago for not including the Redemption Island inhabitants sooooo.... WHITNEY- Her game is DONE. We saw her relationship with Keith finally, so her storyline is over. No chance she comes back OZZY- I think the recap episode was VERY negative for Ozzy. Was there anything really positive said about him or shown in the whole episode? Not really.... Im starting to think that he will not be the one that returns. He's being setup for his eventual fall (again). DAWN- still a strange edit. She got face time in the recap which, considering she's been voted off is a good thing. Her edit all season has been that of someone that goes far, but I think its just that... a strange edit. I dont think she will come back and have any significance to the end game. now for the "real players"... COCHRANE- it was definitely the Cochrane/Coach show last night. I really think we are supposed to like this guy. Once again, we were shown scenes as to why he flipped on his tribe. None of it was really that bad, but we're still supposed to think he made the right decision. I think this is because the editors want us to not be resistant to the idea of Coach or another Upolu winning this game. Not really anything to do with Cochrane's end game. I think he goes next, or right after in 6th. But now im not so sure he isnt the player that returns from RI and gets just that, some redemption for his decision and just an end to his overall story and journey throughout this game. kind of like Cochrane's coming of age story. RICK- nothing from Rick except some talk with Edna on why Brandon needs to go. This is more relevant to Brandon's story than Rick's i imagine. Once again, he's going to be out in 5th or 4th. I think that's almost certain at this point. EDNA- once again, not much from her at all this episode. that's not good for Edna. I dont think she makes it to the final 3. If she had, the editors would have shown some negative scenes of her to help us understand why she loses. Its kind of obvious already, but in a recap episode, stuff like that usually is shown. I think she goes 6th place. BRANDON- so nobody wants Brandon in the game anymore and no one thinks he has any business even playing the game at this point. Its looking like Brandon will get betrayed big time or he's going to have a huge breakdown and basically beg to be voted off or something. His edit is kind of negative but very sympathetic at the same time. Ive really liked Brandon's character this whole game, and im so anxious to see how his game ends. Most likely voted off 4th or 5th. And isnt a RI returnee. ALBERT- I thought he was portrayed negatively as well. Being called "selfish" by Jeff Probst in the voiceover, followed by Sophie's confessional of saying that if he tries to go against the 5, its him thats gonna go. I think this is definitely setting up his "surprise" boot at F7/6 or he becomes a F3 goat ala Chase. I dont think he deserves to be a goat in this game, but for some reason he's rubbing people the wrong way. You can only "almost" makes moves so many times. Either you make it or you dont. He's not doing himself any favors in this game anymore. SOPHIE- quiet recap episode for her, but not in a negative way. She showed that she thinks shes in a good place in the game and doesnt want anyone rocking the boat. This being shown in the recap makes me think that in fact she IS in a good place and will be in the F3 and possibly win. It will be very interesting how she gets editied these last couple episodes. COACH- its almost a given he is in the F3 now. Some people think he was portrayed very negatively this episode but I didnt really see it. Yeah, he was kind of mean to Mikayla but it wasnt that bad. He was seen as someone who really cared for his "family" and as much as we all know some of it is definitely BS, this is really the same Coach that has played before... Loyal to his allies, and wanting a group to lead. to summarize... at this point I think Coach and Sophie are the only two who have a shot at winning this game. Ozzy and Albert are goats. Cochrane will get some type of redemption at some point, even if he's voted off early, rather than later. Whitney and Dawn are done. Rick and Edna just dont really matter.

Let's see was that before or after the scene where Mikilia was feeling sick? Coach knew she was sick and intentionally cooked pig fat, made gagging noises and then laughed when he accomplished his goal and Mikilia ran off sick. He then goes off and in a confessional and proudly says "I don't care, she's going home. What was the purpose of that? To show what a "kind benevelont" father he was to his family? To show he could make a young girl more miserable than she already was? To prove his power? She's a young girl and he is supposed to be the "Leader" of his tribe. Good leadership, I don't think so. For all the "claims" that Cockroach was bullied this season, the only clear example of bullying was this scene. Hmmmm And you give that same person "props" for making a judgmental observation about someone else when he has shown such a cruel streak? One question, how many times have you seen Ozzy make a confessional making any personal attacks on a person? If Benjamin pulls this off, I swear I will puke. I would rather have Rick win. LOL

There wasn't any stratigical reason relating to the game for Coach doing something this cruel. I may be jumping on the "chickens for the win" bandwagon with SD and BL. LOL

But the only one I think is worth rooting for is Sophie. And if she does win, it will go down as yet another horrible edit of a female winner. Honestly, does it feel to anyone else as if MB and JP so desperately wanted Rob and Coach to win that they gave them these chances to do so? My biggest fear is that they'll keep on bringing back former players instead of letting new players make their own way. Also, if RI "works" this time around, I think they'll bring it back again. God knows they have not retired the immunity idols since that got started. Personally I'd rather see tribal switches come back. That was a twist that worked well on numerous occasions.

I really liked the tribal mix ups. That always had people scrambling and really made for some decent strategy. Yeah, a Sohpie win would be a snooze. I have been waiting all year to see some kind of move out of her and have been sorely disappointed. Even in the recap where Sophie lovers claimed she was shown discussing "strategy" wasn't so much strategy but more of "sameo/sameo" i.e. keeping Albert in line, staying with the family. To take control of the game she and Albert should have made a move before now. As it stands, they really don't have any numbers to shake up the game and they are dependent on Coach unless they win out in the IC challenges. I wonder if Coach is really planning to take them as final three. I am not only getting hinky vibes about Albert (who was shown to be in trouble in the recap) but I am getting a hinky feeling about Sophies chances. Just a feeling, nothing more.

Posts: 203 11/27/11 01:01 AM More Recent Posts	Without knowing how the producers schedule the season, I'll still guess they have most of it in the can before the on-air season begins. If the editing isn't complete on the last few episodes when the season begins, the story line, at least, is done. Essentially, not much wiggle room in the regular episodes. Possible exception, the recrap. Yeah, maybe they just toss in everything that didn't quite make it in the appropriate episode. It would not, however, surprise me if the editors/producers listened to the commentary and reviews as the season went along. If the public wasn't reacting to their characters as they had planned...the recrap might be used as a way to influence public opinion. Cockroach is not that bad a guy...Coach is the dominent player...Ozzy is not that nice...even Sophie is more involved in strategy than they've bothered to show. Add in Dawn is nice...Whitney is more into Keith than the game...emphasize Brandon as a loose cannon, and Rick and Edna are still invisible. The recrap can be used to defend the editors story line if they believe that the public's attitude has not gone where they had hoped. In cutting down Ozzy...and building up Cockroach in this seaons recrap...they were probably trying to get the viewers to not be disappointed if Ozzy gets booted, and to lessen the hatred for Cockroach that has developed. It does appear that Coach will make the F3, but should he win, not have many fans...maybe there was no way they could make him look all that good. He's not Boston Rob.

Is anybody in a game for 1 million dollars? (You had the entire U tribe laughing WITH Coach as he purposefully trying to make Mikilia sick so Ozzy is not as "nice" as the tribe that "prays together?") In fact with the exception of Dawn who is nice all the time? Sophie was stratigizing. My defination of stratigizing is making a plan to get yourself further in the game. Sophie was shown listening to Albert then shooting him and his plan down. While some consider the "strategy" of staying with the status quo "strategy" and it may be a viable way to play the game, it doesn't elevate itself to the level of an Ozzy go to RI to get numbers or to a Cockroach flip. Just saying.... a different perspective.

Check Dawn convinces him that it is the right thing to do.... Check Ozzy shares fish..... Check Brandon in voice over alludes that Ozzy is playing a selfish game and it doesn't matter because he is going home.... all of this while he (Brandon) is eating the fish Ozzy caught .... Check Brandon thanking Ozzy for the fish and Ozzy acknowledging Brandon's thanks.... Check Brandon saying "its not how you start, its how you finish"....

That said, my comments were more directed to what the producers were doing in the recrap. I was trying to make a point that the producers/editors were, in effect, attempting to defend how they structured this season of survivor. They show Sophie at least involved with strategy even if she didn't make any big moves or develop her own grand strategy. Yes...it's hard to believe they gave her such a lame edit if, in fact, she is the winner. Same for Albert. Edna and Rick are all but invisible. Brandon is a loose cannon and recrap only confirms that. So...major face time goes to Ozzy on RI, Coach and Cockroach. I suppose Ozzy's edit is good enough to get him in the F3. It doesn't quite seem good enough for a winners edit...but all of that could be subterfuge on the part of the producers. They want to keep us guessing, so they aren't making it too obvious. Cockroach is just the season's prime character...nothing more. His large face time is due to the belief by the producers that we, the viewers, somehow find him entertaining. When CBS realized that Cockroach was not well liked by the viewers, the producers apparently felt the need to defend the little roach in the recrap. That leaves us with Ben for the win. He is shown as ruthless...and somewhat in control. He's also shown as arrogant and pompous. Not likely to be a favorite of the viewers, but could still win by claiming to the jury that he was in charge. Who knows if the jury will buy it...I don't.

Which is exactly why Cockroach got so much face time. He is the "diversion" player because a lot of the others are boring and predictable. Coach winning. You know, I for one am not feeling it. I may be way off base and they have tried to portray him as a "leader" ala BR but sorry. And for me, the recap reinforced what I believe is about to happen to Coach in the coming weeks which is a return of the Coach of old. Yuck. I actually think the recap was structured as such a way as to emphasize where the major players are "to date" in the game so that changes in the story will be more "noticable" to the average viewer. I will be watching with great interest to see how Ozzy greets the players coming through RI. If he makes "peace" with these players and we see it, then don't count him out against Coach if he makes final three. Not saying it will happen but I've seen a of shocking endings to Survivor and Ozzy winning wouldn't be one of them. ;-)
