Nope. Not every label and not every song/artist. Madonna got a push just long enough to help her first week album sales and then they pulled the plug.

Depends which format and what level they paid for. Top 10 on Pop costs more than a million so you better sell millions of singles!

What about surprise success stories like FUN. and The Wanted on the charts? Do you think an small labeled artist like FUN. and The Wanted who are a UK band payed for their songs to be #1? I highly doubt it.

They are absolutely bought and paid for but there are the occasional novelty successes that get huge on YouTube and go viral, but that's rare.

You seem to think major labels just shit money and anyone can be a star. It's far from that. It takes many things to be in motion to be a success and radio is just a slice of the pie. I'm sure there is som payola involved in any small or big labeled artist but you are over exaggerating it all.

yeah, I think the whole Kelly vs Clay thing is sort of funny, because it's so ridiculous.

I didn't realize there was a big Adam vs James thing going on. I like James, but Adam was better on idol (should have won, I think). I haven't had a chance to listen to his whole album (Adam) but I think he has the potential to be huge if he gets the right music.

Is he really going to be on Idol? I'm looking forward to that. I still think he was one of the most entertaining people to ever appear on Idol.

As for payola...if it's used , it's used as an investment. So some are deemed worthy of a continued investment (because they prove returns) and some get it and then lose it because they were proven to be a bad investment.

Spend money to make money. Stop spending money if you keep losing money. That's it in a nutshell. If your mind is so simple that you have to pull all the variables of success under the umbrella of Payola then it's pretty simple to see who has or has not proven to be a good investment.

There isn't a big Adam v. James thing. there are plenty of people who hate them both.

I don't hate James, in fact I rarely think about him. I think James was better prior to Idol, if the youtubes are any indication. One idol he failed to give consistent vocal performances and post idol it's been the same.

I agree he wasn't very consistent. He had some nice highs and then some songs that just weren't that great, and that's why he went out when he did, despite what I consider more potential than Scotty and Lauren.

I haven't seen his post-idol performances, but I like this song from his album:

JFC you are delusional. I didn't accuse him of not having Tourette's I said maybe he was misdiagnosed as having Aspergers because he doesn't display many of the other symptoms.

My last post before today was almost a month ago and it was a video of him singing Mama i'm coming home and paying him a compliment.

Btw, everyone was hating on James....not just me....he's pretty much hated by everyone except you and a few others. Those are the facts....
